My wife has a 60 pound mix bread dog she loves very much. Yea, I love the dog too.
This dog is spoiled. She is a great companion for us old folks. Great watch dog and very protective.
I understand people loving their pets, but it really makes me angry when they take them inside a grocery store and put them in a shopping cart.
State health dept rules state they are not to be taken inside, there is a sign posted on the door, but people ignore it and take them in. The store also ignores this, and makes no effort to enforce this health dept rule.
What are your thoughts on this?

Stores also post "Service Animals Welcome" and anyone can easily buy a vest that says "service dog".

(because true service dogs are trained from almost birth to perform certain tasks for disabled individuals- not just to be someones pet that follows them around)

The thing is, because of HIPPA and other personal health laws/rules/regulations it is very rare (under extreme circumstances) that a store will ask an individual this.

Therefore you can easily see how the system is abused/taken advantage of.


Although more and more I am seeing stores post signs during extreme heat and cold stating "please make sure you did not leave children or animals in the car" and even running announcements over intercoms to make sure your children and pets are in store with you and not left in the hot/cold vehicle.

I have no problem with a service dog.
But pets should be left at home unless you are gone for an extended time.
Last week I saw two large dogs in the open bed of a truck at Walmart. It was 100 degrees.
That is cruel and should never happen.

They may not want to leave them in the car where they can get overheated. Otherwise, I think it's a little ridiculous. The problem is, people are slowly elevating animals to the level of people. I love animals. I love dogs. Looking forward to some German Shepherds and maybe some retrievers and maybe some Huskies when all is made right... but I refuse to use them as people-replacers.

So it's a mixed message. State officials need to sync these regulations a bit better.

This is one of those emergent properties of human nature that you're never going to change. It's not good and it's not fair, but there's no real way to fix it under the current circumstances.

We can either deal with it or go around berating people in the middle of the store.

Mix breed...not bread. Unless you cooked him up in the oven.

BTW, those grocery buggies actually have far more nasty germs in the little seat for kiddies when kiddies are put in them then the
canines, In more nasties than public potties.

You might pick up way more than just a loaf of bread at the store. Your cart’s handle could be home to 11 million microorganisms, including some from raw meat. And just think about all the dirty diapers on that seat -- the same one you put your produce on. Many stores offer antibacterial wipes these days. Use them. check it out

And you will be thrilled to know all about the other hotspots for contagions.

They must be extremely cute to overcome the effects of tape worms, ascarids, round worms and poopy butt they leave behind to catch a ride on other's food.

Last week I saw a BIG Pit Viper Bull Terrier on a slack leash with getto collar. The owner probably claimed it as his emotional support animal. When you round a blind corner into the next isle, it's hard to make a detour.
