I also have my personal biases on this (my best friend/fraternity brother is gay... and I'm going to be the best man at his wedding next summer haha) but from a strictly legal standpoint, it is what's right for America. Religious or not, if you live in America, you must abide by the law of quality in this nation. The Constitution guarantees equal protection under the 14th Amendment. And DOMA also violates the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the Constitution. This is the law that forces Pennsylvania to accept marriages from, say, Utah. or any other state. While DOMA is in affect, gay couples legally married in Iowa will have their legally binding marriages rejected in Texas or Florida. This is a clear violation of the Constitution and the Supreme Court needs to stand up and knock this down forever.
But God's law overrides national law.
Leviticus 18:22, 24-26:
22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.
24 “‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. 25 Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26 But you must keep my decrees and my laws.
This is not to say that we shouldn't love gay people. We SHOULD love them, but not support their sinful acts - same as how we love everyone else.

actually you're wrong. In America, the 14 Amendment is meant to be one of, if not THE strongest of all the laws. And the 14 Amendment affirms the first 10 Amendments. And in those includes freedom of and from religion. Congress cannot make any law for or against a religion. Banning gay marriage is clearly an Abrahamic religious law. And not even all Jews and Christians are against it (I'm not. The United Church of Christ isn't and there are many others.) It does not matter what you believe. The law supersedes prejudice and religion.

It doesn't matter. We are NOT discussing sin or homosexuality as a whole or morals. We are discussing a single law in the United States that is unconstitutionally discriminatory. It violates the single binding document in the US and needs to be rid of forever. We would be doing a dishonor to our entire nation by not getting rid of it.

Forget man's law for one second, you are doing your friend a great disservice by not telling him that he will not enter the kingdom of God. Homosexuals that die in their sin will not enter the kingdom. As a Christian its my duty to tell you that you are also are in danger for supporting this. God does not let that disgusting sin in, you must repent and turn from it. You or your buddy happen to die instantly in a car wreck on the way to that wedding and you will not enter.

This has 0% to do with God's law right now. DOMA is a man-made law that violates 2 different parts of the binding document that basically keeps our government together. I understand your concern, but this is not the forum for that. This forum specifically, is to talk about DOMA and whether we think it's a good or bad law. As an informed voting American, I cannot consciously vote from a religious point of view.

Typical pro homo double standard. Well an example of why my opinion is biased is because I believe God's word and therefore it is the forum for mentioning that.
It's not. The OP asked a question. A simple question that requires a paragraph in response to that specific question. It's not a double standard at all. Do you even know what that means? This is not a forum for religious personal feelings. It is a forum about the legality of a law. That is it.

For argument's sake. If God hated homosexuality (He doesn't) but if He did, any religious bias cannot affect American law. The legal system in America is supposed to be above any inter-religious bickering or religious totalitarianism. That is what you're asking for. And Satanic? lol. You're so uninformed.
