Hi all,
I am going through a phase of doubt.Please pray that I work through my doubts and renew and deepen my faith.

Yes, of course. I don't want to give you a lot of trite words, but I would like you to remember that doubt is very common in the Christian experience. I kind of doubt Christians who have never doubted. Many of the Psalms have David doubting God, but David was called beloved by God and a man after God's own heart. And, He is with you even in your doubts. My favorite verse in the Bible is "I believe, help thou mine unbelief." It helped me through a season of doubt years ago.

I agree with Galatea, we all have moments of doubt. We have an enemy that wants to throw doubt our way all the day long. He wants us to give up on our faith. And when we're in a bad place through suffering and trials, the doubt might stick around.


God's word tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the word of God. So my recommendation is to begin reading the words of God that will build up your faith.


It would be good to write some scriptures down that would build up your faith in a notebook and keep it handy in case the doubt attacks you again. And keep adding to your list of scriptures that minister faith to you. Those that speak truth to your inner most being, that new creation in Christ that you are.


Psalm 77:0-12
Has God forgotten to be gracious,
Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion?
Selah.
Then I said, “It is my grief,
That the right hand of the Most High has changed.”
I shall remember the deeds of the Lord;
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
I will meditate on all Your work
And muse on Your deeds.


It's always good to think back at all the Lord has done for us. It's an encouragement to keep on keeping on. It reminds us that God is Almighty and what kindness and love He pours out upon His people.

I have had occasional periods of doubt in my spiritual walk also, but we both have the blessed assured hope from God that He loves us and wants us to live with Him for eternity. "Fear not" says the Lord. I have said a prayer for God to making His presence known to you in a loving positive way.
 
Doubt is ok; it can actually help to make your faith stronger. I don't know what form of doubt you have. If it is biblical you can check out books by Lee Strobel, Josh McDowell, and other authors. If it has to do with assurance of salvation, know that it is not what we do that saves us, it is what Christ did. It is about believing in Jesus: his divinity, death on the cross and resurrection. It is about trusting in Jesus and what he did for us to save us and not our good works. I will pray for you.

I also have a strong belief that if you are struggling with assurance of salvation( not sure if you are or not) that having a mature Christian pray for you to receive the Spirit may help. Two of the evidences of being filled with the Spirit is speaking in tongues and the other prophesying. If you are to speak in tongues when someone prays for you to receive the Spirit, more than likely you will have to step out in faith and try to speak in tongues. It probably won't come over you though I have heard that it is some people's experience.
 
I would that doubt is not an issue and in a sense can be healthy.

What I mean by healthy is that causes you to focus on the doubt, search for the answer and when we find the answer it strengthens our faith.

In in a sense it builds anti-bodies in our faith that strengthens it.

Wrestle with your doubts until your seeds of doubt sow new seeds of faith.

Doubt your doubts, before you doubt your faith." Faith is a choice. We are made richer by faith and poorer by doubt.

God will show up, you just need to trust him.

We shouldn't doubt the Lord's love for us or his ability to accomplish what he chooses to accomplish.
 
I pray that God consider and hear your cries of doubt. May the Lord enlighten your eyes, trust in God's mercy and may your heart rejoice in God's salvation. Pray that you seek God with all your heart and come to understanding. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
 
Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

You are right we shouldn't doubt but the truth is we do doubt.

Doubt is real and when people are brave enough to admit that then we should come alonside and encourage.

Yes I agree but by encouragement, understanding, walking with them and the word of God.

No use in telling someone they shouldn't and leave it at that.

Lets just add another weight to the burden they are carrying

There is a time for comforting and a time for pointing in the right direction.

Hey Mooky:)

You will find that doubt is the mysterious shadow of faith and that it occasionally can occur in your life. I have experienced doubt myself and it can be a tough ride at times.

I don't know you very well, maybe we were closer a few years back, but from what I recollect, you are a truly goodhearted, faithful Christian woman.

Maybe that's what makes you doubt? You see all evil going on in the world, yet it appears the Lord allows it. I have doubted too, many times, but I'm thinking He works in mysterious ways and we don't know his plan.

I really hope that you get back up from where you are now. I know from experience how tough it is, but I believe you can do it.
