The above passage declares quite plainly that John the Baptist abstained from drinking alcohol, while Jesus drank alcohol frequently.

I will disagree with frequently, but you are correct. I had forgotten about that passage, and in so doing made a rash and harsh statement. I beg you forgive me, and I also thank you for pointing that out to me. Any erroneus portrayal of scripture should be discovered. You did so, and in doing so, you helped me and stopped the board from being misled by an inaccurate statement.

So far your examples are related to state of being drunk. You should know how to differentiate between drinking and drunkeness.
Do you know that in the OT tithes were not cash and if you are too far. The tithes should be coverted to cash for you to be able to carry it then convert it back again into goods. And part of it as God commanded was wine and strong drink.

It may possible for some of you to have 1 drink, but for me, 1 easily and most assuredly leads to 2 and after two, it's on to 4, 5, and 6. Thats why I had to totally abstain from any form of alcohol.

You should read my earlier post. These people had been drinking wine all day and then Jesus gave them some wine that tasted better than what they had been drinking. If you had been drinking strong wine all day, do you think you care what the last wine of the day tasted like. at that point rot gut taste good.

All that didn't mean a thing to me. I only used v20-21 to confirm the fact that offending our brethen in an uncaring way is sin, & that drinking wine was one of those ways mentioned.

This topic is a perfect example of how much people will pervert scripture to meet their viewpoint.

There are several specific points made when Jesus turned the water into wine.

1. It was a festive occassion. The only reason for imbibing was the buzz.

2. They thought the best wine had been saved 'til last. Why? Because the best wine was habitually served first because after a few drinks the taste didn't matter.

3. It was a big wedding. Christ made a lot of wine.

4. Not only did Christ not condemn them for drinking an intoxicating beverage purely for recreational purposes, He enabled them to drink by making the wine.

Wow God turned water into wine not just 10 gallons, but 108-162 (((GALLONS)))
for this wedding feast.
