Syria is indeed undergoiing invasion and genocide, but have you followed the death and mayhem of Yemen?

It seems every day we have more enemies we do not know, so we kill.
 
Syria won't be faring very well when God reigns judgment down upon her . . .

"The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap" (Isaiah 17:1).

This is true, yet, I have been given to call for prayers for Damascus since 2002, long before the Syrian war began because of this prophecy. We must pray bor all people, for not all Syrians are evil, just as not all people are evil in any given cuntry.

The burden of Damascus - Which is, according to the common version, The cities of Aroer are forsaken. It has already been observed by the learned prelate that the prophecy, as it relates to Damascus, was executed in the beginning of the reign of Ahaz, probably about the third year.

If we credit Midrash, the Damascenes were the most extensive and flagrant of all idolaters. "There were in Damascus three hundred and sixty-five streets, in each of these was an idol, and each idol had his peculiar day of worship; so that the whole were worshipped in the course of the year." This, or any thing like this, was a sufficient reason for this city's destruction.


A ruinous heap - For מעי mei, "a ruinous heap," the Septuagint reads לעי lei, "for a ruin," the Vulgate כעי kei, "as a ruin." I follow the former.

Something to consider, the prophecy says never to be inhabited again…..this is yet to be fulfilled I believe…….

I agree......his "the end came in 70 A.D." view does not even come close to passing the smell test...MOST have no understanding that a yet future context is woven in with the events that took place in the past as a prophetic utterance of what will take place at the end of the age......

Just as people will die during the fulfillment of the prophecy, so they will globally during the fulfillment of all prophecy therefore we must pray for all people. God did nto crete anyone out of hatred. He creted all things out of love. Our reason is so lacking this all remains mystery until revealed.

I know that's the popular understanding but it does not say Damascus would remain a ruin forever as far as I can see:

Isa 17:1 The oracle concerning Damascus. “Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city and will become a fallen ruin.
 
Pray for the Syrian people……...they are no different from any other nation except for their role in this age……….
