How dumb is it?

I'd had messages stuck in my outbox since last Weds. What I didn't know is that I wasn't receiving them either because I just got one from someone who stole my heart a couple of years ago, who apparently still has most of it. From somewhere on the other side of the world out of the blue I received a message that said, "Happy Thanksgiving, little angel". So now I know.

So...how dumb is it not to marry someone you feel so strongly about because you want to do the noble thing and let him save the planet without you?
 
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but I'll take a stab at it...

If you don't want to save the planet, it's not dumb. BUT we can't save the planet, anyway. In fact, we can't save anything! All we can do is pass the torch and hope the Truth will transcend from us. God does the saving part. :)

So the question is, are you not marrying the dude because you think it noble [righteous] not to marry him or are you not marrying him because he stole your heart? Maybe I'm reading too much into this... :confused:

Long story. :) Some friends here know what I mean. I've created some threads I've regretted before, but none more than this. :) It may quite possibly be my last..

All the way around I'm going to have to vote dumbest thing ever :D

There is an unwritten law that says when two people are perfect for each other, there will be at least one insurmountable obstacle standing in their way.

It's not dumb, not at all, and you should snap out of that right away.

Without knowing the details it sounds like you were faced with about the worst kind of dilemma, and that is having potentially all you want at the cost of taking away an incredibly positive influence making a difference in the world.

To choose between a life full of love or a thousand lives immeasurably improved many people would say you made the right choice, but the companion fact will always be, it will forever feel lousy, I can relate......and it sucks, but it#s not dumb.

Sometimes the head rules the heart, I don't think anyone will ever know if that's right or wrong.

Jerry, I can never quite guage your sincerity level. :) If you ARE being sincere, it’s surprisingly sweet of you. If you aren’t, I hope you step on something really yucky barefooted in the dark. :D

In my opinion, if it is meant to be it is meant to be. No matter the decision we make we will always be with the one that we are meant to be with :)

This brings back memory of your recent thread about brains VS heart. I truly think there must be a balance because our feelings can deceive us. I have walked away from a couple of promising relationships because I could see that although I loved the person very much, there was a vast difference in our lives paths that would have caused insurmountable problems in the future. Likewise one of those relationships was rekindled at a later time, and rapidly ended again for the same reasons. Sometimes it is best to let the past be the past, but then again with the limited information you gave I would hate to give solid advice.

I hope just the last thread you regret and not your last thread. So many of your threads have caused many of us to engage in serious thought and soul searching. I wouldn't enjoy this forum nearly as much without some of your threads.

Another message this afternoon. I have a feeling he's coming home for Christmas. Got a lot to think about.
