Is that in Acts where the word is Passover is translated Easter by Episcopalians who are a half a breath away from Catholics?

SEVERELY LIMIT the various threads one reads here......................and a LIBERAL USE of the "Ignore" option.
Once each year it has to come up, just like similar discussions on Christmas. The thing to keep in mind though is there will always be new members for whom the discussion is brand new.

I know it's been mentioned, ad naseum in fact. I don't think it had been mentioned yet this year. This post was made with my tongue in my cheek. It seems that every holiday, Biblical or secular, comes with the traditional "It's pagan", or "It's for the Jews" thread. There was a certain degree of mocking of those threads. I apologize if it didn't come across as clear as I had intended.
And as you will notice, I started this thread by saying,
I'm not condemning anyone, nor have I ever, for the days they do/don't celebrate. I extend the utmost grace, love and respect to those who celebrate easter and christmas with sincerity of heart. As I say over and over, that's between them and God; not me. It is by no means a salvation issue, nor would I make it a point of division with a brother or sister. I choose to recognize and celebrate the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour on Passover. Same reason to celebrate, just different days.
However, I don't have a problem stating facts about the day itself. I welcome the challenges to the sabbath and a Christian's application of it. The idea of, and instruction to follow the sabbath is Scriptural. That is a discussion that should be had.
Easter is not Scriptural. That too, is a discussion that should be had.

I agree Matt. On discovering the Pagan ties to ancient rituals and Easter, the choice was easy and I never looked back. Yet most of my family and friends, (all really) celebrate it and I've never thrown a rotten egg at them. ..well maybe once..
I don't know about all you Pharisees, (oops! I mean legalists, or is that Judiasers??), but every church that I have been in has used Good Friday... wait a minute, does that also count as a pagan holiday - the day that Jesus was crucified???... and Resurrection Sunday as outreach.
I played in the orchestra of a church that put on pageants at Christmas and Easter where over 10,000 people would come and hear the Biblical story of Jesus Christ and his saving grace. I so poignantly remember once night of the production, and a woman with some noisy, ill-mannered children sitting in the row next to the orchestra pit. She seemed to get more and more anxious. This little play was convicting her!
(Actually it was God convicting her, but I digress!)
So I prayed for her to really know Christ, and when she went up for the altar call, such weeping and crying and then such joy as she realized the truth of Jesus dying on the cross for her sins.
The church I am in now is less flamboyant, but both Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday are used to put on a choir production, and the pastor preaches the message of what we are celebrating.
Sometimes I think the people in this forum major in minors. What are we supposed to be doing as Christians, anyway? Arguing over whether to tithe on mint and dill? NO, wait! That was a different thread!

I cannot think of a better way to reach the world for Christ than reaching out during Christmas and Easter. And I cannot but believe that there are some people in this forum who have lost their way in understanding the mission Jesus has called us to do!

I'm surprised no one has said it yet, so I guess I'll go ahead and be the bad guy.
While Jesus' resurrection is certainly vital, monumental and pivotal......
It's not Biblical.
It's not commanded anywhere in Scripture to anyone.
If it wasn't for pagan/"christian" syncretism, no one would be celebrating it today.
I know of plenty of awesome, spirit-filled Believers who celebrate it with good intentions, so that's between them and God.
Just know that it's not a Biblical holiday.

Christians celebrate their Lord's resurrection on the same day pagans celebrate one of their deities.

I wish everyone would take this seriously. No more than 50 years ago anyone questioning church traditions would be all but tarred and feathered. There is a change in our world. Prophecy is coming about, wickedness in increasing and accepted, and a segment are growing closer to the Lord while huge portions of God's church is accepting sinful lives as acceptable.
Part of this is looking at our traditions and questioning them. It is a good thing, not bad, we should all join in. History shows us that there are fruits following when we draw closer to God.
Now we can do things like check the summary of the Nicene Creed on the net to check why and how Easter was made law. Basically, Easter is an anti-Semitism Holiday. Paul is quoted as being anti-sematic, anti-God, and anti-Christ. I think Paul correctly reports God's ways and they are all not anti anything, but there is misrepresenting Paul and that misrepresentation is mostly based on what Paul meant when he said "Law of Moses".
I think these things are things each Christian should very carefully look at, with a mind, heart, and soul open to hearing all the words of the Lord.

I love Resurrection Sunday and I love Israel. Seems to be a non sequiter to me.
Here is my prayer for you this season RedTent, that God would open your eyes to truths like this one...

We could extol our Savior together, if you will accept that he is the Son of God and one with Him, We can accept that we are dead to law, if you will repent of your transgressions that you could know of if you would accept that law lists them, we could bring forth fruit together, but you would have to accept all of God without the deletions you list you believe in no longer.
Joh_5:46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, because he wrote about Me.
With your statements that you believe that Christ said not to believe Moses any longer, I would like to bring you into true belief in Christ. With all the things you say you eliminate, it eliminates much of Christ.
