If you define the ten commandments as the commandments that YHWH gave to Israel (Exodus 24).
That's the only ten commandments defined by Scripture in the OT.

The commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ in the NT are not all defined by that of the old.

Then the ten commandments was the codified law given to Israel and not to Egypt.

The first convert recorded among the nations, was Rahab the harlot. Who also is honored as one of the two examples of being justified with God by their works of faith. The other being Abraham.

A forerunner to any people of any nation converting to God by Jesus Christ, and being justified by works of faith of Abraham, and of his daughter Rahab.

Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.


Sin to a Gentile is not defined by the law but by the deeds of the flesh (Galatians 5).

All sin is defined by the law of God, and all sinners are judged by transgressing His law.

All unrighteous works of the flesh are defined as transgressions of the law of Christ.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness...drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which are doing such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.


Whosever is doing any such thing, is the unrighteous not inheriting the kingdom of God. Whether Jew having law-alone, or Christian having faith-alone, or unbeliever having neither law nor faith at all.


Don't ever say you obey the ten commandments.
I don't. Even if someone is a Sabbath keeper by law, whether Jew or Christian, they're still not keeping the 10 commandments by law of Moses, which is old and passed away.

Only those keeping the commandments of the Lord Jesus given to His apostles, are keeping the NT law of Christ.

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

Anyone trusting in law-alone or faith-alone not to be judged by unrighteous deeds of the flesh, is deceiving themselves:

The difference between you and I is that I trust in Jesus for my salvation and you trust in yourself. Good luck with that.
The difference between you and I is that I trust Jesus to do good and not evil, and you trust in your faith-alone to justify you while doing evil. No luck with that.
 
But we can lose it too, if we’re not holding onto truth.

If you lose that faith, then we don’t finish the race! The good fight is marching onward and upward to His calling, being a good example to others, living His word.

James says more than just faith without works is dead. He says, works complete faith.
True. Faith without works is not complete. It's not the faith of Abraham made complete by the work of offering up Isaac to God.

Those having their faith-alone without works, do not have the faith of Abraham. Which is also why they confess not doing the works of Abraham, nor walk as Jesus walked:

True. Faith-alone without works is not the complete faith of Abraham. Which they by definition and confession are not walking in the steps of Abraham nor of Jesus.

Was King David heavily punished for his sins?

I think David would have gladly given his life for his son's life.

How do you understand the law of Christ?
The law of Moses was written by Moses to the children of Israel not to transgress. The law of Christ is written by His apostles to the children of God not to transgress. And so, what do the Scriptures say of the law of Christ?

1 Cor 6:9
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind…

Gal 5:19

Where does the phrase "saved by faith alone" appear?
Exactly. Not in any Scripture of truth. Only in teachings and sermons and writings of those claiming to have it, hence:

For someone who claims to have a sinless new nature, you are doing a great job of proving that pride is the one thing you haven't managed to repent of yet. It is pretty clear that your performance hasn't changed your heart, only your ego. I will leave you to your mirror.
 
Yes, but if works don’t follow…..(you’re not living in Christ), it’s dead.
This is where some faith-alone Christians part ways. Some will acknowledge that without doing the will of God, then their 'faith-alone' is proven dead and insufficient to save anyone. Though they still balk at Scripture saying we are justified by works, and not by faith-alone.

But, the mainstream faith-alone advocates, do not just speak of faith-alone without works, but they preach an eternally saving faith-alone apart from any works at all. No works following have anything to do with their faith-alone in Christ, unconditionally justifying them with God. Once having faith-alone in Christ, all works are then nullified with God.

Salvation is a free gift given to those that believe (pistis, a noun) in Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:15

Salvation is a free gift and is given by the grace of Jesus Christ.

So, you certainly will transgress, relentlessly by your faith-alone. Also by the grace of your Christ. And you certainly won't repent of transgressing, ever. Not by your faith-alone. Also not by the grace of your Christ.
