“Please explain what your understanding of salvation is. I can't find what you say regarding the op anywhere”
i really have no interest in interacting any further with you I’m gonna put you on ignore
Well, that's still an answer.
“Please explain what your understanding of salvation is. I can't find what you say regarding the op anywhere”
i really have no interest in interacting any further with you I’m gonna put you on ignore
Yes. It's true I do agree.
And if you will notice Jesus stated in Luke 6:48 that the wise man lays a foundation upon the rock. And Hebrews 6:1-2 lists the foundational components of which He speaks. They parallel the commands that all must believe and obey. as presented by Peter, Philip, Ananias, Paul, as well as others.
Lastly, you are wrong about our not needing to wait as the apostles did in order to be endued with power. Jesus told the apostles to teach others to observe all things whatsoever He had commanded them:
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matt. 28:18-20
Also, food for thought. I'm not sure if you've ever noticed but 100% of the individuals who received the Holy Ghost spoke in tongues in the conversion accounts that detail everything Peter presented at Pentecost.

No need to be rude. I thought you might just want to consider what the scriptures convey. And your point is? Get a clue
I can see why you feel as you do. It always amazes me how some people feel it necessary to resort to personal attacks when others disagree with them.“Please explain what your understanding of salvation is. I can't find what you say regarding the op anywhere”

Ecclesiasticus 25:24 Of the woman came the beginning of sin, and through her we all die.Two different salvations
Faith alone = placed into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit. This saves you from the second death.
Works through Faith = activity of righteousness defined by being led by the Spirit of God. This saves you from the corruption of the world.
Adam is responsible for the sin in the flesh. Therefore a new identity, not in Adam, is required to escape the second death. Here, faith is required.
Satan is responsible for the corruption of the world. He is the god of the air. The systems he created are designed to entrap men within them through messages of self-reliance and fear. Only people who are in Christ may accomplish works of faith that "deliver them from evil". By these works they are saved, not to go to heaven (that is already accomplished), but from the ways of the wicked one.
That’s why Sirach is not canon.Ecclesiasticus 25:24 Of the woman came the beginning of sin, and through her we all die.
1 Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Oh it doesn’t bother me , it’s hard to discuss the Bible with someone who won’t discuss what the Bible actually says was more the issue brother . I’m too old to waste my time or someone else’s on interaction like that . It’s the hyper grace blindfold doctrine that bugs me …..look what it does to folksI can see why you feel as you do. It always amazes me how some people feel it necessary to resort to personal attacks when others disagree with them.
this doesn't apply to me as I'm not offending GodCan I ask you a legitimate question ? I’ll keep it short and to the point
what do you do with the doctrine like this ?
“
But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.
Again, nothing I'm doing is self-seeking or rejecting the truth.God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”
To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.”
Romans 2:1, 5-8 NIV
Is your position that whether we receive eternal life from God or wrath and anger ….. we’re saved either way ? Or that Paul dodkt really teach this in several epistles ? Or that we don’t need to believe the Bible ? It’s hard to understand your explanation and also read the Bible
yeah this isnt referring to salvation... move along...“Again you don't understand what your reading, “
yeah who could possibly decipher this mystery
“Again you don't understand what your reading, “
yeah who could possibly decipher this mystery
“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 6:14-15 KJV
What a mystery ….
It’s not that I can’t understand it , it’s that you won’t accept what the lord said
But honestly this is a waste of time. I hope rejecting the lords word and calling that grace works out for you
yes i agree and you apparently cant understand the truth.False religion turns shadows and symbols of salvation into the substance and the source.
I'm a bit confused by your post. I thought we were on the same page.yes i agree and you apparently cant understand the truth.
Sorry, hit reply instead of likeHebrews 10:10-14 is not only about Jesus' sacrifice that does not need repeating but also being sanctified, which is a continuous and permanent state. These passages of scripture emphasize that Jesus' single offering is sufficient for the sanctification of believers, marking a permanent state of being sanctified/set apart for God. This is once for all/perfected forever.
Romans 8:30...and whom He justified, these He also glorified. *ALL of them. *Notice how Paul uses the past tense for a future event to stress its certainty.
1 Corinthians 6:11 - And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Prescriptive is in order to obtain salvation. Descriptive is a description of those already saved.
If someone doesn't follow Jesus' teachings, then they demonstrate they are not saved. How could someone be born of God, yet never follow the teachings of Jesus? That would be an oxymoron.
I see the case you are making which culminates in salvation by works. Been there, done that back when I was still a Roman Catholic.
I see what is written in Hebrews 12:14-17. Pursue holiness/sanctification does not mean pursue personal holiness based on works until you are finally "holy enough" in order to merit eternal life. It is a warning for those who fail to pursue and end up falling short/failing to obtain the grace of God. (Hebrews 12:15) Your interpretation of Hebrews 12:14 sounds similar to what I was taught while still attending the Roman Catholic church. The process of becoming holier and holier (holier than thou) through time until you are finally ready to meet the Lord at the end of our life based on finally being "holy enough."
In Hebrews 12:14, the NASB reads - Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. Those who have been justified by faith are also sanctified/set apart/made holy before God positionally in Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:11 - Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Yet we also have progressive or ongoing sanctification in which the reality of that holiness becomes more and more evident in our actions, words, thoughts, attitudes, and motives. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, - For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain (present tense) from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.
So, becoming washed, sanctified and justified in Christ is a one-time event, yet abstaining from sexual immorality is not a one-time event. The believer possesses a positional, judicial standing of righteousness in Christ and, second, a remaining active pursuit in practical, progressive holiness, in regard to our ongoing sanctification.
*So, without justification, there is no sanctification. Our ongoing sanctification has no bearing on our justification. That is, even if we don't reach entire sanctification/sinless perfection in this lifetime (which we won't) we are still justified by faith in Christ (Romans 5:1). Those who do not pursue sanctification is descriptive of those who fall short/fail to obtain the grace of God.
Those who are saved will live in a certain way or else they end up demonstrating they are not children of God. (1 John 3:10) Now good luck with being "holy enough" to merit eternal life. God's standard is perfection and only Jesus Christ has met that standard (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 14:15; 1 Peter 2:22) but none of us have. (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:10-12; 23; 1 John 1:8-10)
He is legion...some agreed, some didn't.I'm a bit confused by your post. I thought we were on the same page.![]()
well its possible but because there are so many differing dialogs going on, im having a hard time keeping up with who said what,. I am a protestant Christian, salvation by faith alone, "works" are simply fruits after the fact and not some blend of OT law and works based salvation. The mosaic law is not binding on Christians. The sabbath isn't mandated on Christians because we have our rest in Christ, whenever.yes i agree and you apparently cant understand the truth.

thats pretty funny. He is legion...some agreed, some didn't.
You need to understand the rewards and punishment system for those who are saved. The saved person when they do some great thing or are very fervent in their walk receive crowns... when they sin the lose crowns. If they don't forgive someone it doesn't negate salvation it potentially removes crowns.“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 6:14-15 KJV
Seriously, you are frustrated because I won't accept YOUR interpretation. This is why throwing scripture at each other is meaningless. Ask a 10-yr old what love is and ask a 70-yr old and they are going to have very different definitions. This is the case between you and me. I can only suggest that you continue in your research of the truth without presuppositions. Then you may get to the point of understanding where you can have a meaningful debate with me (or anyone) over whatever topic. It’s not that I can’t understand it, it’s that you won’t accept what the lord said
Here is the crux of the issue, you are too immature to have the conversation. Understanding the meaning of the biblical text and its teaching are not a waste of time. I'm not rejecting the lord's word I'm rejecting your interpretation because I know the argument, both sides of it, better than you do. We are told to be ready to defend our faith and to have answers. I didn't just flip open a bible and do a keyword search to disprove you. I have been here before. But honestly this is a waste of time. I hope rejecting the lords word and calling that grace works out for you
1. Receiving the Holy Ghost into one's body is essential for salvation. (Rom. 8:9) And all accounts that record specific details show tongues was the evidence that accompanied the experience. That is true but nowhere in scripture is it indicated that you are not saved if you don't speak in tongues.
Is tongues the only spiritual gift you make a fuss about or do you think we all should have every gift that Paul lists?
If you think a one off occurence is the precedent, then perhaps lean out a building and convert 2000 to the gospel. I'm not making a joke here, but your premise is that flimsy. Like saying if Philip was carried away by the Holy Spirit, then we should be able to do that to.
Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? I Cor. 12:30
Do you know more than the author of a huge chunk of the New Testament
