Isaiah 49:1-2

Listen, o coastlands, to me,
and take heed you peoples from afar!
The Lord has called me from the womb;
from the matrix of my mother
He has made mention of my name.
And He has made my mouth like a sharp sword;
in the shadow of His hand He has hidden me,
and made me a polished shaft;
in His quiver He has hidden me.

i know it's difficult to understand this singer - but lyrics =

Listen, o coastlands, to me,
and take heed you peoples from afar!
The Lord has called me from the womb;
from the matrix of my mother
He has made mention of my name.
And He has made my mouth like a sharp sword;
in the shadow of His hand He has hidden me,
and made me a polished shaft;
in His quiver He has hidden me.

Yes, thanks for bringing up the thread again, after a year=). I loved the thread, but do not really know that many Scripture songs-- tho i tried to learn some a little at a time. Those i knew were just so valuable that i could sing them when i needed the Scriptures in life. Now i think i will ask and seek for more again.

Chorus:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
Lean not on your own understanding
In all of your ways acknowledge Him
And He will make you paths straight

(Proverbs 3:5-6)

Don't worry about tomorrow
(Mathew 6:34)

He's got it under control
Just trust in the Lord with all of your heart
And He will carry you through

same Psalm arranged by Sons of Korah

this group recorded a large number of Psalms sung in a folksy way, accompanied usually with acoustic guitar & string music :)

The one that just popped off the top of my head and that has made a big change in my life, is based off the popular verse psalm 46;10 called Be Still by Jeremy Camp

Leper ((probably the best 'goth music' Christian artist currently recording)) released a new album today --

track 1:

Leper - The Greatest Commandment

lyrics = 1 Cornthians 13:4-7, chorus = v.13b

i've heard it only once and it's immediately one of 'my favorite scripture songs'

Withered (John 15:1-17)

I am the true vine
My Father is the gardener
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit
He prunes the fruitful branch so it will be more fruitful

If anyone does not remain in Me, He's like a branch that's
thrown away and withers,
Thrown into the fire and burned

I am the vine, you are the branches
If a man remains in Me and I in him
He will bear much fruit
Apart from Christ you can do nothing

As the Father has loved me
So have I loved you
Now remain in My love

If you obey my commands
You will remain in My love
Just as I've obeyed my Father's commands
and remain in His love.

Veni Domine - The Chronicle of the 7 Seals

PROLOGUE - (Part I)
THE SCROLL AND THE LAMB
Then I Saw In The Right Hand Of Him
Who Sat On The Throne
A Scroll With Writing On The Both Sides
And Sealed With Seven Seals
I Heard A Mighty Angel Proclaiming In A Loud Voice
"Who Is Worthy To Break The Seals And Open The Scroll?"
But No One In Heaven Or Under The Earth
Could Open The Scroll Or Look Inside
I Wept And Wept Because No One Was Found
Who Was Worthy To Open The Scroll Or Look Inside
Then I Heard One Of The Elders Say To Me
"Do Not Weep"
See The Lion Of The Tribe Of Judah
The Root Of David Has Won
He Is Able To Open The Scroll
And Its Seven Seals
Then I Saw A Lamb Looking As If It Had Been Slain
Standing In The Center Of The Throne
Encircled By The Four Living Creatures
And The Elders
He Had Seven Horns And Seven Eyes
Which Are The Seven Spirits Of God
Sent Out Into All The Earth
He Came And Took The Scroll From
The Right Hand Of Him Who Sat On The Throne
And When He Had Taken It
The Four Living Creatures And The Elders
Fell Down Before The Lamb
Each One Had A Harp
And They Were Holding Golden Bowls
Full Of Incense
Which Are The Prayers Of The Saints
And They Sang A New Song

(Part II)
THE SEALS
-Seal I
I Watched As The Lamb Opened The First Of The Seven Seals
Then I Heard One Of The Four Living Creatures
Say In A Voice Like Thunder:
"Come"
There Before Me Was A White Horse
It's Rider Held A Bow
He Was Given A Crown
He Rode Out As Conqueror
Bent On Conquest
-Seal II
Then Another Horse Came Out
A Fiery Red One
Its Rider Was Given Power To Take Peace From The Earth
To Him Was Given A Large Sword
-Seal III
And There Before Me Was A Black Horse
Its Rider Was Holding A Pair Of Scales
Then I Heard A Voice Among The Four Living Creatures Saying
"A Quart Of Wheat For A Day's Wages
Three Quarts Of Barley For A Day's Wages
And Do Not Damage The Oil And The Wine"
-Seal IV
There Before Was A Pale Horse
Its Rider Was Named Death
And Hades Was Following Close Behind Him
They Were Given Power
Over A Fourth Of The Earth To Kill By Sword
Famine And Plagues And By The Wild Beasts Of The Earth
-Seal V
I Saw Those Who Had Been Slain Because Of The Word Of God
And I Heard Them Call Out In A Loud Voice:
"How Long Sovereign Lord Holy And True
Until You Judge The Earth And Avenge Our Blood?"
Then Each Of Them Was Given A White Robe
And They Were Told To Wait A Little Longer
-Seal VI
There Was A Great Earthquake And The Sun Turned To Black
I Saw The Whole Moon Turn Blood Red
And The Stars In The Sky Fell Down To The Earth
As Drops From A Tree When Shake By The Wind
The Sky Receded Like A Scroll
And Every Mountain Was Removed From Its Place
Then The Kings Of The Earth I Saw The Rich I Saw The Mighty
Every Slave And Avery Freeman Hid In Caves In The Mountains
"Fall On Us And Hide Us From The Face Of Him Who Sits On The
Throne
And From The Wrath Of The Lamb
For A Great Day Has Come And Who Can Stand?"

(Part III)
THE GOLDEN CENSER
-Seal VII
I Felt The Silence In The Sky
There Was A Wonder In The Air
Because The Numbers Was Complete
The Time Had Come When All The Seals Were Broken
All Things I Saw Were Like A Dream
There Was A An Angel Dressed In White
I Saw The Glory In His Face
He Came And Stood At The Altar
Then I Could See In His Hand
A Censer Of Gold
And Much Incense For Offerings Was Given To Him
I Saw The Smoke From The Incense Rise Up Before The Lord
Together With The Prayers Of The Saints
Prophecy - Is Spoken
Prophecy - Forever
We're Running Out Of Time
Prophecy - Is Calling
Prophecy - For Mankind
You Cannot Run Away
Then The Angel Took The Censer
Filled It With The Fire From The Altar
He Raised His Hand And Hurled It On The Earth
With Mighty Peals Of Thunder
I May See The Coming King Appear In Majesty
To Proclaim His Kingdom's Coming
Meanwhile At The World's Dark End
The Nations Raise Their Hands
Waiting For The Serpent To Strike
The Seals Are Broken

Mortification - Scrolls of the Megilloth

Guidance of our intimacy
Holy love is what I see
Direction from the book of life
Song of songs in the Megilloth

Existence of admiration
Man's part of God's creation
Scrolls of the Megilloth
Scrolls of the Megilloth

David's genealogy
A female friend is she
Ruth is a book of love
To overcome difficulties
Boaz, symbolic of Christ
Redeeming His holy Church

Esther, victory of morals
Over conniving racist king
Sovereignty and great courage
Protection of God's people

Taken to captivity
A sense of tragedy
Jeremiah's Lamentation
Grieving for his nation
Destruction is a logical result
Of defying God

A book of philosophy
Frustration absurdity
Everything has a season
Purposed under Heaven
Ecclesiastes, Solomon's searching
Just like your life

are you familiar with Armath Sargon?

he recorded the entire book of revelation as an unblack metal song, split into two discs, running time about 2hrs.
it was released as a free dl but i can't find anything except dead links to it -- so i uploaded it to dropbox. included in link are files as original & low quality ((smaller)) and the two discs merged to one track for continuous listening.

@KalleKannisto of course let me know if you would like me to disable the link :)

Make My Life a Prayer to You
Keith Green

Make my life a prayer to you
I wanna do what you want me to
No empty words and no white lies
No token prayers no compromise
I wanna shine the light you gave
Through your son you sent to save us
From ourselves and our despair
It comforts me to know you're really there
Well I wanna thank you know
For being patient with me
Oh it's so hard to see
When my eyes are on me
I guess I'll have to trus
And just believe what you say
Oh you're coming again
Coming to take me away
I wanna die and let you give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope you gave me
The love that set me free
I wanna tell the world out there
You're not some fable or fairy tale
That I've made up inside my head
You're God the son and you've risen from the dead
Well I wanna thank you know
For being patient with me
Oh it's so hard to see
When my eyes are on me
I guess I'll have to trus
And just believe what you say
Oh you're coming again
Coming to take me away
I wanna die and let you give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope you gave me
The love that set me free

Hi All,
I was listening earlier to Keith Green's rendition of Psalm 23. It occurred to me that it is one of my favourite songs which is basically Scripture set to music. I like the way he put the song together musically, lyrically, and scripturally...

Okay, that's a mouthful. I like the music itself, separate from the words. It is joyful and tense, darkness and dawn, all just with notes. I like how he took the words of Scripture and, without changing or rearranging them too much, set them to music such that they flow with the music; the words go along well with the notes and chords underneath them. I also like that he didn't twist the meaning of the Scripture to make his song, as songwriters are somewhat prone to do, or force-fit parts of the passage.

So, with those parameters in mind, what are some of your favourite songs which are basically Scripture set to music?

Please note that I am not asking what "your favourite piece of Scripture" is, which happens to be set to music... that's a different question! :)
Psalm 91......:)

So cool you went to church with Todd and Nicole. Nicol Sponberg has such a beautiful voice. :)

And amen to God's grace and livingkindness toward us.
