this is how Torah says you must honor this feast:

On the first day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work. It is a day for you to blow the trumpets, and you shall offer a burnt offering, for a pleasing aroma to the Lord: one bull from the herd, one ram, seven male lambs a year old without blemish; also their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, three tenths of an ephah for the bull, two tenths for the ram, and one tenth for each of the seven lambs; with one male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for you; besides the burnt offering of the new moon, and its grain offering, and the regular burnt offering and its grain offering, and their drink offering, according to the rule for them, for a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the Lord.
(Numbers 29:1-6)

it is also written in Torah that no offering may be made at any place other than the temple: so you are blaspheming the day by not making the sacrifices the Torah requires, and even if any of you are blaspheming by offering something like the thing prescribed but not the thing exactly, and even if you are blaspheming by acting as a Levite even though you are not, and certainly have not been ordained, then you would be blaspheming by making this offering in any case because (1) it is impossible that you offer it at the temple which does not exist and (2) you dishonor Christ whose perfect sacrifice takes away all other sacrifices forever.

so seeing as how there is no more temple, and no more Levite beside -- do not lie to yourself and think that any of you, not even the orthodox Jew today, is observing this feast.
you are playing at it.

so you'd better be glad that these things are from the old covenant that we as being found in Christ are not brought in under -- since if this was not the case, then every one of us are condemned to the righteous judgement of God for dishonoring the appointed day and breaking the commandments to observe them.

Thank God that Jesus is our righteousness! We can trust Him. Blow the trumpets ( if that rings your bell ) in honor of what Christ has done for us in setting us free from the Law SO THAT we could be joined to Another - Christ Himself!

 Raise a song; sound the tambourine, the sweet lyre with the harp.

Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day.

scripturally, being obvious from the passage from Numbers above, it should coincide with the new moon ((which was last night)), making scripturally, today the feast of trumpets, but today's Hebrew calendar 'fixes' Rosh Hanashah so that other dates later in the year won't cause problems with observance of fasting and feasting at the same time, using a method of mathematical calculation of days rather than the method of observing the new moon in Jerusalem.
so the *majority* of Hebrew calendars today ((though there is still a minority of orthodox who contest it)) count the months and days by scribal calculation, instead of by the universe the Lord created, i.e. the moon -- and mark the 3rd and 4th of October ((starting with sundown on the 2nd)) as this year's Rosh Hanashah.

that's right -- two days.
because in the diaspora, there was uncertainty about when the priest in Jerusalem had observed the new moon and so the new month began. a new month wasn't determined by a fixed calendar, but by the phases of the moon -- and this as observed at the site of the temple. so a runner had to be sent after a priest trained in astronomy observed the moon, to alert Jews scattered by the captivities that the month or year had begun. to accommodate possible discrepancy, Jews living away from the land of Israel celebrated for two days, instead of one, as it was celebrated in Israel proper. later, when they began to return to Jerusalem a few hundred years after Christ, because of the different traditions that arose in the diaspora, as a way of compromise Rosh Hanashah in particular began to be celebrated for two days.

now modern Hebrew calendars say it is october 3 and 4, so that by tradition the observance of this, even by orthodox Jews, besides being contrary to the Law since the official offerings are not made, do not celebrate on the proper day - it does not coincide with the new moon as it should - and celebrate for two days instead of one -- in both cases, clearly contrary to scripture.

so don't pretend you are.
all you're doing is mocking it if you say you are actually observing it, especially if you claim to be 'keeping Torah' by refusing to mow the lawn or take out the garbage for religious reasons.
 
i'm pointing this out because we need to be honest, and not make a mockery of the scripture.

you want to honor these practices of the old covenant, because you love God and want to remember Him? that's wonderful! do it for the Lord. that is good, and right - and totally not required of you.

but do not go around talking as if you are 'Torah observant' because you are not. without the temple, it is impossible that these things are being kept as they should be, and the calendar the Jews keep today is not the calendar as it was kept in the days of the temple.

instead please recognize and admit that Christ is the completion and substance of all these things, and focus and meditate on Him and what He has done as you do what is in your heart to do.

i am of firm opinion that to pretend you are keeping these things as the Torah prescribed them to be kept is making a mockery of them, because they are not kept as they were in those days, not even by the ultra-orthodox Jews today. there is no physical temple, and no Levite, and in all likelihood you have the wrong actual day anyway. we are the temple, and Christ is the high priest, and in Him we are all priests and ministers of a new covenant that is not like the old!!

thank God that He does not require of you that thing that you cannot possibly do!
but to believe in the Son, and to have love for one another!
even if love must be expressed as reproof :)

yea sure....but bear with the reading lol :) It's a long and sometimes thick read (esp b/c he tries to use big words too much imo)....but the information is fascinating.....along with the pictographs/charts...

Basically he says to sum it up that the year 5777 begins on Oct 3rd and opens a "new era/age" of the antichrist.....I really can't explain the whole thing b/c it is so thick and compares the historical time line to the pyramids in egypt and stretches the time line vertically from base of the pyramid to the top/apex (being the return of Christ/millenial reign).....I encourage you to read it for some interesting things just keep an open mind as he compares the biblical timeline to the pyramid of egypt's architecture :).....

16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose [which ended up being Jerusalem]; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty:

17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee. (from Deut. 16)​


After all, it is not too difficult for you, yes? Especially in this era of air travel?

I hear it's lovely there this time of year!

I've asked this question of several of the Law 'keepers' here, but no one will answer me!

The truth is "none of them are". They are not real law-keepers - they are favorite law of Moses keepers. They keep the laws of Moses that to them are "do-able" and thus try to get people to desert Christ to follow their religion. Gal. 1:6.... Not going to work...:)

If you study Ezekiel, you will find that the Spirit of God left the temple (and Jerusalem).

A little study of Acts chapter 2 might be in order as well.

Yep, the Law is not to difficult for them, except for the parts that are, or the parts that they don't want to do . . .
