Several years ago I had a job as an offsider for a rug delivery company. One day the driver ( my boss) noticed a brand new tyre falling off a trailer in front of us. He stopped the truck,raced out , picked up the tyre and put it in the back of our truck. I said nothing, as I was new to the job and wanted to avoid conflict. Then we pulled over in a car park. The guy who lost the tyre pulled up alongside us and retrieved his new tyre from us. Otherwise my boss would have kept it.
I didnt think much of the incident at the time because I was focussed solely on learning the job. But in retrospect i feel this "finders keepers" morality must be quite common. And it is wrong. But in their mind it is not.

Sounds like he was correcting a road hazard situation, if you had your job after giving the tire back, I would go with that.
Do you know for a fact he wanted to keep it?

and he was an ex policeman...in another country before he immigrated.
Im not judging the sinner just the sin. He was low working class with 2 kids and a wife to support. maybe he could sell on e bay. personally i couldnt be bothered to do such a thing.

In some low working class neighbourhoods, there is a different code. Who am I to judge? I have never been that poor I guess...but it would definitely be sinful for me to have such a "finders keepers" mentality.

And it’s possible that someone had the attitude of “well if they just throw it out why not take it.” And can get that if it’s like a junkyard or someone put something on the road to have it be free scrap. But right after a person accidentally has it broken? Ehhhhhhh....

I had some glitter glue go missing in my office and one of the girls reckons one of the boys took it. Not sure what to believe as what would a boy want with glitter glue.

Some kids just take things without asking, thing is, you always ask first. But these are poor kids so there is a bit of a different code with poor kids sometimes, they are so hungry that they need to eat so they will just take to satisfy their hunger, not even waiting to say grace, give thanks or whatever.

Its just a the odd kid though not all are like that.
Lunchtime I have observed its like feeding time at the zoo.
