Joaniemarie, I truly hope you will be like the Veteran Jews in Acts 17:11, and not trust any man's interpretation without confirming it with other verses. If you're truly interested on what Jesus-not some wealthy televangelist-has to say about money, then please read Matthew chapter 6:19-34.
Didymous, I've observed some people see what they want to see when they read my posts. Most of the crazy accusations have nothing to do with what I post but everything to do with what some say I post. And because of people's past experiences having to do with faith., they have a hard time with the message of healing in the atonement., as well as many other things I hold to that the Bible clearly teaches.
But since discovering about the love and grace of God I like to come to cc and share what I'm learning more every day. I'm not deterred by the angry group that continues to malign the message.
If you read any of my posts., it's clear I know enough of the Bible to be able to discuss just as well as most here. The problem comes when those who don't like word of faith leanings distort what is posted. It's not up to me to convince those who appose the message of the gospel of grace and truth that Jesus brought. That is a work of the Holy Spirit.
I also wish the same for you Didymous that you take no man at his word but look into the Bible and allow the HolySpirit to teach you. And that you will read the OP and not the many rabbit trails of those who appose the OP.

In Athens during the days of Paul, Athenians had a god for every little purpose, because they could not perceive "One God." They even erected a statue to "the unknown god." And they had faith in him/her/it.
Was Paul wrong to preach to them because they might come to unbelief in their gods?

And, as one that does respond to what you post, the concept that you know enough about the Bible is a lie. I've asked for your understanding of the Bible, and you, literally couldn't give any. Not that you understood something wrong. You sincerely didn't understand anything at all about the beginning of Job. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. And yet you copy-pasted Ellis who out and out lied about the beginning of Job. And in like kind, you've just done the same thing with Prince. Copy-paste about has/given, without any understanding was has been given or what can be given. Instead you accepted "it" was a name it, claim it thing, because that's what Prince believes. So, no really. You're posts do not say, "it's clear I know enough of the Bible to be able to discuss just as well as most here," because you never actually discuss the Bible. You copy-paste, than rant about others rabbit holes, then copy-paste, and all the while seeking anyone who might be game for such beliefs to cajole them into your anti-bible beliefs. The context is about sharing what we have: giving.
The parable of investing is about making room in our lives to receive by sharing what we have.
"Give and it shall be given to you," is the context of "For everyone who has, more will be given."
But if we have not shared the little we have, keeping it for ourselves, "Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it."

well, Matthew 25:29 does not contain the imperative command of you have 'it' so say 'it'
apart from the fact that the word 'it', as tiny and leetle as it is, can mean absolutely anything and different things to 100 people, or any other number you can come up with, the chapter must be understood in context. It contains the parable of the 10 virgins who are raising their eyebrows at Prince's speculative rendering and passive submission to whatever is whispering in his itching ears and apparently they are not important even though Jesus thought they were.
what is it we are supposed to be 'itting' here exactly? well, it seems from the 'expository' venture into Prince's WOF domain that the 'it' is a popular and well liked member of the 'id' or personal agenda of the reader and therefore might well be translated as 'if you want it, it is yours so just keep telling yourself you got it baby and by and large, possibly later rather than sooner or maybe even in the sweet bye and bye, you will obtain whatever it is your beating heart lusts after...er...wants. well enough of my observations regarding Prince and the fact I believe he is becoming less biblical and more heretical in his renderings. let's answer the question of what that verse...AS INTENDED BY JESUS...actually means...which will be done by tucking the little fella smartly into the rest of the chapter so he is not lost and floundering on a sea of someone's imagination
first of all, Jesus is speaking of the kingdom of heaven here and the parable of the 10 virgins is contained in the first 13 verses. the verses 14-30 are also a parable about the kingdom of heaven and what do you know? 31-46 contains that famous exception that WOFers believe refers to those who were never saved even though Jesus never ever even hints at that, but I guess it is comforting when you believe that no matter what it does not apply to you because you are obviously saved and following a false teacher (but then you don't know that because everyone else is false for pointing out that Prince is so far off target that he has been eliminated from the competition even though, apparently, millions are cheering him on)
so we have 2 parables spoken by Jesus and illustrating the kingdom of heaven...and despite what NAR teaches, that is not here and now because their bedeviled fake prophets say so.
and then we have a BIG WARNING in the last part of the chapter wherein people are rejected by Jesus because they USED His name for their own purposes,

He's a Hyper Grace Preacher... I thought these posts should be banned / reported? Isn't there a rule against this?
For so many years I wondered what this could possibly mean. Why would God who is so good and merciful especially to the have not's and needy in this world take away the little they had???? Why would His Word tell us to care for those who are without?
Why would the Bible tell us to be like Jesus and even give up our coat for others who need it? I just could not understand this.
It was not until I began reading the Bible for myself and getting "detoxified" from my old religious up bringing that I was ready to hear the truth. It was not God our loving generous kind Abba Father taking the little I had away. No.,
It was as it always was and is here on earth... the devil and the world and the flesh. Stealing and killing and destroying come from the devil.., not the One who Jesus came to represent in all His fullness.
God is always the Giver because of Jesus we see how MUCH He gave and gives at all times. He who did not withhold His VERY BEST Romans 8:32

Daily believing and leaning on the love of God in Jesus is the only WAY to find deliverance from wrong believing and wrong living. The Bible says and ye shall know the truth and the truth will set you free... John 8:32 But unless we 'BELIEVE' the truth... it will not take place in our daily lives.

have you read the chapter? it is about the kingdom of heaven and has absolutely nothing to do with if you say 'it' enough it is yours

so, if you don't want to know what others think, don't keep posting in the Bible DISCUSSION forum...but we are not really discussing the Bible if you post remarks from Prince...we are discussing Prince's false teachings that are his own thoughts and not backed up by the Bible
he used to seem to have some good things to say mixed in with error of his own making, but he is getting worse if this post means anything
I have never seen one single person who believed in WOF post that verse as an example of name IT and claim IT

but what Prince says regarding the words of Jesus has not cleared up the mystery for you
the truth has been given once for all...that includes Prince...but he rejects the truth for his own error in preference for twisting the word and cherry picking verses...here, in the devotional, he has chosen one verse out of the entire 25th chapter that actually has 46 verses and he has attempted to insert that verse into his interpretation of WOF
the thing is, the entire chapter is Jesus speaking and Jesus is speaking of the kingdom of heaven and at the end of the 2 parables, He gives a dire warning to those who USE the name of CHRIST for personal gain
the gospel was never meant to be used for personal gain

As with the first disciples, God has given us the message of the gospel to share. As we do, we have the authority to be conduits of healing and blessing every day. God’s Spirit inhabits us. He is perfect love, joy, peace, patience and kindness, and those things are ours when we yield to Him. We received these blessings freely, and freely we must give them away.
So what gifts has God given you? Ask God to tell you how, where and to whom you can freely give them away. As you use them to serve others, you will experience the blessed life.
see? the blessed life is not in material gain and not in lusting after what others have or thinking if you say something often enough and believe it (that is not actually faith) you will get what you are imagining...all that really is a type of new age thought...which I won't get into because that might be another topic, but nonetheless repetition is vain, Jesus said, so why teach that saying something over and over will make it true is a Christian principal? it is not Christian...it is new age
now the website of the church that featured the article I posted is not cessationist, but they do seem to understand what the word says far better than Prince who seems to think Jesus is all about what you can GET

I don't see where JP was speaking about prosperity financially, but in the Word of God.
My opinion of the scripture there, is when we are walking in the revelation of the Word that we have, then more revelation is given.
It would be affecting all of our life. For that is the definition of prosperity biblically. Can be money too though. But, I value the Word, the Spirit of the Word worth more...

God is telling Abraham what He, God, is going to do
notice Abraham is not telling God what to do
now the verse in question, quoted below, plainly states that it is GOD who calls forth and not Abraham and certainly not us as we cannot quicken the dead

Well 7seas., it seems we might have a conversation going. I can read your post and see why you believe the way you do. And why I don't believe the way you do. We have been given authority here on earth as the sons of God. And we have been told to walk out our authority in Christ. That's why it's so vital to know who we really are IN Christ.
When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost their position (and ours). The authority they had been given by God, Adam forfeited to satan and Jesus had to get it back for us. Jesus is the last Adam. To this day Jesus is in His glorified body... the first of many brethren at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. He is our Great High Priest.
We hold the ground Jesus already won for us... bought and paid for. But we do it by faith and not by sight. Just as Abraham lived his life BY FAITH that is how we too are to live out lives here. BY FAITH.
I'll post some commentary that explains the verses about calling those things that are not as if they actually were (because they actually ARE) In Christ we have the promises but they need to be accessed BY FAITH. Without faith., we will live on this planet weak and beggarly lives because we have not believed in the promises that were freely given to us for the pilgrim journey here.
I find it so interesting too that both our commentary materials come from Christians who also see this issue differently. I'll be of the sort that does not condemn you for believing differently than me.
The phrase, “and calleth those things which be not as though they were,” is referring to the instance Paul had just cited when God changed Abram’s name to Abraham (Genesis 17:5). According to Strong’s Concordance, the name Abram means “high father,” and the name Abraham means “father of a multitude.” The Lord changed Abram’s name to Abraham one year before the birth of Isaac, thus confessing that Abraham was the father of a multitude before it happened in the physical.
This illustrates God’s faith. God says things are so before there is physical proof that they are so. The same thing was done at creation (Genesis 1). God spoke everything into existence, and then it was so. He spoke light into existence and then four days later created a source for that light to come from (Genesis 1:3 and 14-19).
God has given us the power to create with faith-filled words (Proverbs 18:20-21, see note 4 at Mark 11:14 and note 4 at Mark 11:23). If we are going to operate in God’s kind of faith, we have to learn to call those things that are not as though they were.
There was no hope in the natural for Abraham or his wife, Sarah. They were both as good as dead when it came to having children at their age. Therefore, they rejected the natural and believed God with a supernatural hope. There is a natural hope that everyone has, and there is a supernatural hope that is imparted by God (1 Corinthians 13:13). To receive miracles, we have to reject the limitations of natural hope and press on to obtain God’s supernatural hope through faith.
NOTE 8 AT ROMANS 4:18:
Abraham’s faith was based on God’s Word. Every word of God is powerful and contains the faith of God to bring that word to pass (see note 4 at Matthew
14:29). If we will only consider God’s Word, then we will only believe (Romans 8:6, see note 9 at Romans 4:19).
Abraham did not think carefully about his age and Sarah’s and the impact that would have on the promise God had given him. He did not take those things
into account or make any allowance for them. That was not what he paid attention to.That is amazing, and that is exactly the reason many of us would not be
able to receive the same miracle. We consider every negative thing that looks contrary to God’s promises, and then we try to use our faith to overcome the fear and unbelief that come through those thoughts (see note 3 at Matthew 17:20). That’s not the way Abraham was strong in faith.
Abram was seventy-five years old when the Lord first promised him that he would have a child and that all the nations of the earth would be blessed through him (Genesis 12:1-4). He was ninety-nine years old in this instance that Paul cited (Genesis 17:1), and Sarah was ninety years old (Genesis 17:17). Yet he didn’t even take into account the impossibility of what God had promised him.
It is true that Abraham was strong in faith (Romans 4:20), but the thing that made him strong in faith was
the fact that he kept his mind stayed on God’s promise. NOTE 7SEAS
Equally important was that he kept his mind off anything that would have been contrary to God’s promise. Many people desire the same strong faith that Abraham had, but very few desire to control their thinking the way Abraham did.
Faith is a direct result of what you think on. If you think on God’s Word, faith comes (Romans 8:6 and 10:17). If you think on other things, unbelief and fear come (Romans 8:6, see note 39 at Matthew 6:22 and notes 40 and 41 at Matthew 6:23). If you want the faith of Abraham working in you, then think the way he thought and never consider anything except God’s Word, and you will be strong in faith.

There was no hope in the natural for Abraham or his wife, Sarah. They were both as good as dead when it came to having children at their age. Therefore, they rejected the natural and believed God with a supernatural hope. There is a natural hope that everyone has, and there is a supernatural hope that is imparted by God (1 Corinthians 13:13). To receive miracles, we have to reject the limitations of natural hope and press on to obtain God’s supernatural hope through faith.
NOTE 8 AT ROMANS 4:18:
Abraham’s faith was based on God’s Word. Every word of God is powerful and contains the faith of God to bring that word to pass (see note 4 at Matthew
14:29). If we will only consider God’s Word, then we will only believe (Romans 8:6, see note 9 at Romans 4:19).
Abraham did not think carefully about his age and Sarah’s and the impact that would have on the promise God had given him. He did not take those things
into account or make any allowance for them. That was not what he paid attention to.That is amazing, and that is exactly the reason many of us would not be
able to receive the same miracle. We consider every negative thing that looks contrary to God’s promises, and then we try to use our faith to overcome the fear and unbelief that come through those thoughts (see note 3 at Matthew 17:20). That’s not the way Abraham was strong in faith.
Abram was seventy-five years old when the Lord first promised him that he would have a child and that all the nations of the earth would be blessed through him (Genesis 12:1-4). He was ninety-nine years old in this instance that Paul cited (Genesis 17:1), and Sarah was ninety years old (Genesis 17:17). Yet he didn’t even take into account the impossibility of what God had promised him.
It is true that Abraham was strong in faith (Romans 4:20), but the thing that made him strong in faith was
the fact that he kept his mind stayed on God’s promise. NOTE 7SEAS
Equally important was that he kept his mind off anything that would have been contrary to God’s promise. Many people desire the same strong faith that Abraham had, but very few desire to control their thinking the way Abraham did.
Faith is a direct result of what you think on. If you think on God’s Word, faith comes (Romans 8:6 and 10:17). If you think on other things, unbelief and fear come (Romans 8:6, see note 39 at Matthew 6:22 and notes 40 and 41 at Matthew 6:23). If you want the faith of Abraham working in you, then think the way he thought and never consider anything except God’s Word, and you will be strong in faith.

[/FONT][FONT="]this passage is not talking about gaining secular things, it is talking about fruit, which is produced when we use the talents given to us, god has gifted each person with talent, it is in his or her dna, and when we are saved, we can use that talen to produce fruit, god even promised us that are faithful in this gift, we can ask, and if we ask he will give us more gifts, and we will be rewarded for the fruit we produce
those who are never saved never produce fruit and will be cast to hell.

Here's what I think , or here's what came to mind.
It reminds me of sowing and reaping.
YOu can't give what you don't have, and if you sow, love, it comes back, or what ever,
Bible says, "what so ever a man sows that shall he reap."
YOu have to give,
you get back.
Wo though if hurt, and damage is sown, it also will come back.
In a harvest, back, of blessings, or curses,
Sowing and reaping.
