For Singles Looking to Get Married, How are You Preparing Yourselves?

I'm used to Hell Pizza. actually got it free because they do the book challenge thing.
Which reminds me I do need to use those as got 3 completed, you get a free snack pizza with one topping. But they do have gourmet pizza offerings, although the ingredients are probably locally produced, not flown all the way from New York or Italy.

still sounds delectable! i remember houlihan's in manhattan had a very good pizza. no surprise, right? you were able to eat it outside as they had a side walk counter.

? Isn't Phillipines a predominatley Catholic country though? Or am I wrong in that assumption. Holy matrimony is one of the sacraments in the Catholic church. It is a HUGE deal basically it means you need to be Catholic for life, your spouse if not already catholic has to convert to be a Catholic, and you need to pay tithes to the Catholic church because their churches require a lot of upkeep. When you die, you will have a mass requirem funeral in a Catholic church and will be buried in a Catholic graveyard.

I think this is why I don't want to get married here in the US. I don't want to divorce but the way things are now? No one wants the commitment.

we do not make our own. awhile back, my wife decided to embrace the carnivore diet so she doesn't pizza anymore but never really liked the quality of it as i didn't either. although my mom & dad were excellent cooks, they couldn't make great tasting pizza either. now you me thinking the i should check around again for quality pizza.

Maybe its the quality of the cheese? Do you use genuine mozzarella? American cheese I heard is too processed, and bright orange. Mac n Cheese cheese is just cheese powder with milk and water added.

Chinese culture is the same although one of my aunties is getting divorced because her husband threatened to kill her. He has a few mental health issues. My cousin has a restraining order against him.
But they were married for over 30 years.

whole milk mozzarella is tops. but lots of people complain about the cheese too. really, it s a disaster. totally true, lots of professed crap around america. this country has the worst food rules. another total disaster here. that's why i eat organic 99% of the time. sometimes we get groceries at "healthy living", in saratoga.

The traditional vows that you make at a wedding no longer apply. Some couples just make up their own vows. But just as many break them. My view is don't stay in an abusive marriage. If you can divorce, which is a mercy, its better than being abused or living in fear.

My cousin did that, he moved to America, specifically New York and made his money in investment banking.

That is also what one of our Prime Ministers did.

fresh produce is easy to get in summer. a massive amount of farmers are in the mid section of n.y. when shopping at "healthy living", you can up to 3 times as much.

My cousin is separated from his wife, not sure if officially divorced, but he is now seeing other women I can't keep track. However we still. in touch with his ex-wife as they have a son together. They split when he was about 12. So the marriage only lasted about 15 years or so. They married in the US.

We were sad because our family some of us flew to New York for their wedding. We still have their wedding photos on our mantlepiece.

wow! millions have done that. a democratic government has proven to be the best government. but if its implemented correctly, only then will it reach its full potential. & that's not the case in America anymore.

Well you meant to eat seasonally. In winter you just eat what is stored and keeps well, like pumpkin, apples and whatever you have canned/bottled/preserved.

Italians and French eat so well because they can grow things year round.
Those who live in the UK< if they want tomatoes out of season, they get them from Spain, but even Spain grows them in plastic covered hothouses for year round supply.

I'm definitely not trying to give the US a pass in any way. I understand that divorce rates in all circles are sky high here, and I think it's because of the emphasis now on personal happiness rather than commitment or community. But that's just me.

The reason I said anything is because the Christian circles I have been in seem to look at the cultural norms in other countries and start advocating that they should be adopted here, because they assume that it will work for all cultures.

For instance, there seemed to be a push for a while for arranged marriages -- at least in the circles I was in.

And some have felt that divorce should be made illegal here as well.

Like anything else, I think there are always pros and cons that need to be approached realistically.

So let's not look at other cultures then. What does God expect of us as people who want to married? I don't really want to get married in the US. I'm pretty happy being single. I don't think Christian men or women in the US take God seriously on wanting them to work out their marriages to last. That's why the divorce rate among Christians is so high.

So lets talk about the topic of commitment. If you want to get married, do you take commitment seriously? Not just you @seoulsearch , I'm asking every single Christian. And I'm sure you do @seoulsearch.

I wish people with successful marriages (first spouses to each other for their lifetime so far) would chime in. I think it would be helpful if they give us tips and examples of commitment to each other.
