Remember the Galatians were Jews who were converted to christianity, but were returning to Judaistic system of sacrifices and laws etc.. they were also in churches around Galatia.

So-- when Paul asks them:

Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

These are groups who received the Holy Spirit as the lampstand in their churches.

The law was given to the Jews not the Gentiles, Gentiles were never under the law.

As you grow in Christ, you will come to know and trust the inner voice of the Holy Spirit. He will tell you when you sin. Cultivate your relationship with Him through prayer and listening. For now, if you feel that 'speeding' is a sin, then for you it is. Repent and keep moving forward... at a more appropriate pace. :)

Romans 10-13 + Galatians 3:5~ Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
Does God lavish His Spirit on you and work miracles among you because you obey the law, or because you hear and believe?

I thought we are suppose to keep the law but then it says were free from the law??? What exactly does this mean???
1) Keeping the Law
Keep the Law is to Keep the Law.. People have over the years changed the meaning of the world KEEP to mean DO as in DO the LAW.. But the actual; word is KEEP.. meaning to have the law with you to know it in your mind to have it with you in your Bible.. Because the LAW is a tool to be used to show people that they are breakers of the LAW and therefore are guilty before God and they are facing the judgement of God.. What the Law does is cause us to know we are in need of the Atonement of the LORD Jesus to be saved.. So we Christians keep the Law with us as a teacher and a convictor..

(Romans 3:19-20) "Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. {20} Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin."

2)Free from the Law
We are free from the penalty of the LAW.. that penalty is being condemned at the last judgement and being cast into the eternal lake of fire.. Once a person is saved by believing Jesus and trusting in the Atonement Jesus secured on the cross then they are free from the power of the Law which is the second death..

When we become free from the law, two things need to be clarified.

How are we made free and which law or laws are we freed from?

Freedom by grace through faith.
Grace does not change the law, the penalty is not applied because of grace.

By grace the penalty was taken away, not the law.

Which law? Their are hundreds of laws and they can be divided into categories but the two groups that are important are the laws that were added because of sin and the laws that define sin.

The natural world has laws that keep nature in order. Sin has messed up the order and broken the laws so nature is no longer in perfect order.
We were given laws to protect us from sin. Righteousness is perfect obediance to these laws.

Today the laws that define sin and given to protect us from sin are still in place. Don't make this law void through grace.

Because Jesus paid the price of sin, we should not think it is okay to keep sinning.
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

We always have to obey the laws of love, moral laws, for they are spiritual laws.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

A Spirit led person can abstain from in for they show the ways of the Spirit and not the flesh so there is no excuse why a person that confesses Christ cannot abstain from sin.

And if there is no excuse then it is required.

The people that are led of the Spirit are not under the law for they are not sinning therefore the law cannot touch them for prosecution.

Every time we sin we forfeit repentance because we are not turning away from sin and are under the law until we repent and do not want the sin.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

If we hold on to sin then the blood of Jesus cannot wash it away because God will not take a sin away from us that we hold on to.

Millions of people that claim Christ live in sin and believe they still have salvation and believe they cannot abstain from sin.

But to me they want an excuse so they can enjoy sin for who twisted their arm to sin.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Some people have a form of living for God but they deny the Spirit leading them because they want to be led of the flesh and enjoy sin and believe they still have salvation.

Which God said to turn away from these people because of their hypocrisy.

If i don't know about a law, God winks at our ignorance.
As we come closer to Jesus the truth and light reveals sin. A greater understanding of Righteousness, makes unrighteousness easier to see.

Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Did Adam and Eve have grace?
Did Abraham need grace?
Everyone needs grace and grace didn't start at the cross. Jesus gave Israel grace..

All have been able to be saved by grace through faith from Adam till today.

Sin is defined as the transgression of the law.

Sin has not changed
Gods standard of sin has not changed. The same law that enlightened the people of their sin in moses' day is convicting hearts today.

The truth has not changed.

Do you believe the Bible?
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

when gentiles, who do not have the Law, do by nature what the Law requires, they are a Law to themselves.

we are to live out the moral intent of the Law, not keep the letter.

the letter kills, the Sprit gives life.

no Sabbath keeping required for gentile Christ followers.

no renewed Covenant, a New Covenant.

The Law was given to prove that we cannot keep it. The Law is not the problem, we are. If we could keep the Law, we would not need Jesus. Jesus came that we might have life. His life within us pleases God in every way, far above the low standard set by the law. If we allow Jesus to live in place of us, we will be obeying God, not just following a set of rules.

Remember that the law came through Moses. Grace and truth came through Jesus (John 1:17). The Law is a shadow (Hebrews 10:1). I prefer to live in the light, not the shadow.

The bible seems to contradict itself.
In some places it tells us the the is nailed to the cross, and has passed away. A shadow.
But in other places it is to be kept, to be established, and that they haven't pasted away.

When sin entered, laws were introduced, and were to help sinners understand the cost of sin but also the plan of salvation.
Laws which involved blood offerings. But they all pointed to Jesus and the plan of salvation.

Once Jesus came and fulfilled to plan those the laws that pointed to and fulfilled by Him were no longer needed.

Rom 10:3-4 KJV 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

This can apply to all the laws. Because all have sinned and we fail to perfectly obey, our righteousness is worth nothing. Christs righteousness is given by faith.

The moral law defines sin so it must still be in place now.
We are freed from the penalty by grace but that is not an excuse to continue in sin.

The 10 were given only to the Jews and no-one kept it ... we follow Jesu's commands
1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1 John 3:4

Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

YOU do not keep the law "thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart and with all thine strength" do not force upon others that which you and all your race signally have failed to do.

To revive the law is to revive sin.
