Time for some humble opinions..it's a glorious day
You can either answer in your humble opinion or your option of the flesh
The question, are these two verses the same
NiV
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
New Living Translation
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.

So then when where not led by the lord where led by are own authority.
Could we end up becoming a pope

Todays Food is based on Godly Sorrow.
The question is Godly sorrow something God uses with his permissive will.
Godly sorrow is also know has his living loving mercy and his living loving hope which is cited . And in both accounts there described as something, which he uses to examine a persons heart with.
For instance Gods word declares that Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation.
But how could his be for an unsaved person who will be in rebellion to God's words, rebellion meaning and internal conflict.
It can only be that God delivers his Godly sorrow to a persons heart, which must illuminate the heart and bring repentance.
But how is it that many won't have there ways illuminated in there hearts , was it because whilst his Godly sorrow was illuminating there heart, they never went into a condition called penitence ? A state of sorrow where one wants to change,
And could this be that Gods word was not permissive in there heart on this occasion.
To be clear folks the person who didn't become sorrowful for his ways Did not accept Gods permissive will.
Why would this be his permissive will you may ask, well in my view it's because God is putting his mercy in there hearts to allow them to be good in his ways. Which means God is allowing only for good things to happen in the heart with his permissive will
If they had of become sorrowful is it acceptable they would have gone into condition called penitence, in which the lord would then give repentance, which then leads to salvation.
So I wonder is the question worth seeing as something used in his promising permissive will
