As far as attractions, having lived in Orlando for over 20 years, and countless visits to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, I have had my fill. I just want peace and quiet and less traffic congestion. Tennessee is a beautiful state, no state income taxes, and provides for a more laid back lifestyle. My wife wants to start a garden and grow veggies. I plan on taking a lot of naps outside on a hammock.

Better put that other "e" in there if you're living close to it. They get REAL touchy about the spelling of Greeneville. Named after Nathaniel Greene, and they will NOT let you forget it. :p

Be sure to look up Margeurite Falls. Gentle, short hike that anybody could walk, with a beautiful waterfall at the end.

I love nature trails especially waterfalls. The proper spelling of Greeneville is duly noted. Would not want to start off on the wrong foot with the locals.

When my daughter was little she needed a lot of specialized medical procedures so we spent a lot of time in Vanderbilt Children Hospital in Nashville. Went to Opryland once also but it was kind of lame and I believe it is now closed.

My favorite tourist (haha) attraction in Gatlinburg was the Alpine slide. I don't remember it being super fast, but just plain fun. I tend to look for the things about a place that are more off the beaten path. I love quiet quite a lot.
On the contrary... I do like driving through downtown Chicago from time to time on the way to visit my mom, I know that's crazy, but there is just something about it that I really enjoy. Orlando was a pleasant city to navigate through as well. I do remember the strange toll exits though that caught me by surprise. Exact change only and toll by plate got me a few times. My EZ pass experience did me no good down there. I will not visit Florida again without a SunPass for SURE!

Monday was not too terribly crazy today. Very unusual, but I'll take it!

And it's always VL. GREENEvl. The ville falls off like a rock. Never veal. Never veel. Just vl. All of 'em. Nashvl. Clarksvl. Greenevl. I"m pretty sure with evolution the vl will disappear altogether.

That's the thing with TN. If somebody lives north or south of you you're practically neighbors. But east or west and they might as well live in a different country.

Wow, 4 hours to get across it lengthwise. Yeah, that's a significant in state road trip and I imagine the topography also would slow things down a bit too, driving wise.

I've gone down to Pickwick Dam and fished some. The waterway is huge, but my dad and I would fish for sauger there at the dam and down river almost all the way to alaBAMA. I can't say alaBAMA any other way since Forrest Gump...

We'd go down there in the coldest part of December and there was no colder place on the planet than below that dam waiting till noon before the sun rose over the top of the spillways.

Yep, it's the topography, lot's of ups and downs, twists and turns.
 
Nah. What you lose on the uphills you gain on the downhills. Wheeeee!

This happened years ago, but there's a big long bend in I 24 near Monteagle out of Chattanooga nearly at the top of the mountains and you can look down into this farmed valley way below. It had been storming pretty hard when but I looked down into the valley and saw a tornado whipping around like a freed firehose down below. Just as quick, it pulled back up in the clouds!

As if this road isn't treacherous enough without a tornado. That must have been pretty scary.

I have driven on that stretch of I 24 many times. Steep, curvy and scary.
 
This has the makings of a great bucket list.
I found this link while I was educating myself a bit on Tennessee geography. (Y'all have me quite curious.) None of these places are in Tennessee though, whyyyeee not?

Now that we're about ready for Friday again!!!
Maybe we need more than just a weekend off. Well, @tourist every day is Saturday in your world.

Wow! I had no idea a song was written about that stretch. There's a few runaway sand ramps along there. During the winter the water trickling out of the mountain rocks always freeze over and makes for a pretty sight.
