would be nice to be able Tick people as friends and once they accept to get a list of which friends online so we can chat on the app.

If you mean seeing a friends list through the forums to see friends who are signed into chat, I'm guessing that's unlikely.
The site is built using a preexisting platform. And, from what I understand, it is not very friendly to customization.
The chats are built on an entirely separate platform.
And, really, we don't even have a friends list in the forums because the software doesn't seem to support it.

I am talking about the Chat app not the forums. and they asked for suggestion, they didt give any limitations.
And i thought i was being nice by explaining to you how it all works so you could have a clearer understanding of the difficulty of your request. Apparently such an attempt at helping was wasted on someone incapable of understanding. I assure you i won't waste either of our times with such attempts in the future.
The apps are for access to the chat rooms. If you download it you can chat with anyone in the chat rooms. And the home page shows you which of your friends are online.

You mentioned many times in your initial response the FORUMS. so I obivosuly took it to mean you referring to these forums.
but again I am incapable of understanding thanks.

i have downloaded it. but it doesnt seem to show me anywhere i can see who is online on the chat app at anytime , the forums only seem to show me who is in the forums webpages.
al good i have learnt i not wanted around here ,

The friends list was a feature that I miss that was in the old format of this site. The follower feature is not quite the same as you can put anyone you want on it whether the member agrees or not. Of course, seeing how you are now a 'guest' it doesn't really matter anymore.
