I have what might be a dumb question. Since I'm new here and don't know the gender of most of ya'll, I'm wondering if any of you prefer one gender over the other for friendship. I'm obviously male by my name and I have only two very good male friends, one from the military and one from school days. I have never been able to confide in most males whereas I find that relatively easy with a woman. My late wife knew that and had no problems with it. In fact, several of her close friends became my friends. I would say I'm more introverted than anything and don't normally enjoy or have any interest in the so called male activities like hunting, fishing, and certain sports to name just a few. I've lived at my present location under two years and developed friendships with five women, some younger and some older than I. Having serious discussions with any of them about my wife passing, grief, etc is easy whereas I can't do that with a man. Just the way I was made.
I think for me , real life friendships r different to internet ones . On this site I don't even check to c what gender someone is , some r obvious by their avatars but most of the time , unless it's obvious by their posts , I don't know or care what gender someone is on here , I talk to everyone the same . I do assume that I'm talking to someone who knows their Bible . Sometimes Im right about that but occasionally I think that maybe I get that wrong 😜 .
In real life , I'm not too interested in having male friends , I have a few but only those that I've known for many many years . No new male friends for a very very long time . In real life I prefer female company , if I'm honest , I'm a bit suspicious if a man wants to b friends with me in the real world , also , hubby may not b too happy 😲 he doesn't mind on here though .

Very true. I have known only children who do not feel they are really missing out on siblings.

A lot of siblings really can't stand one another, like the first brothers in the bible, Cain and Abel. God Bless :)

Men do, in general, talk a LOT less than women.

"Hey guess who I saw yesterday... Jim! Ain't seen him in seventeen years."

"That's nice. How's he doing?"

"He's getting a divorce."

"Oh no! Why are they breaking up?"

"I dunno."

"You didn't ask him?"

"...No."

"Why not?"

"Because this is friends talking, not the Spanish Inquisition! Geez, woman!"

Whereas if the same conversation was started by a woman, it would have every detail about who said what, who took what the wrong way and what who thought about that, before and after the divorce.
