Gay music director files complaint over firing by Catholics
music director fired from his job at a northwest suburban Catholic church after he got engaged to his male partner filed a federal discrimination complaint Thursday.

Colin Collette worked at Holy Family Catholic Community in Inverness for 17 years before being terminated from the job in late July after he announced his engagement on Facebook. At the time, Rev. Terence Keehan told him that his same-sex relationship violated the tenets of the Roman Catholic Church, he said.

Will not be long and churches will have to meet secretly or face lawsuits over not allowing membership to those who walk contrary to the truth.....yea...maybe now is the time!
 
Not in this country. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the "ministerial exception" two years ago in what is considered one of the greatest landmark decisions it ever made by legal scholars.

"Imposing unwanted ministers and telling religious organizations who they can hire and fire violates both religion clauses of the First Amendment, the court said. It violates the free exercise of religion because a religious group has the group's right to shape its own faith and mission through its appointments. And it violates the establishment clause because it gives the state the power to determine which individuals will minister to the faithful."

Caesar Obama can change that with an executive order.
 
Negative. Caesar Obama has zero executive authority to rescind Supreme Court decisions which also has ruled that presidents have no authority to create laws. Furthermore, Caesar Obama will be mired in immigration lawsuits until he's termed out in 776 days from today's date.

Well I would hope it wouldn't get replaced with a Romney or Jeb Bush movement either. Now with the economy finally taking one step forward, if either one of these two get in office, we will end up taking 5 steps backwards.

Romney had good international polices, but his polices he had plan for the states sucked.

Then as for Jeb Bush, both previous Bushes put our economy in a bad state, do we really want another. At least under Bill Clinton the economy got better after Bush sr. about destroyed it, and it was still good when Bush jr. took office and then his lame duck policies ran it down hill again. Obama came in and it got worse, tell this past year.
Unemployment down, more jobs available, gas prices lower then they have ever been for 10 years now, and people are having more money to spend here lately....

Yes it is, but the problem is the fact that we focus to much on the fact that it has been at its worst for the past 36 years, yet do not focus on the fact that the number of people on unemployment has gone down as job availability has gone up. Very slowly, but it has. That and the raising of minimum wages and salaries by some states, so that people can afford to live better.

People should not have to work two or three jobs just to get by, and the problem isn't the raising of the minimum wage. The problem is letting these greedy, money hungry governmental and corporate idiots raise the cost of living.
Just like gas prices, do you know the cost of living determines how much you pay for gas ? I live in Missouri where the cost of living is cheaper then Kansas. The gas stations in Kansas therefore charge 9 to 10 cents higher per gallon of gas; if gas is $2.45 in Missouri then it is about $ 2.55 in Kansas.

It couldn't possibly be because the state gas tax in Kansas is seven cents a gallon more and Kansas' sales tax is 2% higher which would add approx five cents per gallon.

The cost of gasoline at the pump as it varies from one state to the next (or even from one area of a state to the next) is driven by the difference in taxes (state and local) and difference in transportation costs. The closer you are to a major refinery/loading depot the cheaper your gas is going to be.

Yes but the higher tax rate, and higher transportation costs fall under cost of living.
If you pay higher taxes your cost of living is higher, if your transportation costs are higher then that means your cost of living by supplied transportation is higher. Taxes, transportation, house values, are all apart of cost of living.
It is a proven fact the higher the cost of living in an area the higher the gas prices are, and I haven't been to the Kansas side in 3 years now. But the last few times I went over that way, and when I lived in Kansas from 2004-2009 I always waited tell I got across the state line to Missouri to get gas when visiting family members in Missouri because at that time it was 10 cents cheaper.
 
My bad, I thought you were insinuating that gas stations just charge more in high COL areas because they can.

No they charge what they do because the greedy oil companies get away with price gouging the American public, while they laugh with their smug faces at us when they hand out their millions to billions of dollar profits to their executives.
Then when Obama wanted to put a cap on how high the oil companies could charge, the republicans blocked it......
