Numbers

Ch. 4
vs.2 The Lord tells Moses to count the sons of Kohath, those that are from 30-50 years old. Instructions are given for the duties they are to perform.

"When the camp is set to go, then the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them; but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die: The Kohathites were forbidden to touch any of the tabernacle furniture. Only the priests could prepare the furnishings of the sanctuary; the sons of the Kohaths were commanded to carry them."

vs.22 The Lord tells Moses to count the sons of Gershon, from 30-50 years old. Instructions are given for the duties they are to perform.

"While the Kohathites were responsible for carrying the furnishings of the tabernacle, the Gershonites were responsible for carrying the tabernacle coverings."

vs.29 The Lord tells Moses to count the sons of Merari, from 30-50 years old. Instructions are given for the duties they are to perform.
"Those of the family of Merari were called to pack and transport the boards, pillars, and associated parts of the frame and structure of the tabernacle. This was difficult and important work. These boards and pillars and other pieces were usually covered with precious metals, and the estimated weight of the tabernacle was some 19,000 pounds." (note: Different sources give different estimates of the weight of the tabernacle. In any case, it was very heavy.)

Ch.5
The Lord commands that everyone who has leprosy or some other issues or is unclean must be put out of the camp.

vs.6-8 "The first step in restitution was for the guilty man or woman to admit and agree to their guilt, and to do so before God and the community. In addition to the confession of the sin, the guilty man also had to repay what he had defrauded."

vs.11-31 These verses speak of the spirit of jealousy and the instructions on testing as to whether adultery has been committed, as well as what happens as a result.

Ch. 6
Instructions are given for when a man or woman takes the vow of a Nazarite. They were not to drink alcohol or eat grapes, or consume anything derived from the grapevine. They were not to cut their hair. They were not to get near/touch a dead person even if it was a close relative. Instructions are given if he/she unintentionally comes in contact with a dead person. And finally, instructions are given for when the days of consecration are fulfilled.

Ch.7
Once Moses had the tabernacle fully set up, sanctified, anointed, and fully ready, the princes of Israel brought offerings to the Lord: six covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders and an ox for each one. These were given to the Levites, except for the sons of Kohath.
They shall offer their offering, each prince on his day, for the dedicating of the altar...
Nahshon the first day, Nethaneel the 2nd day, Eliab the 3rd day, Elizur the 4th day, Shelumiel the 5th day, Eliasaph the 6th day, Elishama the 7th day, Gamaliel the 8th day, Abidan the 9th day, Ahiezer the 10th day, Pagiel the 11th day, and Ahira the 12th day.

vs.89 Moses heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony. God speaking to Moses.

Ch.8
vs.1-4 Instructions for mounting the lamps.
vs.5-22 The Lord tells Moses to cleanse the Levites. Instructions are given.
vs.23-26 From the age of 25-49, the Levites shall perform service. At 50, they shall retire.

Ch.9
The people are reminded to keep the Passover.
Some men who were unclean due to contact with a dead person came to Moses. They asked, "We are defiled, but why are we kept from presenting an offering to the Lord at this appointed time?" Moses tells them to wait and He inquires of the Lord. The Lord says they may keep the Passover, according to all the ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it. But, if someone who is clean doesn't keep the Passover, that person shall be cut off from the people.
The stranger may keep the Passover.

The cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony. And in the evening it was like the appearance of fire over the tabernacle until morning. When the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the people journeyed. In the place where the cloud settled, there the people pitched their tents.Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud lingered over the tabernacle, the people remained camped. When it was taken up, they journeyed.

Ch.10
The Lord instructs Moses to make 2 silver trumpets. Instructions are given for blowing the trumpets: when both are blown the congregation shall assemble themselves. If only one is blown, the princes shall gather themselves. When an alarm is blown, the camps that are on the east side shall set out. When the alarm is blown the second time, the camps that are on the south side shall set out. The sons of Aaron shall blow the trumpets. When they go to war, they shall sound the alarm with the trumpets so that they will be remembered by the Lord and saved from their enemies.
At appointed times and at the beginnings of the month, the trumpets shall be blown over the burnt offerings and peace offerings as a reminder.

vs.12 The people travel from the wilderness of Sinai to the wilderness of Paran.

vs.29 Moses asks his FIL Hobab to journey with them. Sources say that the father of Hobab was Reuel, also known as Jethro. He goes with them. They depart, then 3 days journey before resting.

Ch.11
The people start complaining. Here we go again! This angered the Lord and the fire of the Lord burned those that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. The people cried to Moses, Moses prays to the Lord, the fire is quenched.
Right after this, what they do again? Complain! They were craving the food they had been eating in Egypt.
Moses was distraught and asks the Lord, why have you laid the burden of these people on me? He wanted the Lord to do away with him. It was no doubt depressing dealing with this situation.
The Lord has Moses gather 70 elders of Israel to share the burden with Moses. The Lord took the spirit that was on Moses and put it on the 70 elders and they prophesied.
The Lord caused quail to fill the camp. The people gathered much quail. While they were in the middle of eating the quail, the Lord sent a very great plague upon them.

Ch.12
Miriam and Aaron speak against Moses because of an Ethiopian woman he had married.
Moses was the most humble man on the face of the Earth.
The Lord tells Miriam and Aaron that when He communicates with a prophet, he does so in a dream or vision. But, when He talks to Moses, it is mouth to mouth. The Lord wants to know why they weren't afraid of speaking against Moses. The Lord is angry with them. Miriam is stricken with leprosy. Aaron asks Moses to spare her. Moses prays to God. The Lord tells Moses to shut her out of the camp for 7 days. The people did not journey those 7 days, when she was brought into the camp again they journeyed.

Ch.13
Spies are sent into Canaan. From each tribe a man was sent, a leader of each tribe. Moses instructed them and they left to search the land. They searched the land 40 days. They returned and told Moses all that they seen and found out about the land. But they warned that the people there are very strong and the cities are walled.
Caleb was like, "Pfft, we got the Lord on our side. Let's go take it!"
But, the spies were wouldn't have it. They said the people there are too strong. They are giants.

Meh, what's some giants if you have the Lord on your side? Caleb has the right idea. We should be like Caleb.

v23 Not sure the meaning

vs. 23 And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water:

"After reading the curse, and hearing the woman’s agreement, the priest would write the oath on a scroll – and scrape the dried ink into the bitter water."

NUMBERS CHAPTER 5 NOTES
v27 The woman who committed adulatory should be a curse among her people. Is there any consequences for men in the same situation at that time?

I've heard some say they assume there was, however I personally doubt it. However, God is a just God and we reap what we sow. So in that respect, we can trust in how God handles things.

NUMBERS CHAPTER 6 NOTES

v2 “...shall separate themselves vow a vow of a Nazarite...” - not clear the meaning. Nazarite meaning is an Israelite consecrated to the service of God, under vows to abstain from alcohol, let the hair grow, and avoid defilement by contact with corpses (not sure if this is accurate). What makes one become a Nazarite?

v3 “He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes or dried.” - Is this only during the a period of time or in general

v4 “All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.” - What is the days of his separation

v5 "All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in which he separateth himself unto the Lord, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.”

v7 Not clear on the meaning? Do not attend their funeral or do not touch their body if they are not of God?

v8 “All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.” - Not clear on the meaning. When does the separation begin/end?

v9-12 Cleansing of a defiled Nazarite

v13 Laws of the Nazarite v2-12

v14-21 The law of the Nazarite after he has finished his separation. What initiates his separation?

NUMBERS CHAPTER 7 NOTES
v9 “But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.” - not clear the meaning

According to the link ^above: The family of Kohath received no carts and no oxen; they were to carry the holy furniture of the tabernacle (Numbers 4:15) and were to carry all things on their shoulders – so, to remove any temptation to disobey, Moses gave them no carts.

NUMBERS CHAPTER 8 NOTES

v16-17 Not clear the meaning, this was stated before. Is God saying instead of claiming the firstborn of Israel He is now claiming the Levites instead for taking the children of Israel out of Egypt?

NUMBERS CHAPTER 10 NOTES

v25 “…which was the rewarded of all the camps throughout their hosts…” -Not clear the meaning

Something interesting I read:
Literally, "the collector," or "the gatherer, of all the camps." Dan may have been the collector of all the camps simply in the sense that his host closed in all the others from behind, and in pitching completed the full number.

v29 “And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father in law…” - Wasn’t it stated that Moses’ father in law was Reuel (Jethro)?

The father of Hobab was Reuel, also known as Jethro.

v31 “…and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.” - Not clear on the meaning

"A very significant expression, importing that he should be to them as a guide to the blind.
Hobab, having long lived in those parts, might be able to advise him; as concerning the conveniences of water for their cattle; concerning the safety or danger of the several parts, by reason of serpents, or wild beasts, or enemies, in the parts adjoining to them, that so they might guard themselves better against them. Or, this is to be understood of his directing them not so much in their way, as about great and difficult matters, wherein the counsel Moses had from God did not exclude the advice of men, as we see in Hobab’s father, Jethro."

NUMBERS CHAPTER 11 NOTES
v25 “…and took of the spirit that was among him…” - not clear of the meaning. Was “him” Moses? What was the spirit among “him”? The Lord came down in a cloud. The spirit that was among him was given unto the 70 elders. When the spirit rested upon the 70 elders, they prophesied, and did not cease. Very interesting verse!

"For this expanded leadership to do the job, they needed to have an outpouring of the Holy Spirit – and they needed to have the same spirit that was on Moses. They needed to have his vision, his heart, and his attitude."

v28 Joshua son of Nun, servant of Moses - is this the same Joshua that fought Amalek and waited for Moses on the mount of God? Joshua asks Moses to forbid Eldad and Medad

Yes. After Numbers, we'll read Deuteronomy and then Joshua. We'll have many adventures with Joshua up ahead.

Yes, she is their sister and a prophetess. I dunno about Miriam, but I always wondered why Aaron seems to escape punishment from this and the calf I should research this more.

One time, I read about the situation with the Ethiopian woman. I need to do a refresher, but I read that it was mostly likely that Zipporah died at some point (and no record was made of it) and Moses remarried. It's very doubtful that he had more than one wife at a time, since he was such an incredible man of God.

I just read these other possible reasons:
"Still others suggest that Jethro, Zipporah’s father, was actually from Ethiopia but had moved to Midian, making Zipporah an Ethiopian by birth but one who had lived in Midian."
and
"It may also be possible that Ethiopian here was a derogatory term used to criticize Zipporah because of her dark complexion."

Moses is a prophet. God is saying that he's different than other prophets. God communicates to them in dreams or visions, but Moses is unique in that God talks face to face with him.

Not in dark speeches, meaning plainly and certainly, not in parables. God spoke clearly to Moses. To other prophets received "dark speech" not evil dark, but not clear like Moses.

NUMBERS CHAPTER 12 NOTES

Off Biblical topic a bit, but my dad was the 7th son born on the 7th day of the month and the 7th day of the week. LoL. I always thought that was wild when I was growing up, especially when I'd read scriptures and see all the 7s and the significance of them.

Ch.21
vs.1-4 Priests should not make themselves unclean by touching a dead person. Rules are given for when they have to touch the body of a close dead relative.
vs.7 Priests are not to marry a whore or a divorced person.
vs.8 The daughter of a priest who plays a whore shall be burnt with fire.
vs.13 Priests should marry a virgin.
vs.14 In addition to the above, he shouldn't marry a widow either.
vs.15-20 These may not come to make offerings: blind, lame, flat nose, those with a broken foot or hand, hunchback, dwarf, has a blemish in an eye, has scurvy, had scabs, or has crushed testicles.
vs.21 Descendants of Aaron who have something wrong with them should not offer offerings to the Lord made by fire and they should not offer the bread to the Lord.

Various more rules pertaining to the priests.
An unclean priest shall not eat of the holy things.
Strangers may not eat of the holy things. If a priest's daughter marries a stranger, she may not eat of the holy things.
Continued instructions for the holy things.
Clean animals without flaws/blemishes must be offered.

The people are reminded to keep the Sabbath. The are reminded of the keeping of the feasts/holy days of the Lord, and reminded of the instructions on how to keep these days and on how offerings are to be made.

Ch. 24
Pure olive oil is to be used in the lamps of the tabernacle. Lamps are to burn continually.
Fine flour is to be used to make 12 cakes. They shall be set in 2 rows before the Lord. Frankincense should be put on each row. Every sabbath it is to be set it in order before the Lord continually. Aaron and his sons shall eat it in the holy place.
The son of an Israelite woman and Egyptian father blasphemed the name of the Lord and cursed. The Lord commanded that he be stoned. Anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord must be stoned.
Life for life. Beast for beast, fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, etc.

The Lord commands that every Sabbath year the people must give rest to the land for that year. In the Sabbath year, they were not allowed to reap or harvest. The Lord tells them that they will have plenty to eat in the Sabbath year, including the servants, strangers, and cattle.
vs.10 The 50th year shall be the year of jubilee. This is a year of freedom. People will get their freedom and property back. They were not to sow nor reap during jubilee. The Lord will command his blessing on the 6th year so that it brings forth enough for 3 years.
vs.35-55 Rules are given for slaves/slave owners.

Make no graven images/idols. Keep the Sabbath. Revere the Lord's holy place. Walk in the Lord's statues, keep His commandments. If the people do these things, the Lord will provide for them, multiply them, keep them safe, give them peace in the land, and their enemies will fall before them.
If they do not obey him, the Lord will appoint over them terror, disease, and illness, and destroy their eyes and cause their heart to sorrow. Seed will be sown in vain. They will be slain by their enemies and those that hate them shall rule over them. After this, if they still will not obey the Lord, He will punish them 7 times more.

This chapter deals "with persons and animals who have been vowed/dedicated to God. If the person making the vow wants to retain ownership of who or what is vowed, then they can convert the vow to money and pay that instead. The dedication of property to God begins with verse 14."

Some interesting things about the priests and Levites...
"It is important to realize that the priests were only one small family among the Levites. To be a priest and to be a Levite were not the same thing at all. Only those who were descendants of Aaron could be priests."
There were important aspects of the Levite’s service and they also had the important responsibility of teaching God’s word to the people.
"They had to be permanently on guard, ready to kill any unauthorized person approaching the tent of meeting, its furniture or the altar."
"The firstborn of Israel were redeemed with a silver shekel, but under the new covenant the believer is redeemed with something far more costly and precious: the blood of Jesus Christ, as a lamb without blemish." ♱

He = the priest. In this particular verse, he may not make himself unclean unless in the case of close relatives and in this case it's specifically talking about a virgin sister.

I agree with you. I do not agree with the Catholics. Old Testament priests and prophets married and had sexual relations with their wife. I think there are 3 prophets that we will come across in the Old Testament that did not marry, but it had nothing to do with any such reasons as pertain to the Catholics. God created marriage and copulation. In fact, we weren't given very many rules in the very beginning before sin entered world. We weren't supposed to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
And in Genesis 1:28, we were told to be fruitful and multiply.

Among the things God first created was marriage and copulation. So, it's interesting how some belief systems don't allow this. The Shakers was a group that practiced celibacy. They had that silly notion of putting female aspects into the Godhead. The founder, Ann Lee, is believed to be the embodiment of Christ and thus "fulfilling the female aspect of God."

If everyone just about died from the previous cult, current members of this cult likely do not know about the Shakers. Just came to mind, that would be a strategy of a cult to just think about the longevity of the leader and not its constituents; they don't care what happens after they are no longer around. I see, thank you! "and fallen in decay with thee" was making me a bit confused at first. Also, didn't know "that he may live with thee." was meant in the literal sense.
In the law of Moses, God had a special claim to the firstborn of Israel. This was true of both man and beast. This demonstrated the principle that God has a claim to the first and best of our blessings. Levi, the son of Israel and ancestor of the tribe of Israel, was not the firstborn among his brothers. Yet God chose the Levites as His own, and regarded them as a replacement for the firstborn of the nation as a whole.

Wow, what a note, thank you! This was powerful. I'm still not clear why "the difference" needed to made up if it was God's instruction. I'm not sure if this expresses what I'm trying to say. God said the first sons of Israel were His. Then He said the Levites will take their place and be His. Since they were both his commands, I'm not clear why a difference needed to be made up for. I hope this makes sense

I remember when I first decided to read the Bible all the way through. I did so alone. I had no idea of any place such as this and I'm a pretty solitary person anyway. Sometimes, I can be too solitary.
In today's world I don't blame anyone who is trying to keep their distance to stay on the righteous path. I also realized from my experience with the "god the mother" people how I need to study the word feverishly😂 How can I save anyone I love if I do not know His Word for myself? How can I know when a false pastor/prophet is teaching if I have not read His Word for myself? Reading the Bible from beginning to end is crucial to keep and maintain your faith in Jesus Christ in my humble opinion

Ch. 4
vs.2 The Lord tells Moses to count the sons of Kohath, those that are from 30-50 years old. Instructions are given for the duties they are to perform.
"When the camp is set to go, then the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them; but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die: The Kohathites were forbidden to touch any of the tabernacle furniture. Only the priests could prepare the furnishings of the sanctuary; the sons of the Kohaths were commanded to carry them."
vs22 The Lord tells Moses to count the sons of Gershon, from 30-50 years old. Instructions are given for the duties they are to perform.
"While the Kohathites were responsible for carrying the furnishings of the tabernacle, the Gershonites were responsible for carrying the tabernacle coverings."

vs.29 The Lord tells Moses to count the sons of Merari, from 30-50 years old. Instructions are given for the duties they are to perform.
"Those of the family of Merari were called to pack and transport the boards, pillars, and associated parts of the frame and structure of the tabernacle. This was difficult and important work. These boards and pillars and other pieces were usually covered with precious metals, and the estimated weight of the tabernacle was some 19,000 pounds." (note: Different sources give different estimates of the weight of the tabernacle. In any case, it was very heavy.)
19,000 pounds?! 2,000lbs = 1 ton. An adult elephant is approximately 7 ton. 19,000lbs is 9.5 tons - that is over the weight of adult elephant. I wonder how long it took to move and organize everything. Anything is possible with God😀
Ch.5
The Lord commands that everyone who has leprosy or some other issues or is unclean must be put out of the camp.
vs.6-8 "The first step in restitution was for the guilty man or woman to admit and agree to their guilt, and to do so before God and the community. In addition to the confession of the sin, the guilty man also had to repay what he had defrauded."
vs.11-31 These verses speak of the spirit of jealousy and the instructions on testing as to whether adultery has been committed, as well as what happens as a result.

Instructions are given for when a man or woman takes the vow of a Nazarite. They were not to drink alcohol or eat grapes, or consume anything derived from the grapevine. They were not to cut their hair. They were not to get near/touch a dead person even if it was a close relative. Instructions are given if he/she unintentionally comes in contact with a dead person. And finally, instructions are given for when the days of consecration are fulfilled.

Once Moses had the tabernacle fully set up, sanctified, anointed, and fully ready, the princes of Israel brought offerings to the Lord: six covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders and an ox for each one. These were given to the Levites, except for the sons of Kohath.

The people are reminded to keep the Passover.
Some men who were unclean due to contact with a dead person came to Moses. They asked, "We are defiled, but why are we kept from presenting an offering to the Lord at this appointed time?" Moses tells them to wait and He inquires of the Lord. The Lord says they may keep the Passover, according to all the ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it. But, if someone who is clean doesn't keep the Passover, that person shall be cut off from the people.
The stranger may keep the Passover.
The cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony. And in the evening it was like the appearance of fire over the tabernacle until morning. When the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the people journeyed. In the place where the cloud settled, there the people pitched their tents.Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud lingered over the tabernacle, the people remained camped. When it was taken up, they journeyed.

trumpets: when both are blown the congregation shall assemble themselves. If only one is blown, the princes shall gather themselves. When an alarm is blown, the camps that are on the east side shall set out. When the alarm is blown the second time, the camps that are on the south side shall set out. The sons of Aaron shall blow the trumpets. When they go to war, they shall sound the alarm with the trumpets so that they will be remembered by the Lord and saved from their enemies.
At appointed times and at the beginnings of the month, the trumpets shall be blown over the burnt offerings and peace offerings as a reminder.

vs.29 Moses asks his FIL Hobab to journey with them. Sources say that the father of Hobab was Reuel, also known as Jethro. He goes with them. They depart, then 3 days journey before resting.
I noted this too! I read Raguel the Midianite as Moses father in law. Raguel is also close in spelling to Reuel, not quite😅 This verse I had a question about in my notes
Ch.11
The people start complaining. Here we go again! This angered the Lord and the fire of the Lord burned those that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. The people cried to Moses, Moses prays to the Lord, the fire is quenched.
Right after this, what they do again? Complain! They were craving the food they had been eating in Egypt.
Moses was distraught and asks the Lord, why have you laid the burden of these people on me? He wanted the Lord to do away with him. It was no doubt depressing dealing with this situation.
The Lord has Moses gather 70 elders of Israel to share the burden with Moses. The Lord took the spirit that was on Moses and put it on the 70 elders and they prophesied.
The Lord caused quail to fill the camp. The people gathered much quail. While they were in the middle of eating the quail, the Lord sent a very great plague upon them.

Miriam and Aaron speak against Moses because of an Ethiopian woman he had married.
Interesting, I wonder why it wasn't discussed more who she was
Moses was the most humble man on the face of the Earth.
The Lord tells Miriam and Aaron that when He communicates with a prophet, he does so in a dream or vision. But, when He talks to Moses, it is mouth to mouth. The Lord wants to know why they weren't afraid of speaking against Moses. The Lord is angry with them. Miriam is stricken with leprosy. Aaron asks Moses to spare her. Moses prays to God. The Lord tells Moses to shut her out of the camp for 7 days. The people did not journey those 7 days, when she was brought into the camp again they journeyed.
Ch.13
Spies are sent into Canaan. From each tribe a man was sent, a leader of each tribe. Moses instructed them and they left to search the land. They searched the land 40 days.
40 seems to be a significant number in the Bible along with 7
They returned and told Moses all that they seen and found out about the land. But they warned that the people there are very strong and the cities are walled.
I'm surprised the US didn't have a wall similar to the Great wall of China created years ago

Apologies, still not clear on the meaning. Why did the priest blot out what he had written?
I've heard some say they assume there was, however I personally doubt it. However, God is a just God and we reap what we sow. So in that respect, we can trust in how God handles things.

Or, this is to be understood of his directing them not so much in their way, as about great and difficult matters, wherein the counsel Moses had from God did not exclude the advice of men, as we see in Hobab’s father, Jethro."

Yes, she is their sister and a prophetess. I dunno about Miriam, but I always wondered why Aaron seems to escape punishment from this and the calf I should research this more.
I was wondering about the calf thing too, why I asked before when was Aaron consecrated. You mentioned after (which I still have to review for myself). If the sanctifying of Aaron was after the calf incident, that would explain why it was forgiven without punishment. Aaron was also under pressure by the children of Israel when he made the decision to make the golden calf. If it were Moses he would have went to God, but Aaron decided to do that instead before he was consecrated (according to what you mentioned that he was consecrated afterwards).
One time, I read about the situation with the Ethiopian woman. I need to do a refresher, but I read that it was mostly likely that Zipporah died at some point (and no record was made of it) and Moses remarried. It's very doubtful that he had more than one wife at a time, since he was such an incredible man of God.
I just read these other possible reasons:
"Still others suggest that Jethro, Zipporah’s father, was actually from Ethiopia but had moved to Midian, making Zipporah an Ethiopian by birth but one who had lived in Midian."
and
"It may also be possible that Ethiopian here was a derogatory term used to criticize Zipporah because of her dark complexion."
Before I read your note on Zipporah, I was thinking she may have been Ethiopian. I think the later reasons concerning where she was from makes sense. We have seen with the great fathers Isaac and Jacob (Israel) where the wives are from are a big concern. Thanks for this note😀

Not in dark speeches, meaning plainly and certainly, not in parables. God spoke clearly to Moses. To other prophets received "dark speech" not evil dark, but not clear like Moses.
