v1 God reminds no idols or images. Graven (archaic) meaning is engrave (an inscription or image) on a surface

v2 God reminds to keep His sabbaths and reverence His sanctuary. Sabbath is plural again

v3-4 God will bless those who walk in his statutes and keeps his commandments

v16 “I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.” - What God will do if you despise His statutes and do not follow His commands. Ague meaning is malaria or some other illness involving fever and shivering

v17 “And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.”- continuation of what God would do if you don’t follow his statutes and commands

v18 Seven is used again

v21 Seven is used again. God mentions reform

v24 Seven used again

v29 Cannibalism

v30 God will be very angry if His people do not follow His statutes and commands

v33 God will scatter the children of Israel among the heathens if they do not follow his statutes and commands

v1 God is speaking to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai. 1st day, 2nd month (Iyar -April to May), in the 2nd year out of Egypt

v2 God told Moses to sum all the congregation of Israel

v3 God said for Moses and Aaron to number by name everyone that was 20 years old and above that were able to go to war for Israel

v5-15 Tribes of Israel and the head of the house

v18 Pedigrees were claimed after their fathers. Pedigree meaning is the recorded ancestry, especially upper-class ancestry, of a person or family; a genealogical table

Back then, human sacrifices were made to Molech (a Canaanite god). I watched a video about him in the past. The historian or presenter of the video said that the idol had fire within it. It held its arms out and when a baby was placed onto the arms of the idol, the idol would draw its arms back and the baby would go into it and thus into the fire. Of course, it was no doubt operated by someone (the arms and such). We will continue to read about human sacrifices as we go along. God is disgusted with such actions, of course. And we'll learn the result of such actions and God's disgust as we go along.

Leviticus
Ch.21
vs.1-4 Priests should not make themselves unclean by touching a dead person. Rules are given for when they have to touch the body of a close dead relative.
vs.7 Priests are not to marry a whore or a divorced person.
vs.8 The daughter of a priest who plays a whore shall be burnt with fire.
vs.13 Priests should marry a virgin.
vs.14 In addition to the above, he shouldn't marry a widow either.
vs.15-20 These may not come to make offerings: blind, lame, flat nose, those with a broken foot or hand, hunchback, dwarf, has a blemish in an eye, has scurvy, had scabs, or has crushed testicles.
vs.21 Descendants of Aaron who have something wrong with them should not offer offerings to the Lord made by fire and they should not offer the bread to the Lord.

Ch. 22
Various more rules pertaining to the priests.
An unclean priest shall not eat of the holy things.
Strangers may not eat of the holy things. If a priest's daughter marries a stranger, she may not eat of the holy things.
Continued instructions for the holy things.
Clean animals without flaws/blemishes must be offered.

Ch. 23

The people are reminded to keep the Sabbath. The are reminded of the keeping of the feasts/holy days of the Lord, and reminded of the instructions on how to keep these days and on how offerings are to be made.

Ch. 24
Pure olive oil is to be used in the lamps of the tabernacle. Lamps are to burn continually.
Fine flour is to be used to make 12 cakes. They shall be set in 2 rows before the Lord. Frankincense should be put on each row. Every sabbath it is to be set it in order before the Lord continually. Aaron and his sons shall eat it in the holy place.

The son of an Israelite woman and Egyptian father blasphemed the name of the Lord and cursed. The Lord commanded that he be stoned. Anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord must be stoned.

Life for life. Beast for beast, fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, etc.

Ch. 25
The Lord commands that every Sabbath year the people must give rest to the land for that year. In the Sabbath year, they were not allowed to reap or harvest. The Lord tells them that they will have plenty to eat in the Sabbath year, including the servants, strangers, and cattle.
vs.10 The 50th year shall be the year of jubilee. This is a year of freedom. People will get their freedom and property back. They were not to sow nor reap during jubilee. The Lord will command his blessing on the 6th year so that it brings forth enough for 3 years.

vs.35-55 Rules are given for slaves/slave owners.

Ch.26
Make no graven images/idols. Keep the Sabbath. Revere the Lord's holy place. Walk in the Lord's statues, keep His commandments. If the people do these things, the Lord will provide for them, multiply them, keep them safe, give them peace in the land, and their enemies will fall before them.
If they do not obey him, the Lord will appoint over them terror, disease, and illness, and destroy their eyes and cause their heart to sorrow. Seed will be sown in vain. They will be slain by their enemies and those that hate them shall rule over them. After this, if they still will not obey the Lord, He will punish them 7 times more.

Much more on this ahead, they do not obey God! And you will see what He talks about in the second half of this chapter does take place! Much sadness to read about.

Ch.27
This chapter deals "with persons and animals who have been vowed/dedicated to God. If the person making the vow wants to retain ownership of who or what is vowed, then they can convert the vow to money and pay that instead. The dedication of property to God begins with verse 14."

Some interesting things about the priests and Levites...
"It is important to realize that the priests were only one small family among the Levites. To be a priest and to be a Levite were not the same thing at all. Only those who were descendants of Aaron could be priests."
There were important aspects of the Levite’s service and they also had the important responsibility of teaching God’s word to the people.
"They had to be permanently on guard, ready to kill any unauthorized person approaching the tent of meeting, its furniture or the altar."
"The firstborn of Israel were redeemed with a silver shekel, but under the new covenant the believer is redeemed with something far more costly and precious: the blood of Jesus Christ, as a lamb without blemish." ♱

I mention the Shakers because look what happened to them. They began sometime in the 1700s, if my memory serves, and didn't believe in copulating and now they are only 2 members

Nazarite meaning is an Israelite consecrated to the service of God, under vows to abstain from alcohol, let the hair grow, and avoid defilement by contact with corpses (not sure if this is accurate). What makes one become a Nazarite?

v3 “He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes or dried.” - Is this only during the a period of time or in general

v4 “All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.” - What is the days of his separation
