Wow... just when I thought I knew all the ways the O-P's botch the scriptures, here comes Wansvic to prove me wrong.
John the Baptist asked the Pharisees and Sadducees who warned them to flee from the wrath to come. This comment alone reveals his message of the coming Messiah and baptism of repentance for the remission of sin plays a part in protection against God's wrath.
John warned the Jews not to think they were righteous because they were descendants of Abraham. He explains that God can raise up spiritual children for Abraham from the stones of the Jordan River. Again, pointing to bringing up stones out of the water of the river. Clearly one's natural lineage does not guarantee admission into the Kingdom of Heaven. No one is exempt from the need to produce "fruits of repentance" to avoid divine judgment. (Luke 3:7-9, Matthew 3:7-9)
The need for repentance as well as submitting to water baptism in the name of Jesus for remission of sin are essential elements of the NT rebirth. The Apostle Peter expressed this at Pentecost. (Acts 2:36-42) And the message was later carried to individuals of the remaining groups of humanity. (Acts 8:12-18, 10:43-48) As such, indicating no one is exempt from the need to be born again as spiritual children of God in order to enter His kingdom. (John 3:3-5)
"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren,
what shall we do?
Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and
be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and
ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." Acts 2:36-42
