Been sincerely praying and waiting for my Godly man since I broke up with my ex-bf. Sometimes it feels like Im waiting for nothing. I badly needed encouragement and prayers from someone here. ThAnks for your help guys!

As a single Christian it can be difficult sometimes waiting on our future partner. But filling the time with getting to know our God and studying His word makes it easier and comforting to know that he's building us up to where he wants us to be before entering a relationship.

I understand your situation, and I'm in the same boat. I will pray for you as I pray for the same thing, keep doing the Fathers will and pray that you will have a life partner..If it doesn't happen just remember you always got Him :)

thanks for that, atleast i know somebody who feels the same way. And yeah it really help knowing you have Him but then God created man and woman to be together right. ^.^

But if we consider Pauls words, he discouraged marriage unless your sexual desires can't be controlled. Paul did not see marriage as something we are expected to do. I think its a product of modern Christianity that puts so much emphasis on the idea of a Christian needing to be married.
Not that marriage is bad, but so many Christians put so much focus and time in their lives on the fact that they are not married, and seeking out a mate, it seems to distract them from doing more with their lives and their walks.

I'd take Paul's words with a grain of salt because God himself said it isn't good for man to be alone. It shouldn't be made an idol of but a Godly marriage is a very good thing. I think people try to over spiritualise singleness sometimes to feel good about themselves, but really the key is to pursue God with all your heart, soul, and mind. I've never had a girlfriend or even a date and sometimes it's rough but most of the time I've learned to be content with where God has me - for now.

I think it works both ways, with both marriage and singleness. I think the idea would be to first spiritualize your life as it is, seek God above anything else and just follow His leading.
@dimples: If you really want to get married tell God about it and think of ways you could get to meet a Christian man you could marry. Just sitting around and waiting may not be the best idea.

There is always a proper time for everything...the waiting is the test though...

I side with Tintin here. Paul was writing to the church with the conviction that the world would be ending in his lifetime and felt that its best not to concern theirselves with temporary things, since there is no marriage in Heaven. Rather it is best to focus on God wholeheartedly in the End Days since marriage will be distracting. However, if the desire is too much, to go ahead with the marriage. The question that comes to mind is: does this apply to our present circumstance? And i think that the answer to that is both yes and no; it comes down to a personal conviction.

Ugly, not everyone is like Paul. :P

I'm on the same boat, dimples, and I know how hard it is to just float alone and waiting for God-given partner to board the boat with you. God had a hard time teaching me that He wanted me to focus on Him more than I focus on finding "the guy." I sure was a rebellious student on this one subject that He really needed to slap me really hard before I finally could start digesting the lesson. I really hope you don't need to go that far a warning...

Single, Married or in between, I learn that God wanted us to put Him first. I do pray for a nice Godly marriage one day, but I know He won't let me go that way unless He knows I'm prepared for it, and He knows that once He gives me this I won't dethrone Him from my top spot. So, by faith I'm telling myself that my guy is on his way, and as such I need to prepare myself well, under His guidance.

In my low tides, I often reciting this below. Hope it can be of any help for you too :)

"...your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Mat 6:32-34 NIV)

yes, and paul says it is better to remain single, but it is not a sin to want marriage or anything like that :)

For those of us who clearly understand that singleness is not our calling, singleness is a test of faithfulness. Use the time that you are single to understand that being faithful to God and His callings is much like being faithful to a spouse. Learn well, as "until death do we part" can be a very, very long time. :)

Please don't think i'm trying to be a know it all or discouragement or offencive in any kind of way. God did not have a hard time at nothing, we are the ones that have a hard time, I think it just may have been worded wrong. :)

How long ago did the "break up" with your ex boyfriend happen? If it wasn't too long ago, then I do think it would be wisest for you gaining more focuse on Christ Jesus than quickly looking for a new boyfriend. I can understand that you dislike the feeling of being lonely, but know that Jesus can fill up that lonely feeling in you as well.

Also; When you are being single, it is often easier spending a lot more time with God than once you have got married.

Hi HeirofChrist, you're right. I didn't put it in the right way. Of course it wasn't God having a hard time, it was me. I was the one inviting for the rough learning to myself because of my stubbornness. Thanks for your feedback :)

Also,Paul said that as well for the time in context because back then,if you were a believer/follower of the teachings of Jesus, chances are you were not going to have an easy life & might even die for what you believed in,therefore leaving behind possibly a wife & children alone to have to fend for themselves. Being single was simply easier & you could focus 100% on Christ. So not even from a "burning with lust" standpoint,it was also just more practical to be single.

Hi Dimples!

God sometimes answers my prayers very soon and sometimes He makes me WAIT and I know waiting can be hard.

But I believe when He makes us wait ; He is working on us, He is building us and might be, He is just preparing us for the challenges we might have to face, when once we have got what He has planned for us.

David was anointed to be a king when he was very young , but he got his crown when he was 30.God made him Wait.

God asked Moses to wait for Him

Exodus 24:12
And the Lord said to Moses,"Come up to me on the mountain and wait there, that I may give you the tablets of stone,....

A prayer is like a seed we sow and we just need to believe that God will grant it .

I believe God grants prayers ,but He has his own appointed times.

God is a loving Father and He Gives good gifts to His Children,

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him.

Hope these words might help you to continue in your waiting period.

I'm copying and pasting this response from another thread, it seems like it may work for here, too. :) :

For me, I guess I am patiently waiting (well, sometimes not so patient) but at the same time, I know I am more than my singleness. And when I have a boyfriend/fiance/husband, I will be more than a girlfriend/fiance/wife. I don't want to spend my time being single simply as a form of "waiting to not be single". I want to embrace all that God has for me during this time, all that He has for me to learn, and grow from. I still desire to be a wife someday, but I don't want to just be waiting around until it happens.

That probably sounded less encouraging than it was supposed to be...I guess my point is to know that you are precious in His sight no matter what, and we shouldn't be anxious about it. :)
