Here is some interesting bit's and pieces of interest........

Catholic Church confessions on changing God’s 4th commandment from Saturday to Sunday within Christianity………….

Revelations 17
4, And the woman (Church) was arrayed in purple and scarlet color,
and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations.....

Revelations 17
4, And the woman (Church)
was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations......

2 Thessalonians 2
3,
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4, Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

The next verses speak specifically about God in Heaven…..

Revelation 20
11,
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

Again……..

Isaiah 37
16
, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwells between the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

Now please NOTE; who is sitting on the GREAT WHITE THRONE and SITTING BETWEEN TWO CHERIBIM’S………

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten ( Exodus 20:8-11 ) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness w e are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

There is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

May God bless you as you seek Him through His Word.
But the Roman Catholic church is claiming an authority that is false, for their own purposes. It is propaganda.

As usual with people like you you do not distinguish between the Catholic (universal) church of the early days, which was the general name for ALL orthodox Cristian churches and the Roman Catholic church of later days.

Justin Martyr of Antioch (NOT Roman), Epistle of Barnabas, and many others mention Sunday observance in early 2nd century AD long before there was a roman catholic church,

LOL you do repeat yourself

Hello valiant,

Thanks for sharing I am not sure of the point you are trying to make however? I am sure the disciples met together on most days of the week for various reasons but as mentioned earlier there is there is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

Have you ever heard about the Division In the Church and what
church historians say, and what they call the lost century in history?

-
as Edward Gibbon wrote in
The History of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire

"The scanty materials of ecclesiastical history seldom enable us
to dispel the cloud that hangs over the first age of the church .

-
Jesse Lyman Hurlbert in
The story of the christian church

the age just after the book of acts he calls "..the age of shadows.."
"of all the periods in the churches history, it is the one about which we know
the least about. For fifty years after St. Paul's life a curtain hangs over the church,
through which we strive vainly to look;

-
William McLaughlin in
The Course of Christian History

"But Christianity itself had been in the process of transformation as it progressed
and at the close of the period was in many respects quite different from the apostolic
Christianity."

-
Samuel G. Green in
A handbook of church History

"The thirty years which followed the close of the New Testement canon and the
destruction of Jerusalem, are in truth the most obscure in the history of the church.
When we emerge in the second century, we are to a great extent in a changed world."

-
William fitzgerald in
lectures on ecclesiastical History

"over this period of transition, which immediatly succeeds upon
the era properly called apostolic, great obscurity hangs."

-
Philip Schaff in
History of the Christian Church

"The remaining thirty years of the first century are involved in mysterious darkness,
illuminated only by the writings of John. This is a period of church history about which
we know least and would like to know most."

"Simon Magus unquestionably adulterated Christianity with pagon ideas and practices
and gave himself out for an emanation of God."

"This heresy in the second century spread over the whole church, east and west,
in the various schools of agnosticism."

-
Satan was doing everything he could to destroy the Work of God, and in
little more than two decades, God’s people were turning to another gospel.
This was the time of the Roman Empire , and in around 117 AD, at its greatest extent.
streched from Britian clear to modern day Turkey, and it ruled with the rod of iron.

-

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you
into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years
I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

I could fill a page of bible verses about the church being taken over from within.

beez dont get fooled by how nice these guys are. this is what u gotta look out for. just like the jehovahs falsewitnesses and other cults they are really nice to make sure u join their group. its a false gospel of keep the sabbath or ur living in wilfull sin and wont be saved. false gospel, false gospel. false gospel. dont believe it. run take it down. stop at once.

Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Well Snoozy, that is a bit disappointing to hear that coming from you.

Anyhow it is an interesting topic as I believe there is "another Gospel" being preached by mainstream Christianity that is not according to God's Word. What is the "other Gospel"?

It is a Gospel that tries to separate forgiveness of sin from God's Law....................

Why is God's Law (10 commandments) important and connected to the true Gospel.............?

Because it is only through the Law of God (10 commandments) that any of us have a knowledge of what sin is ( 1John 3:4; Rom 3:20; 24 ). If we do away with God's Law we have no knowledge of sin. If we have no knowledge of sin we have no need of a savior. If we have no need of a savior we have no salvation. If we have no salvation we are lost. "For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law." ( Rom 2:12 ).

God's Law shows us that we are sinners in need of a savior. God's Law was given to us that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God ( Rom 3:19 ). It shows us that we are sinners and cannot save ourselves from this disease that we have within us so that we can by Faith lay hold of the promises of God's Words s o that Jesus can save us from our sins.

Jesus did not come to save the righteous (those that think they do not need saving) but sinners (those that know their need of saving) ( Matt 9:12-13; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:32 ) God's Law has always been part of the true Gospel of Christ. The counterfeit Gospel does not have it. God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Ol d and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ. It will be the basis of the judgement where we will all be accountable to God.

The Law of God is the only way of showing us who we truly are, sinners in need of a Saviour and in this condition we can see for the first time Him who loved us and washed us in His own blood and by faith only lay hold of the promises of God’s Word. ( 2Pet 1:4 ) It is here as we believe God that he changes us from living a life of breaking God's Law to a life of walking with him.

It is through the operation of God through Love because he first loved us that we follow Jesus not for salvation but because of love. Love is the fulfilling of God's Law in us who walk not after the flesh (carnal sinful mind) but after the spirit and why Jesus says to his followers, "If you love me keep the commandments" ( John 14:15 ).

People cannot see that this is the operation of God in the believer and assume God's people believe they are saved by their works, when in fact Jesus is saving us from our sins to walk in newness of life in fulfillment of His new Covenant promise ( Heb 8:10-12 )...... Gods Sheep hear His Voice salvation is from sin and sin is the transgression of God's Law ( 1John 3:4 ) whosoever is living in sin has neither seen him nor known him (1John 3:6) ............

If you disagree with the above by all means prove your case from the Word of God. If you cannot you should BELIEVE God's Word because ONLY God's Word is true (Romans 3:4)

May God bless you as you seek Him through His Word.

Jesus taught the 10 commandments…..

1. Jesus kept God’s Law (10 commandments) and said the Law and the prophets would not pass away (Matt 5:17-18)
2. Jesus taught others to follow the 10 commandments (Mark 10:17-21)
3. Jesus taught that Love is the fulfilling (doing) of God’s Law (10 commandments Matt 22:36-40)
4. If we break God’s Law by following man-made traditions we are not following God (Matt 15:3-9)
5. Jesus says if we commit sin we are a servant of sin and he has come to free us from sin (John 8:32-36)
6. Jesus taught if you love God you will keep God’s Law and abide in His Love (John 14:15; 15:10

8. No one can obey God’s Law producing the fruit of obedience of ourselves and unless we abide in Jesus we can do nothing (John 15:4-10)

Paul affirms the Ten Commandments……

2. Paul tells gentiles that "what matters is KEEPING the Commandments of GOD" 1 Cor 7:19
3. Paul tells gentiles "it is not the HEARERS of the Law that are just before God but the DOERS of the Law will be justified... on the day when according to my GOSPEL God will judge all mankind" Rom 2:13-16

9. God's Law (10 commandments) are holy, just and good (Rom 7:12)
10. God's Law gives us a knowledge of what sin is (Rom 3:20; 7:7)
11. The penalty of breaking God's Law without Jesus is death (Rom 6:23)
12. If we break God's Law we dishonor God (Rom 2:23)
13. If we sin we are "under the Law" and guilty before God (Rom 3:19)
14. We are saved by faith but our faith establishes the Law in us (Rom 3:31)
15. If we are saved by grace we should not break God's Law (Rom 6:1-7)
16. We should not break God's Law if we are under grace (Rom 6:15)
17. We are to serve the Law of God through the mind because that is where sin starts (Rom 6:17; 7:25; 8:4; 12:2)
18. It is God's Law that brings us to Jesus (Gal 3:24)
19. God's salvation frees us from sin so we can be obedient to God's Law and live a life of holiness (Rom 6:22)
20. We will be judged by God's Law and only those that are obedient will be justified because of their faith (Rom 2:4-13)
21. God's Law can only be obeyed through love and a changed heart which comes by faith in God's Word (Rom 2:21-29; 13:9-10; Heb 8:9-10)
22. If we break God's Law and are in unrepentant sin we will be lost and will received God's judgements (Heb 10:26-27)

John affirms the 10 commandments……

1. John says it is only by keeping God’s 10 commandments that we know that we know God (1 John 2:3)
2. If someone says that they know God and do not keep God’s 10 commandments they are lying and not telling the truth (1 John 2:4)
3. We should purify ourselves as Jesus is pure (1 John 3:3)
4. Sin is the breaking of God’s 10 commandments (1 John 3:4)
5. Whoever is abiding in Christ does not commit sin (1 John 3:6; John 15:4-10)
6. If you are in unrepentant sin you have not seen Jesus or know him (1 John 3:6)
7. John warns us that only those that are obedience to God’s Law are his true followers (1 John 3:7)
8. If someone is committing unrepentant sin they are following the devil and not God (1 John 3:7)
9. If you are born of God and abiding in him you will not commit sin (1 John 3:9; 1 John 3:6; John 15:4-10
10. It is the keeping of God’s commandments that is the difference between those that are following God and those that are not following God (1 John 3:10; 1 John 5:3)

12. God’s true believers in the end days will keep all of God’s commandments through faith in Jesus (Rev 14:12; 22:14)

5. Cease from sin and do not live in the flesh (1 Pet 4:1-3)
6. Judgement will begin at the house of God and sinners (those breaking God’s 10 commandments) will not be saved.
7. God has given us his precious promises and as we believe them God will grant us his divine power to live a life of Godliness (obedience to God’s Law; 2 Pet 1:2-4)
8. The Un-Godly (disobedient to God’s Law) will be like Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Pet 2:6)
9. If any turn away from God’s Law and are in unrepentant sin breaking any of God’10 commandments they will be lost (2 Pet 2:20-22)
10.
God is not willing that any should perish but that everyone should come to repentance and turn away from sin to follow God’s 10 commandments because those that do not will receive the judgements of God (2 Pet 3:5-14)

Yep seems like Jesus, James, Peter, Paul and John all agree God's 10 commandments are important as the standard of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS of the Old and New Covenant and the Judgement to come.

GOD’S LAW (10 commandments) ARE FOREVER

The Law of God (10 commandments) is the work of God ( Exodus 32:16 ) whatsoever God does is forever nothing can be added to it or taken a way (Ecclesiastes 3:14). God's Law is perfect converting the soul (Psalms 19:7).

God's Law is the very foundation of the Old and New Covenants and the Judgement to come (Exodus 20:1:17, Hebrews 8:10-12; Exodus 36:26-27; Jeremiah 31:33-34; Hebrews 10:26-28; Romans 1:29-32;2:-9;2 Corinthians 5:10; Hebrews 9:27; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31).

God's Law was spoken by God himself to His people ( Exodus 20:1-22 ). God’s 10 commandments are the spoken word of God ( Exodus 20:1-22 ). God’s Word does not pass away ( Matthew 25:35 ).

Gods Law is sti ll in force today ( Psalms 111:7-8, Revelations 12:17, 14:12, 22:14, 1 John 3:5-8, 1 John 2:3-4; James 2:8-12 etc).

God’s Law re veals sin to us and the penalty of sin so we can see ourselves as we truly are sinners in need of a Saviour (Romans 6:23; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4 ).

It is the great standard of the judgement (Hebrews 10:26-28; Romans 1:29-32; Romans 2:2-13; 2 Corinthians 5 :10; Hebrews 9:27; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31 ).

God's Law is our teacher revealing sin and brings us to Christ at the foot of the cross that we might be s aved by faith by Him who loves us and washed us in His own blood as we have faith ( Galatians 3:24; Revelations 1:5 ).

God writes His Law in our hearts so that we become like him and we follow hi m because we love him ( Hebrews 8:10-12 ) LOVE is the fulfilling (doing) of God's Law (Romans 13:10).

This is why Jesus says to those that love him If you love me keep my commandments (John 14:15).

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten ( Exodus 20:8-11 ) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). Gods Rest.

Hebrews 4:9-11
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Isn't it really weird that sabbath means rest? Its even more weird that the Lord Jesus Christ offers Rest.

Stranger yet is that Paul confirms what the Lord says and says that the feasts and ordinances and sabbath days (saturday observance) are a mere shadow of what is in the body of Christ.

But people with NO understanding want to make the Rest that the Lord Jesus Christ gives NO REST. They want to make the words that Paul says into a lie as well.

I don't understand. Are they just tares? Are they just not yet come to Christ? Since they don't know what they are talking about why do they pretend?

None have yet entered into the rest the Messiah offers, any that claim to have made their own definition of what rest is:

Gods Rest.
Hebrews 4:9-11
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Hello Grandpa,
Hebrews Chapters 3 and 4 are talking about God's Sabbath day commandment (Exodus 20:8-11) and how the God's people in the wilderness did not enter into God's Sabbath day rest because of their unbelief and disobedience.

Let's look at the scriptures.........

HEBREWS 4

1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limited a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Key Scripture points...............

Fear that the promise being left us any of us should fall short of entering God’s rest (v1)

The Gospel was preached to the people in the Wilderness as well as us. The Word did not profit those in the wilderness because of their unbelief (v2)

For we which have believed do enter into His Rest. The people in the wilderness that did not believe God did not enter into

His Rest even though works were finished from the foundation of the world (v3)

Speaking of the 7th Day Sabbath and the last day of the creation week (Gen 2:1-3) (v4)

God’s rest (Gen 2:1-3), those that believe enter into God’s 7th Day Sabbath rest those that do not believe do not enter into God’s 7th Day Sabbath rest (v5-6)

Harden not your heart in unbelief (v7-8)

There is a rest for the people of God (v9)

Those that enter into God’s rest (Gen 2:1-3) cease from works as God did v10

We should labour to enter into God’s rest (Gen 2:1-3) faith in God’s Word (rest through believing God) v11
The Word of God is powerful. v12

Please go back and look at the Greek meaning of the word "rest" used in Heb 4:9 its meaning is resting through keeping of a Sabbath or Sabbath observance. (I have provided Greek links below)

Hebrews 4:9 (NAS version)
“There remaineth therefore a Sabbath rest to the people of God.”

The Greek word for rest in v9 literally means “Sabbath keeping” or “Sabbath observance.” (links below)

Strong's Concordance 4520

sabbatismos: a sabbath rest; Original Word: σαββατισμός, οῦ, ὁ Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: sabbatismos; Phonetic Spelling: (sab-bat-is-mos') Short Definition: a Sabbath rest
Definition: a keeping of the Sabbath, a Sabbath rest
.

Strong's Greek 4520
σαββατισμὸς — 1 Occ. Hebrews 4:9N-NMS GRK: ἄρα ἀπολείπεται σαββατισμὸς τῷ λαῷ
NAS: there remains a Sabbath rest for the people KJV: therefore a rest to the people INT: Then remains a sabbath rest to the people

Thayer's Greek Lexicon
STRONGS NT 4520: σαββατισμός
σαββατισμός, σαββατισμου, ὁ (σαββατίζω to keep the sabbath); 1. a keeping sabbath. 2. the blessed rest from toils and troubles looked for in the age to come by the true worshippers of God and true Christians (R. V. sabbath rest): Hebrews 4:9. (Plutarch, de superstit. c. 3; ecclesiastical writings.)

So let’s pull Hebrews 4:1-12 all together?

The context is God’s rest from the week of creation on the 7th Day of the creation week (Heb 4:1-5).

Those that did not enter into God’s rest (7th Day Sabbath) did not enter in because of their unbelief and disobedience (sins) to God’s Word. The Gospel was preached unto them but they did not believe it (Heb 4:2). God did not give them His true rest (Heb 4:5-8).

This is the same warning for those that disobey Him and do not follow His Word. Only those that believe and obey God’s Word enter into his 7th Day Sabbath rest (Heb 4:6, 9, 10-12).

So you can see Jesus is not a Sabbath. The Sabbath is the 7th Day of the Week. Jesus is Lord of this Day because he is the creator of this day (Exodus 20:8-11; Heb 4:4; Mark 2:28).

There is no scripture in all of God’s Word that says that Jesus is a Sabbath only that he is the Lord of the Sabbath and he made it for all of mankind and commands us to keep it as a holy day as a memorial of creation (Mark 2:27-28; Gen 2:1-3; Ex 20:8-11)

Matthew 11:28-30 is talking about the rest we receive through BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God and the peace of forgiveness of sins. It is NOT referring to God's Sabbath which is a day (Exodus 20:8-11) although if you BELIEVE and follow God's Word you will also enter God's Sabbath rest.

There is NO scripture that says Jesus is a Sabbath.

If you disagree with the above by all means prove your case from the Word of God. If you cannot you should BELIEVE God's Word because ONLY God's Word is true (Romans 3:4)

May God bless you as you seek Him through His Word.

None have yet entered into the rest the Messiah offers, any that claim to have made their own definition of what rest is:

2 Thessalonians 1:5-10, “Clear evidence of the righteous judgment of יהוה, in order for you to be counted worthy of the reign of יהוה, for which you also suffer, since יהוה shall rightly repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give you who are afflictedrest with us when the Master יהושע is revealed from heaven with His mighty messengers, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know יהוה, and on those who do not obey the Good News of our Master יהושע Messiah, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Master and from the esteem of His strength, when He comes to be esteemed in His set-apart ones and to be admired among all those who believe in that Day, because our witness to you was believed.”

Revelation 14:13, "And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me: Write: Blessed are the dead, the ones dying in the Messiah from now on! Yes, says the Spirit: because they will rest from their labors, and their works do follow them!"

So the Lord Jesus Christ is not authorized to offer rest?

And Paul lies when he says we are dead to the law so we can be alive to Christ?

So you don't believe?

Gods Rest.

Hi Grandpa, can you explain what you mean above? What is it you believe Jesus says? What is Paul confirming?

Col 2 is referring to the Mosaic Shadow laws for remission of Sin which includes the New Moons, annual ceremonial festival sabbaths and holy convocations of Leviticus 23 which could fall on any day of the week (these are not the weekly Sabbath of God's 4th commandment) that were pointing to Jesus and have their fulfillment at the cross (see Exodus 20:8-11; John 19:31;Lev 23:24; 32)

When one of the Festival sabbaths (not weekly 4th commandment) or Holy convocations of Leviticus 23 fell on a normal weekly Sabbath (4th commandment) it was called a high Sabbath day ..................

John 19:31 (BSB)
It was the day of Preparation, and the next day was a High Sabbath. So in order that the bodies would not remain on the cross during the Sabbath, the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies removed.

John 19:31 (KJV)
The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, for that sabbath day was an High day, besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

John 19:31 (NIV)
Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

The annual festival Sabbaths of Lev 23 were different to God's weekly 7th day Sabbath of the 4th commandmenthere are a few examples below...........

Leviticus 23

4, These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
5, In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S Passover.
6, And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
7, In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
8, But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Leviticus 23:24

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

Leviticus 23
26, And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
27, Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
28, And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
29, For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
30, And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
31, Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32, It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

Now these special Sabbaths that were NOT the weekly Sabbath of God's 4th commandment (Exodus 20:8-11) could fall on ANY day of the week and whatever day it fell on NO Work was to be carried out hence special or uncommon sabbath. (see High Sabbaths wiki)

But people with NO understanding want to make the Rest that the Lord Jesus Christ gives NO REST. They want to make the words that Paul says into a lie as well. I don't understand. Are they just tares? Are they just not yet come to Christ? Since they don't know what they are talking about why do they pretend?
Grandpa your comments above are a little disappointing and only show you have not read the OP and all the scripture provided.

As mentioned earlier God's 4th commandment is one of the ten ( Exodus 20:8-11 ) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness w e are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness w e are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

May God bless you as you seek Him through His Word.
the spirit of ten commandments is forever

and the spirit of Ten Commandments is love

1 Corinthian 13

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. ( love in action)

Walk trough the valley
The tablets of stone were carved by Moses after he broke the ones he received.
"I will take away your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
The new covenant Law is written on our heart by the Holy spirit. Hebrews 10:16
"You do not need anyone to teach you, 1John2:27
"Some preach Christ out of strife and contention and some out of love and well doing."
Paul was not disappointed about those who preach out of strife, he said he rejoiced that Christ is preached either way?
Trying to force people to be under the Law, they are freeing them from the Law:
It's in our nature not to be told what to do, but to have free will.
"Only by pride come contention."
The law was meant to expose us and bring us to Christ
Hearing all the contention about the Law helps us walk away from a heart of stone and face our need of the Lord.

I honor the Lord every day alike, but if I had chosen to honor the Lord a day above another I would rest alone with Him and not at a church meting, I have been going to a church meting Friday evening recently, I would have to quit if I chose to honor the Lord on that day, can you at least see the folly of turning things upside down.
But as long as you are helping people get free from the Law, don't let me stop you.

Nice post my friend! I really appreciate the time you put in here! Praise GOD!

I love Hebrews. It is one of my favorite letters. I see it a little different I think. I will post it here for you and everyone to considerer. I pray the LORD will continue to guide us and establish us in HIS Word; Jesus Christ.

The keeping of the 7th day Sabbath is reaffirmed in the book of Hebrews for those who received the Gift of the Gospel.
Heb 4

1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
The Rest, His Rest, is the Gospel, the victory over sin through His indwelling Spirit.

2.For unto us was the Gospel preached , as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

The Gospel which is the New Covenant, the placing of God's commandments, His Word, His intent into our hearts and minds through the indwelling of His Spirit. This is the rest in verse 1 which we enter into through faith. Or do not enter into because of unbelief (obstinate and rebellious).

This unbelief is discussed earlier in chapter 3

Hebrews
3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day, [now] if ye will hear his voice,......
8 Harden not your hearts,......
11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For they do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, (his indwelling Spirit) if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? [was it] not with them that had sinned,

Through an Evil heart of unbelief, we depart from the living God, hardened through the deceitfulness of sin we will not know His ways.
So today hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation when they did provoke. Them that sinned, evil hearted unbelievers, hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Which whom was He grieved? Them that sinned and had not held their confidence steadfast unto the end. These are those who had not entered into His Rest

Now Back to chapter 4:1,2

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it]

4:3 For we which have believed, do enter into rest.

We do enter into His Rest. We have received the Gospel the New Covenant, Which is His Commandments, His Word in our Hearts and in our minds. The anointing. For it is He that worketh in us to will and do His good pleasure. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.
2 Cor. 3:5 Heb 8:10

3 As he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

The works for our salvation in the Gospel were finished from beginning when He had laid the foundation of the World.
We trampled on the gift of the Gospel from the Beginning of time and even though we deserve God's wrath salvation is still available to us.

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love..... the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Rev 13:8; Eph 1:4

Now pay attention please.

4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And in this again, If they shall enter into my rest.

And in this again, the Sabbath, the Seventh Day if we enter into, receive His rest, the Gospel, the indwelling of His Spirit. HIS Commandments, His Word being placed in our hearts and in our minds that we may do it.
God spoke of the Seventh Day in a certain place and that certain place was on Mt Sinia.
And this again, He speaks; "if we shall enter into His Rest," receive of the Gospel, Gods indwelling Spirit.

His Commandments are in our Hearts and in our minds and yes that includes the Sabbath according to the teachings of Hebrews chapter 4.

6.Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein , and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Unbelief here is G543 in Strong's work. It is ἀπείθεια apeitheia (ap-ei'-thei-ah) n. in the Greek and according to Strong's means disbelief (obstinate and rebellious) The BDAG Lexicon goes a bit deeper. It states...

ἀπείθεια, ας, ἡ (s. ἀπειθής; X., Mem. 3, 5, 5 et al.; ins; pap; 4 Macc 8:9, 18: 12:4; PsSol 17:20) disobedience, in our lit. always of disob. toward God (cp. Jos., Ant. 3, 316); somet. w. the connotation of disbelief in the Christian gospel (see ἀπειθέω).

Seeing therefore some must yet receive the rest (the Gospel).

Remember in the previous chapter they Never received the Rest (the Gospel). Therefore since they never truly enter into union with the Father they never truly kept a Sabbath. They could not due to their unbelief (disobedience) through the deceitfulness of sin.

A unholy being cannot keep a day holy, sanctified. Their very presence defiles it. So they never truly kept the Sabbath. They were defiled by the deceitfulness of sin. We are enjoined to rest and to keep the day Holy. If we have iniquity on our hearts it prevents us from keeping it Holy.

Therefore unless we receive the Gospel (the Rest) we as they, can never can truly keep the 7th day Sabbath in the way our Lord YHWH had intended. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this again, (HE speaks) If they shall enter into my rest (the Gospel).

7. Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David [Ps 95:7,8] To day, [ Now ]after so long a time; as it is said , To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts as in the day of provocation,

Verses six and seven are a call to repentance. Today (in other words now) after so long a time today (right now) if you will hear His voice harden not your hearts. Receive the rest that we receive in Christ, the Gospel. For He is our God and we are the people of His Pasture, His Resting, His indwelling; for we are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them and walk in them Heb 8:10 I will put my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts and I will be their God and they shall be my people. That is the Gospel; the New Covenant.

8.For if Jesus had given them rest , [Joshua leading the children of Israel into the promised land] , then would he, David, [See Psalm 95] not afterward have spoken of another day.

9.There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

The Greek word here in verse 9 for rest means a "sabbathing", a keeping of a Sabbath. Prior to this the Greek word used for rest meant to rest, to stop. That is why it was used in relation to the Gospel. God wants us to stop living our lives in sin and live our lives in Him. Rest in Him. His Rest, the Gospel. For it is He that wants to work in you both to will and do His good pleasure.

10.For he that is entered into his rest [received the Gospel. Which by the way enables us to be Holy and remain so, through His indwelling Spirit ], he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.

Did you get that? Because of receiving the Gospel we cease from our own works as GOD did from His. "As is" is a direct comparison. So with that you must ask yourself how and when did God cease from his own works?

The answer to that is recorded in Gen 2.... on the Seventh Day, And God did rest from all His work on the seventh day (see Hebrews Verse 4 and Genesis Chapter 2:1-3).
God Is a Spiritual Being he is always in the state of Spiritual Rest. On the Seventh Day, the Sabbath he ceased from the physical labor of creation. And this is recorded in Genesis 2.

Therefore they that have received the Gospel ( the Spiritual Rest), cease from their own physical work as God did from His physical work on the 7th day Sabbath. And this is, was and will continue to be done on the Seventh day of the week.

14 For we are made partakers of Christ, (his indwelling Spirit) if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

Hi LB,

Nicely put together. It's nice to see God guiding others in their own bible study time with him. Thanks for sharing I always get a blessing seeing others study God's Word.

May God bless you as you continue in His Word.

the spirit of ten commandments is forever and the spirit of Ten Commandments is love
1 Corinthian 13 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. ( love in action)
Yes Love is the fulfilling of God's Law as outlined in Romans 13:8-10. If you are SINNING against God or your fellow man by breaking God's commandments however you are not free to love and do no know him who loves all because you are still in your sins.

This is why Jesus says If you love me, keep my commandments....

Love and the fruit of OBEDIENCE by FAITH is a sign of those who follow and love the Lamb (Rev 12:17; 14:12; 22:14)

Hello stillness,

It is not about what day you are honoring God on and may God bless you as you seek to honor him every day. What we are discussing here however is the if you profess the name of Christ and you have known UNREPENTANT SIN in your life you do not KNOW Him who loves all and your SINS will keep you OUT of God's Kingdom.

It's never been about following the law its always been about following Christ by faith through love alone. Faith that works by love is what fulfills God's Law in those that walk in His Spirit (Romans 13:8-10).

Obedience is only the fruit of faith and a sign that someone is genuinely following God's Word (Matthew 7:17-27). If you seek obedience without faith you will never attain it because this is the gift of God written on the heart (Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 2:16; Hebrews 8:10-12).

But if you believe God's Word, your faith will be counted for righteousness in God's eyes (Romans 1:17; Philippians 3:9). If your faith does not have the fruit of obedience (God's work in you) than you are still in your sins and have not seen him or known him and your faith is dead (Philippians 2:13; Hebrews 10:26-27; 1 John 2:2-4; 1 John 3:3-9).

What we are talking about is SIN and how SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's Kingdom. If you profess to have saving FAITH but your faith does NOT have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to God's Word then your faith is DEAD and you are still in your SINS and do not KNOW him who calls us in LOVE to LOVE all as he first LOVED us. LOVE is the fulfilling of the LAW in those who walk by FAITH in God's Spirit. (James 2:18; 20; 26; Romans 13:8-10; 1 John 3:3-10; James 2:8-12; Matthew 7:13-20)

There are only two classes of people spoken about in God's Word. These are those that follow God by Faith through LOVE and those that do not. Those that do NOT BELIEVE have rejected His Word. Those that have NOT Heard the WORD are ignorant and God winks at. Those that have heard the Word however and have rejected God's Word are UNBELIEVERS and unless they repent and confess their SINS they WILL NOT Enter into God's Kingdom (Hebrews 10:26-27)

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)
