Why do you think people gossip? Is it insecurity? Vindictiveness?

I hate it, especially coming from christians. :( Why do you think it happens?

I choose all of the above plus failure to communicate. Have you ever played "telephone"? It's amazing how quickly even simple things can get misinterpreted and passed along as fact without even realizing they aren't.
 
Q. Why people gossip?

a) Reprobate mind?
b) Vexation of spirit?
c) Disregard to esteem others better than themselves?
d) Having vinegar instead of blood in their veins?
e) All of the above?
 
I think it comes from envy, recently someone told me to read psalms 37 to face gossip, being still and hope in the Lord
 
Same I have been questioning about just being mean towards others. Why being mean at someone that never have done you anything bad, and why having joy in doing bad against others; whether it is verbally or physically? Especially when done against people that are plain friendly and kind with them? I often think that when someone can be kind and good towards someone else, it gives you a lot more inner joy than when being mean.

Jules this is a great topic. I for one have been on the recieving end of gossip, and it is so hurtful. Some people like to stir up trouble and create drama cause they have nothing better to do.
 
I hear Nod is really way hotter than she leads us to believe on here. ;) And the way she prepares those delicious armenian dishes...fawggedaboutit! :D

I think for some people who are insecure it somehow boosts their ego to show other people that they somehow are privy to inside information about other people. Of course everyone has to love "christian gossip" (please pray for John he's been cheating on his wife, beats his children and is addicted to cocaine). :rolleyes:
 
I wish I understood why gossip is so prevalent in churches. It makes people feel judged in a place they should feel love and acceptance. Gossip is a big reason I fell away from the church for so long. I wish people would wake up and realize how destructive it is.

Im glad you dont mind when i sit outside your house at all creepy hours of the night with my armenian dinners ;)
