Thank you!!! I wasn't here 10 minutes on this sight and the law was shoved on me! Anyway I was giving scripture of Grace and got a old testament beating. I have a book from Ray Comfort. The way of the master. Now in this book it has a way of using the law in evangelism to expose the sin to a non believer bringing the sin to their conscience. Paul used the law, prophecy and the truth about Calvary. So if we use it it should be for this. Many other preachers have comments in this book about how the law is essential to draw the sinner out and to repentance and possible salvation
It writes itself. it's God's word, not mine.

To be without law is to be "lawless". This is the heresy of Antinomianism, which means 'without law'. First termed by Martin Luthur and something John Wesley and his associates fought against at the time.
It rebirthed in the Scofield Bible notes and has been popularized by the 'Free Grace" movement.
Sad but true that the Gentiles never had the law.

Acts 15, specifically states that Gentiles are not under the Mosaic Law.

The apostles told the Gentiles to avoid sexual immorality.

The apostles could have said obey the ten commandments but they did not.

Here is the proof of what the apostle Paul taught an infant church in Thessalonica.

1 Thessalonians 4:2-3
For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. For this is the will
of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality.

1 Thessalonians 4:9-11
Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves
are taught by God to love one another
; for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are
in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more, and to make it your ambition to lead
a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands
, just as we commanded you.

Now your going to say that Paul taught the ten commandments?

Jeremiah prophesied that in the New Covenant God would write His Laws upon the human heart.
Yes indeed. It is the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. It says nothing about following a written code of conduct.

If you want to know the difference, read the Sermon on the mount. The Law is the ministry of condemnation and death. God did not save us just to put us back under the ministry of death. I disobey many of the rules and regulations that Pharisees would condemn me for. I don't go by them. I go by the leading of the Holy Spirit within me.

My wife and visited a friend who struggling. It was on the sabbath. Shock horror, we stopped on the way and bought some hot cross buns. I can visualise the flying rocks right now. The fact that our friend was encouraged and strengthened does not matter to Pharisees of any generation.

It wasn't Paul it was you!! Ja

Remember what Job said the wicked were as good as? You stink!!

The Law written in our hearts is not an external code of behavior, but the love of God poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
Love is the fulfilling of the Law. Thus, Jesus taught that the greatest commandments are to love God with our whole being and to love others as we love ourselves. This love is the fruit of the Spirit. Thus, as we love, we fulfill the moral law of God.
This is not legalism but grace.

Preach that to that law enforcement.right above my post.

Thus, Jesus taught that the greatest commandments are to love God with our whole being and to love others as we love ourselves.
A little scattered but a good attempt.

The two greatest commandments in the law are "to love God with our whole being and to love others
as we love ourselves". Israel was given those commandments in a blood covenant ratified at Mt Sinai.
The Gentile nations were not signatories to that blood covenant.

Those two greatest commandments were fulfilled by Jesus for the Jews.

Those fulfilled commandments, become the two greatest commandments in the new covenant as shown below.

1 John 3:23-24
This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another,
just as He commanded us. The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him.
We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

You will notice that the name "God" changed to Jesus Christ.

Secondly, that 'love of others as you love yourself' was upgraded to 'loving others as Christ loved us'.

Now that is a very big upgrade to the law.

So we know that Jesus was only sent to the Jews and we know Jesus fulfilled the entire law, for the Jews.

We also know that at a later date the Gentiles were grafted into that new covenant in Christ's blood.

We were never the natural olive tree but a wild olive tree!

So what commandments apply to the Gentiles?

Are you still with me?
