Been pondering the parable of the debtors, a lot lately, in Luke 7:40
I am one of those who has received a great deal of mercy. I have made so many poor choices in my life that hurt myself and others. So the parable of the debtors resonance with me on such a personal level.
Do we all need His mercy, to cancel out our debts? Yes, absolutely, but some more than others. I do think that there is such a sweet blessing in having great repentance, though. It has great potential, thanks be to Him, for great transformation, causing a great capacity towards love, mercy, humility, and wisdom, as long as we keep growing in Him.
Don't get me wrong, I highly admire those who seem to uphold the righteousness of Him, most all the time, for most of their lives. I also admire strength of character and wisdom. I, myself, keep growing in this area. However, not by my will, but by His.
So where am I going with this thread?
Hmmm, I just think regardless if we have sinned just a little or have a lot, I think it is so beautiful that He even uses the darkness of our own inclinations and satan’s influence to grow our capacity to do justice, to love Him and others, extending mercy and service, and to walk humbly with Him. He truly is a miracle worker!!!
