During the Christmas holiday, I watched two related movies produced by Brandon Kimber.
The titles are:
American Gospel: Christ Alone
American Gospel: Christ Crucified
Brandon is a very sharp young filmmaker. Both of these movies contain a lot of great diagrams that display the problems related to false "gospels" that are invading the American scene.
In the first movie, the charismatic/Word of Faith scene is targeted. However, the focus is placed upon the Reformation and the principles that came from it.
In the second movie, the Emergent Church movement is targeted due to their denial of penal substitutionary atonement. The movie addresses some of the whacky teachings of Brian McLaren and Rob Bell, amongst others. Their claims regarding the "monster god" of penal substitutionary atonement are addressed.
I highly recommend both movies.
The first one is available on Amazon Prime. The second one is available on Vimeo. Both require a rental fee of $5 or so. However, we spend much more on trashy secular movies. I have no problem paying $5 for a well-researched movie.
Here is an interview of Brandon Kimber. He isn't very articulate in this interview. It seems to me like he's an introvert. However, his films are great:
I am glad some individuals are using their gifts to address the false gospels that are invading the American Christian scene.
