I have a very long and drawn out story, so I won't be able to take the time to type it all out...but I'm in my second marriage, married to a man for whom I am wife #5, and found on my birthday evidence that he had emailed, met and had sex with another married woman. He put up profiles 2 years ago on several dating sites looking for discreet 1 on 1 sex, and this woman is in his words, 'the only one that answered' so he started emailing her, called her on the work phone only once, met her in a parking lot 'to size each other up' and within a week followed her to her home and had sex with her. once. This was 2 years ago, and I uncovered the evidence in the days leading to, and found her ON my birthday. He answered 'yes' to my question if he slept with her. He answered this question a few weeks ago on my birthday, and has been telling me over the past 2 years he had made up his mind to tell me after my birthday...but I found it first.

I was a sinner when I first married, but a saved Christian by the time I married the 2nd time....although I had long been away from church, I still thanked God every day and prayed. My husband, though not previously a churchgoer much, did own a Bible and read to me before we were married. I believe he prayed as well.

Over the years, with the good and the bad, my husband gave me no reason to think he wasn't capable of full commitment to his vows. His explanation for this lapse was 'a weakness,' or 'I was in a dark place.' Overnite he found a counselor from our insurance, and asked me to go with him (waiting for him) to his sessions.

He picked out a church and asked if we could go, if not there, then visit, because he said he is interested in finding a church home.

He has lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks down to 225. He invites me to come next to him on our knees to pray before going to sleep. it's like I'm seeing a miracle, and it's of his own accord.

The problem that I need prayer for, is tied to a boundary I gave him very early in our relationship. I told him that cheating on me is a dealbreaker, and I will detach, then I will leave.

I can feel myself detaching due to all the lies he told early in the marriage, and that he was in rehab, and has twice in 10 years gotten very drunk, the last one being last fall when he fell backwards onto our toilet tank, ripping it from the wall and breaking it sending water everywhere...that is after we went out to eat one night as a family (he was fine when we left) but then he became progressively drunker (he had 2 -6 point beers?) to the point where I had to get his buffet plate for him so we would not be asked to leave.

I keep thinking that the Lord is trying to tell me to stay with my values, but at the same time He isn't ready for me to leave the marriage. Is there an equal consequence to my boundary issue? He says that he completely takes responsibility for his horrific action, and doesn't remember much except he felt he 'woke up' after and got sick as he was leaving her house. He says he never went back, and cut off emails to her shortly after.

I am not at all sure what to ask any of you to pray for, but as far as I am concerned, I told my husband that he has destroyed our marriage and I am left here to survey the desecration of our union. It is no more. There is a piece of paper that says we are married, and I do still love him or I wouldn't be so hurt and angry. I do not want to continue on this path, and if I am 'teaching him how to treat me,' I really do not think I taught him to cheat on me although the circumstances of our meeting and marriage were not the best situation.

I fully believed that after I married him, no matter the bad situations leading to it, that by taking vows I was fully committing to all the vows I took, and being a loving, kind wife. I was so blindsided by this...I know that there is conflict in marriages, but we hardly disagreed much at all, much less fought about anything.

I'm still here, but not sure if I should see an attorney or not, just yet. I did suggest to my husband we might want to consider having a post-nup drawn up.

If my consequence to leave for adultery is not inspired by God, then what plan could God have, or what direction should I go? Observe his actions? How long?

Thank you for being here.

I suggest you go to marriage counseling. I've heard good things about classes like that on the radio. =)

As I read your posting about what to do, this was set on my heart from Jesus.
Ask Me ( Jesus) for my love for your husband to fill your heart, and forgive and love him as I have forgiven and loved you.
I cannot tell or say if this means stay or go, but God will determine your steps.
You and your husband are in my prayers in Jesus for the healing and delight of His full presance and perpose in your lives.

Hugs and God bless

Pray and ask for strength and comfort to remain free from the bitterness that can come to a person when they have been betrayed like this.

Let the power of forgiveness shine from within you my friend.

Glory to Yahvah God and Yahshua the Messiah.

I will pray for you, my sister. :(
And I wait for the Lord to work all things for g-o-o-d.

I will be praying for you both...
My understanding of your post was you gave him the deal breaker; before you both recieved Jesus.
That would put you under a new covenant...
Once you accept Jesus you are under truth, grace and forgiveness.

2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Jeremiah 31:31 - 33
Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Shekaniah,

I was saved in 1989 while previously married. My present husband who committed adultery, does not remember if he was saved 'as a child' or not.

Please tell me if this changes your answer.

I admit to having dropped fellowship, but I have always throughout the years given prayers of thanksgiving to my Lord and Savior. I am often moved to tears in the beauty of our world, I lift in prayer those involved each time I witness an ambulance, fire truck, or funeral procession. I don't say these things for recognition, but to illustrate that I converse with God daily in my life.

even after Israel played the harlot and sacrificed to idols and slept with false gods, GOD YHWH still sent Jesus to wash them clean. He forgave them even when they were cruxifying Him.

He love and sent us the Holy Spirit to teach comfort and guide us.

perhaps He chooses to send us to do the same for others who do not truly know what it means to be in a relationship with GOD, what it means to be loved UNconditionally?

personally if I could not live with it, I would not get a divorce. i would just live alone and do whatever it is I felt that God was leading me to do.

there is more to life and love then just marriage and sex. there is the love of children, the love of friends and the love of God.

I guess what matters now is...
If he has repented and is willing to start living as a man after God's heart.
God can make him into a new creation.
Prayers sent again...

Again, thank you for your responses. It is so comforting to be able to come here and have the fellowship and counsel of believers, rather than the thinking outside of belief.

Husband's counselor has given the name of another counselor for me, and husband has called our insurance. Praise God I can go now, too. Husband's counselor has asked if husband wanted me in the next session with him, and he asked me. Of course I'd like to go. 11 AM tomorrow morning CDT.

I am still torn about the fact that I set a boundary, and he crossed it. It is hard when I also hear the words, "You teach people how to treat you." I for sure do not think that I taught him to treat me like this. This was the purpose of setting the boundary. 10 years ago I would have been ready to enforce it, but now I feel I must enforce it against my feelings and emotions 'now.'

Ariel82, believe it or not, living alone and not divorcing is something I mentioned to husband. It isn't what he wants, of course, but I did not want the divorce to find another man. A divorce would be the way I might have to go to have support, if any, for the length of years we have been married. If he is truly remade into a new creation, he would support or help support me without need of legal recourse, I think.

I am fully in agreement that GOD CAN make him into a new creation, and I have told him that if in the course of the new renewal of faith we are experiencing, that I would gladly walk the walk WITH him to commit himself, and recommit myself to Jesus Christ. In that renewed faith and hope, I could see a new ceremony... all these are things I can see, but I only want this on His timetable, not my own.

There's probably a reason why he's been through a few marriages. I'm sorry you're going though this.

Yep. From my observation in the year we dated before we married, I came to know him as very emotionally needy and desired attention (which I've always given him - I never imagined he could want for more, and it is exhausting).

When I moved here 10 years ago, I was number 3. After we married, I found out I was number 5 - the other two were:
An annulled marriage where the girl told him she was pregnant, but she wasn't - 3 months
One was a live in relationship that he didn't mention because they never married.

That is also part of the list of lies and deception that I gave to his counselor, and will be giving to mine.

My prayers begin this morning at 10 EST...don't bring tissues, they'll have 'em.
Let the Lord accompany you instead. :)

Seriously, though- I pray He will be in your midst, and will bring you peace, and the right words, and a listening spirit.
I'll pray in earnest from 10 till 11, my time.
Blessings!!

May God lead and direct with His Wisdom and Love... all hearst involved.
In Jesus Name, Amen

Update. Praise the Lord. My husband raised his hand at church tonight.

Father! You are so good. :)
I pray You will begin a good work in this husband, and I know You will be faithful to complete it. ♥
