Handicapped Reporter

I was talking this morning with a neighbor. He said he hated both candidates, but voted for Hillary, even though it sickened him, because Trump mocked a handicapped reporter.

He was shocked to learn that Trump never mocked the reporter about being handicapped.... but rather (as I understand it) for going back on all the details of an article he had earlier written about Trump... claiming he never said the good things he said.

The real eye-opener for him was when I told him that, just like every single one of us in the rest of the world, Trump had no idea the reporter was handicapped. No, not a one of us had any ideal who this guy was, nor that he is handicapped...... UNTIL the media tried to make something of this previously unknown fact.

He said he wondered if the woman was silent because as a muslim wife she might not be allowed to speak (I'm paraphrasing)....He was just pointing out how she may be oppressed as a muslim wife...

So the father got really upset and said she didn't speak because she was too stricken with grief to speak and he accused Trump of personally insulting his wife. Of course the media ran with this and told the world that Trump insulted him and his wife....and that is what the ignorant liberals believe.

Why not abstain from voting? Is mocking the crippled really a deciding point on this person? Why not Johnson or Stein (if he viewed Hillary as optional) or McMullin? Any of those options are better than Killary!

There is a video on youtube of Trump using the same voice and hand movements when mocking a dozen other people who are not handicapped.

By the way, I'm ready to get kicked in the teeth for this, so bring it, but when does being disabled entitle anyone to do and say anything stupid and be free from criticism?

I agree. In actuality, if anything, I think Trump was disparaging the man for being someone who would shove a woman into a narrowly defined pigeonhole like that, and subjugate her to just existing as his servant whenever he decided he wanted food, or house-cleaning, laundry, baby-care, or sex.

I'm willing to join you in this. Although there is a certain respect due anyone who served in the Armed Forces, we are not "Special People" who are somehow Saints for having done so. The word "Veteran" has come to mean we are supposed to bow down to them, even when they act like fools. (And many ARE lazy bums who capitalize on this.)

Trump is often put down for his remark about McCain not being deserving of special honor simply because he was a POW. All Trump said is that he liked guys who DIDN'T get captured. Not the best choice of words, but that is one of his appeals. He says what he thinks, without relying upon the polished, practiced performance of a politician to make his words sound smooth and palatable to the majority.

Trump spent 5 years in a Military Academy. He rose to the very top position of his class. He was their Captain. He was always the leader and achiever.... never the one who lost... even in his sports teams. He doesn't applaud anything less than winning. Call this a fault, if you must, but it is just the opposite of Obama, and exactly what this floundering nation needs right now..... PC, or not.
