Hey Everyone,
My original title for this thread was, "Has Anyone Else Seen The Adult Coloring Books?" And then I realized that choice of wording didn't sound quite right... So, back to the drawing board (pardon the pun.)
I had heard about the new "coloring fad" a while ago--people who like to relax with a coloring book but want something more challenging than Barbie or Mickey Mouse--and happened to flip through a book while I was in a store the other day.
In college, I used to go to a coffee house with my friends and you would regularly see people there with coffee, crayons, and coloring books.
I've never really been into coloring (even though I have a fascination with color), but I can certainly see how it could be a relaxing, convenient, and inexpensive hobby.
However... Here are some of the pages I found. What do you think?
These images are gorgeous to look at, but let me tell you, to my knowledge, I don't have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), but I'm pretty sure that looking at these pages long enough would certainly cause me to have it!!!
If I ever take up coloring, I think I'll stick to images like this:
Or maybe this, if I really want a challenge:
I'm also having flashbacks of all the pages I colored when I was a kid and in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School of things like Noah's Ark. Back then, the image was just of the ark, maybe Noah, and a 2 pairs of animals.
I'm pretty sure that if there is a Christian version of a "Coloring Book for Grown-Ups"--it would include the pairs of animals from every species on the planet. ARGH!!! My poor attention span (has just flown out the window.)
Since we've been talking about hobbies a lot here in Singles...
* Were you/are you into coloring? What do you think of these pages? (Relaxing or a spazz-fest?)
* What activities did you enjoy as a kid? (Puzzles, Legos, and for the "older" singles among us ... Tinker Toys? Lincoln Logs? Play-Doh? Lite Brites?) Do you still take time to work on those same things even now as an adult?
Feel free to share pictures and stories!
