Legalism - in the biblical sense of the word - is any attitude or belief that "human merit" can produce, prove or preserve for one-self an acceptable standing before God.

Whenever our assurance of salvation rests upon our "performance" rather than upon the "promises" of Jesus - we are in big trouble as we have fallen from grace.

I think that might be getting a little overboard. Do you open a can of tuna or go to the restroom in faith?

I understand, but I did get it from this Scripture here:

Romans 14:23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.

That's why I am so against putting doubts in people's salvation. I don't want them doubting at all. I want them to be in faith. Because remember how we please God?

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

Copying what it says is one thing..... knowing what it says is something else. These things are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:12-14 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. [SUP]13 [/SUP]Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. [SUP]14 [/SUP]But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
