Suppose I built a resort for homeless people. All I asked for their free use of it is that they stop and say thanks to me on their way in the door. That's it, say thanks and you're in, tell me to eff-off and you can go sit outside on the curb in the weather.

When your enemies thirsts give him something to drink. When he hungers feed him. I guess I would ask if you are being obedient to this commandment or disobedient. I sort of say that in jest to illustrate how we can fight all day long about the intricacies and nuance in scripture and prove everyone to be guilty of transgression in one way or another.

The Bible is what is right. Like I said, we cant have different opinions and both be right. And no, I dont believe a pope is right either. There has to be an absolute truth or there is no truth at all.

Ok so I pose this question once again to MsSusanna. Given that Jesus paid the price for all sin (I assume everyone here agrees on that) and the punishment for dying apart from Christ (in sin) is eternal concious damnation and torture. Why does it appear that Jesus got a get of jail free card in regards to the penalty of the sin he paid for being eternal damnation and torture? I think it's a legit question and for me, it is a glaring discrepancy in regards to the consistency and justice of God and the eternal hell fire doctrine.

Where does it say God douses them with gasoline and flips a match at them? My belief and understanding is that for those who love the world more than God, God gives them the world in it's natural state apart from Him. All God is doing is giving them exactly what they asked for. Kinda like my analogy. The resort would protect them from the weather. It's not my fault they chose to sit in the rain instead. It's not me making them wet. They did that on their own. God's not lighting them on fire. They chose the fire instead of Him.

Jesus' blood was enough to satisfy the Father. There was power in that blood. Power that does not exist in either animal blood nor our blood. Just remember that it does nothing for those who reject it. I agree that eternal damnation ain't pretty, but that's what the Bible says. Jesus did not reject his own atonement. What basis do you have for thinking Jesus ought to go to hell for you. Maybe I'm just to thick to see your point.

God is Love. He is spirit.

When He withdraws His blessings of love and protection, evil (the spirit of no love) has "power".

We do not know pure evil (no love) or pure love, we live in a place with both.

These places are described to us in the symbols of this world so that we can have some understanding of them, relate to them.

"Hell" is being separated from God's love, eternally.

As for the eternal flames,

Heb 10:31, "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

Heb 12;29, "For our God is a consuming fire." (eternal)

I believe that God is the lake of fire.

Think spiritually, not physically.

There are things about our God that we do not know about now.

Yes it does. Jesus Christ died for the sin of the WHOLE world. He paid the penalty for sin.

Your arguing from a false premise. It is not the consequences of sin at stake for unbelievers,Christ paid that penalty. It is the consequence of not believing that Christ died for their sins is what is at stake.

The wages of sin is death. Christ paid that penalty............ For everybody.

The wages of not believing........is what is at stake. Eternal separation.

I think that Jesus describes hell very well in Luke, Many will say "oh well, that is just a parable". Well it's the only parable where he mentions a specific name (Lazarus) and not the same one that was raised from the dead. He said "I am tormented by these flames". Jesus was fully God fully man. He has no sin. If you think Jesus got off scott free with his torturous payment,you may want to watch the "The passion of the Christ" which is a somewhat accurate depiction of his payment for us. Although, it is still not as it really was. Jesus went through a gruesome death . God did pay fully > in Jesus!

Which, btw, it appears to me that you want to place yourself on Gods level. I have already provided you scripture to do a study about that. God is God! He is the potter you are the clay. He is the creator and you are the creation. You have no right questioning why God does things. When you learn that you will fare better. You must have reverence. God is sovereign and God is just! He sets the bar;not you!

Its not like God is slipping in a surprise of damnation for the ones who reject Christ. He has made many a warning. Jesus spoke more on hell than he did heaven. His apostles spoke on hell as well while they may not have always said the word "hell",they did fairly warn just as God led them to do.

The Bible teaches something else. Consider Matt 7:21-23 et seq where people on the Judgment Day who thought they worthy of being born again learn to their dismay that they are not. Jesus tells them, "I never even knew who you were".

Thus, one is NOT born again by self declaration. You will be either born again or denied that on the Judgment Day.

Noone has said that one needs to know the doctrine of hell to be saved.
But, God knows who those people are who need a reality check with the knowledge of sinners sent to lake of fire. I have already said that Jesus and his apostles dealt with people as they needed to be dealt with. Not everyone has a contrite heart until their scoffing mocking attitude is knocked down a few notches

Ya...I've seen the passion of the Christ. It made me weep. Lots of people have died horrendous horrible deaths. Consider for a moment those helpless Jewish children in the Nazi death camps. I was hoping that I might receive an authentic answer from one human to another instead of the religious dogma so easily leaned on.

In the first place, You must understand the scripture you posted in context. What Christ goes on to say is what it looks like to have your house built on the rock vs sand . The authority is through Christ and not religious law. Read 24 - 29

Secondly, those who are really reborn again do know they are saved! They know the Holy Spirits voice. It is a relationship and an intimate one at that.

"For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God... The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." (Romans 8:14,16).
