Hello all, I'm new here and I'm just trying to find new friends who not only would be nice to talk to and get to know, but friends that can help me keep going with God as it's always been going up and down if I must be honest. I'm really trying my best to keep listening and praising God.

Ephesians 6:17
New International Version
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

John 4:24
New International Version
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

'I have learned a daily God consciousness is necessary, and this I believe
in time helps to come closer to God. Also I have learned to strive for
spiritual discipline each day. It works so long as I am earnest in all my coming and going.

The Christian life is likened to things like a war, a wrestling match, and a race in scripture. We all get battle-weary and fatigued at times. As weird as this might initially sound, this is a good indicator that we are in opposition to the enemy, Satan, and on the side of Christ, so be encouraged. It might help if you tell us some specific ways in which you are struggling so we can best advise you and pray for you. Welcome to the forum.

You are doing the right thing by trying your best to keep listening and praising God. I believe that you will find ample opportunity to find friends here that are worth knowing and to help you on your journey. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

I fully concur with your estimation. We are in a war but God will equip us for the battle for those that chose to fight. To do that you have to have a warrior mentality. It's not for everyone though. God is looking for a few good men. A few good women too.

Of course, there's been days where one minute I'm praising God and worshipping him as I should and the next, I end up slowing down to where I only pray every now and then and it'll be a few months to a year before I snap out of it then praise and worship him again. It's been a vicious cycle for me for decades.

I know how you feel. My username says "passion84god" or "passionate for God," and that is how I used to be all of the time. Lately, it's as if I awoke from a trance or something while realizing that other things have crept in and choked my relationship with God. Not totally, but definitely to a scary degree. Sometimes we just need to discipline ourselves. Make sure that you get enough sleep, and begin every day in prayer. If the day start right, then there is a good chance that it will continue in that direction. Jesus often set himself apart from his disciples to pray. If he needed to pray, then we certainly need to pray too.
