That's between you and God ....Nobody can or should make that decision for you.

Maybe because of 1 Corinthians 7:20? .

Each one should remain in the situation he was in when he was called.

Well,
Context is king...
And there's a reason why Paul said that. And that reason was gone by 70AD....10 years after Paul wrote it.

Does God want me too be single?
Best I can say is, live life and see what happens.

So far, for me, the answer is yes, I'm supposed to be single.

That may change tomorrow. It may change in 20 years. It may never change.

Just live your life and go with what God brings your way.

There exists hardwired within all of us a desire to have a spouse and children...to have our own family. To try and do better than our parents in raising the kids.

It never really works out that way but the desire is there. Where for some the initial idea might be daunting and a little scary...most warm right up to the role.

Not to say that other things can't supercede those desires...which is what Paul was talking about in 1Corinthians. Because time was short until the end of an "era". Also the Roman persecution of Christians was about to begin and last for ten years while Rome basically hunted them.

We don't have those things going on today.
Which is why marriage and children are perfectly fine today.

However, I do see elements of the "Mouse Utopia" experiment being mirrored in today's society.

And it's somewhat disturbing that people are acting like animals.

Where we aren't exactly supposed to be showy and demonstrative with our faith for the viewing by others to gain esteem....we are to practice it together. And a spouse to pray with is so especially sweet. Children are like a hunter's arrows and blessed is he whose quiver is full.

I personally don't recommend going out intentionally spouse shopping or hunting. But there is nothing wrong with intentionally making a huge friend network.

If you have a desire to be married and have a family, there's nothing wrong with that. I'd go with Mk 11:23-24 and thank God for His promises. Lord knows there are many Christian women wanting the same lifestyle and seeking a Christian man. It goes w/o saying some are not in a hurry for this and that's fine too.

only God may know that answer. best way to find out: become a born again Christian if you're not, ask God in the name of Jesus Christ, believe, trust, develop faith in that & never quit. AND WAIT PATIENTLY!!!!!!!!

First off, I'm very happy to hear you've decided to trust the Lord as your Savior. What God wants most from us is our faithfulness to Him.

For a Christian, marriage is optional. If you have been blessed with the gift of being single, without compulsion for sex, then stay single. If you can't keep your sexual desires under control you're better off taking a believing wife. The goal of every believer should be self-control. Whatever helps you attain that is probably the best course of action.

All this and more can be found in the New Testament.

Good question TylerSmith, I would from experience, We have learned to Seek Ye First The Kingdom Of GOD and His Righteousness, because He knows just what to give you due to your issue. But to answer your question it is really up to you and Him, I would strongly advise, Marriage is Honorable In All, and Rightly Dividing His Words Unto Him Is very important as a Start.

Love always, Walter And Debbie

Does God want me too be single?

Yes, He may.... I believe God wants most people to get married and have children, one reason being He doesn't want people to have sex outside marriage. Also, through marriage a couple can become more Christ-like as they are supposed to model the relationship between Christ and Church and all that it entails, so in this sense a godly marriage brings glory to God.

However, neither Paul nor Jesus pushed marriage, and there is no command to get married. I don't believe what Paul said about being single only pertains to people during that period, the world is always facing a tough time one way or another, in one area or another. Jesus also placed God at a much higher priority than marriage and family (at one point he said one must hate family in comparison). It is fair to say that Jesus placed the spiritual family at a higher level than biological family.

God doesn't want all people to get married (can't say a percentage), just like he doesn't want all married couples to have biological children (fertility issues, illnesses, etc.). God doesn't want everyone to buy a home either, sometimes renting is best. Or, a person may really want to be a scientist but he may be intellectually challenged. I would just trust God and go over a few of His promises (that He wants the best for us, etc.).
