I am 43yo man from Finland. I have not been religious, not active member of a church. But I have been Christian by tradition and a member of the Evangelic-Lutheran state church as almost everyone here. But it's more like a tradition and the church itself looks like a bureaucratic institution which has lost it's roots.

For the past years I have been tempted to find out more about true Christianity. Been Curious to see if there is something for me. Should I find Jesus to fill the emptiness inside me? I feel like I'm living for my self and maybe I should live for Jesus instead?

I know the Evangelic Lutheran church is not the way for me. I don't know which other options there are? How can I find Jesus and let Him be in control of my life? Could I leave my life into hands of the Lord?

Tervetuloa! Onpas kivaa tavataa sinua!
(Pardon my Finnish... I am a bit rusty)

I can identify with the Lutheran background you are talking about, and I can see why you feel it is not for you.

I also see that the Lutheran church is very different in Helsinki than in Ylivieska. There are many movements inside the Finnish church where some are more to the mark than others. I felt more at home in the Finnish church when I lived there, but that is some years ago now.

I would love to discuss this more with you in private, because I think we might be able to help eachother out here.

Anyway. Welcome to CC. I really hope you will enjoy your time here.

One of the reasons I started searching for online forums and chats (and eventually found my way over here) is that because I'm newbie in my faith and I'm currently all alone in this. I don't have people around me that are interested to talk about The Bible, Lord or Jesus. I'm here to find brothers and sisters in faith.

Hello Keikki..

I found Jesus when i read the Bible..

I always advise seekers to read the New Testament section of the Bible to find out what Jesus is about..

There are always sites like this where you can come and ask questions about the things that you are reading so you can consider the thoughts of Christians on each issue that comes up as you read.. Of course people are people and you will get a wide variety of opinions on some issues you bring up for discussion.. But more often then not you will get an accurate answer from someone.. The idea is to talk with God often and ask for Him to guide you in understanding what you really need to understand reading the scriptures..

May you be greatly blessed in your seeking Keikki and may you be a blessing to others into the future..

Greetings Heikki & welcome to cc... I suspect that you will enjoy your time and experience here.
Lots of amazingly honest, and gracious, sometimes outspoken and opinionated - but always loving, caring and giving of advice for those who are seeking prayer, friendship, support or just a break from their daily routine... God Bless

Going to church is not necessarily the place to find Jesus, but rest easy because if you are searching for Jesus he will find you. If you have not yet done so confess your past sins to Jesus because he died on the cross for your sins and then invite the Holy Spirit to live inside you to comfort and guide you on repentance and the rest of your spiritual journey. Glad to have you join us. Welcome to CC.

Hello Heikki, nice to have you with us! Yes, I know, bureaucracy and boring sermons can be painful. Have a look at parishes around you … maybe you will find what you need? You will find soulmates here to talk to, I‘m sure :). May the blessing of almighty God, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, come down on you and remain with you for ever.
