Well, I suppose an introduction is in order.
My name is steven. I'm 22 and in the United States Navy. I'm currently due to deploy to Iraq at the start of next year. I have been an on and off christian for the past 10 years of my life (give or take). I stumbled upon this forum while googling away and decided giving it a go wouldn't hurt me any. I guess I'll just see what comes of this. :p

I guess the sub-title for this subforum wasn't quite so accurate in stating the intense response new members would be getting after posting here. hmm :/

Well, I suppose I could tell a little about myself to help you guys understand me a little better.
I'm a 22 year old US Navy sailor stationed in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Though a bit of a charismatic, and energetic fellow I'm not nearly as spastic as I used to be, yet I have managed to maintain a great deal of my fun loving, spontaneous demeanor.

I come from an irreparably broken family, with which I no longer associate. I have become a rather independent fellow, having left the church, and almost totally the faith as well while simultaneously becoming a rather withdrawn and awkward person socially. A lot of this stems from my rough childhood and upbringing, but I have never allowed myself to become a mirror of the kinds of people my parents were.

I am an avid video gamer, and fan of all things nerdy. Everything from the realms of science fiction and fantasy catches at least some degree of my interest. I am a learning artist as well. The bulk of my more recent art is featured at high-ate-us.deviantart.com for those of you that may be interested.

Before joining the military, I took a year of college through MASTERS COMMISSION located in Houston, and then Harlingen TX. It was during that year that I attempted to follow a supposed calling as a youth minister, however when I ran out of funds my family opted not to support me due to my choice of career and a difference in denominational faith.

I really don't want to feel like I'm just posting nothing but the negatives that have surrounded my life, but it feels like they largely outnumber the positives. I just need some positive enforcement in my life and I'm not getting that through interaction with my military peers. Hopefully someone will hear that prayer.

(sorry for double posting)

finally someone acknowledges appreciation for nightcrawler ^_^

Really? Wow. That's something I haven't been told in a while. ^_^' Thank you.

Yes I mean it. We've all had some bad times (some worse than others) and we need to pray for each other and encourage other so get used to it...at least from me, haha.

Well Welcome! And thank you for your service for our country! God Bless.,
