Hi y'all, my name is Renate.

I am not a christian, but I joined this forum because I would like to understand why people believe in God.
I live in the Netherlands where most people are atheists, so it seems strange to me. Not trying to be disrespectful or anything, I genuinely want to understand why people believe.

Sorry that most people there are atheists...they do not know what they are missing, not knowing God...He comforts you, fills you with His Peace and joy...not saying all things will always be good, but when bad times come, He is there to comfort and encourage you.....you have the added assurance of spending eternity with Him, no pain, no tears, all joy...noone deep down wants to spend eternity in hell away from the Presence of God....where in hell there is nothing but pain, and feeling the flames of hell...forever and forever! I pray you come to Him as your Savior

Thank you for your answer! Did you know that Dutch children have actually been shown to be the happiest children in the world? As for the afterlife, atheists don't believe there is such a thing as heaven or hell, so they don't actually fear hell.

Hello Renate, welcome to CC :)

Firstly, thank you for being honest and respecting our faith here. I can only speak for myself in relation to your question about why I believe in God. I grew up in a Christian upbringing, every Sunday going to church and Sunday School when I was younger. I never truly understood what “faith” meant and how it would apply in my life. It wasn’t until I went through some things which included gangs (minor) and finding love in the wrong places was when I truly found Jesus or when He found me. My life changed for the better and now I’m in a place where I fully have the faith and understand why I do, moreso it was the Love of God that broke me from my chains and the forgiveness and mercy.

I now know what Love is about and I fully intend on sharing it with those who seek Him or are lost in this world as well.

If you keep your heart and mind open you may very well understand why people believe in God,, and even more importantly, why God believes in you. Hopefully, you will gain a certain measure of understanding here. Glad to have you join us. Welcome to CC.

Perhaps this is your purpose in life doing this work that your Heavenly Father has prepared for you to accomplish beforehand.
