Sooo Jesus punched me in the face in June of 2013 and I have never been the same since then.

A little back story to who I am...I am a student...raised Catholic and from a messed up home. I was never taught about the bible in Sunday school. I always had the faintest sense that God was in my life. I started questioning God when I was young.... made mistakes and got stuck in those cycles for a long time until I met some Christians who shared the Word with me...I feel like I have been chasing this relationship ever since.

There are so many changes, processes, healing issues going on- some of them fast some of them excruciatingly slow and complicated. The common denominator is that I "feel" like I am going through this alone-for so long I have justified that I can do things alone. I am coming to the conclusion that I can not do that anymore- nor can I sit around and expect someone else to do that for me. So I am reaching out, looking to connect with other Christians... to talk about the awesome things I am learning and to get different perspectives on my struggles.

This is hard for me...admitting that I need help but it is necessary .

Dear ccelestiald

I want to encourage you with the words of Paul in Romans 8:1 "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus".....becoming a Christian is a journey of being formed into the image of Christ and even though we are willing, we are often weak and do no persevere in the things of God. Please continue reading the rest of Romans 8 too - yes the whole chapter!!! It explains very well the conflict between the flesh and the spirit and if you can meditate on these verses regularly it would strengthen your spirit and grow your faith. We need to mix a bible verse with faith for it to have power. I have suffered from discouragement and depression in the past, even while I was quoting encouraging scriptures and I never understood why, until I realised that I need to act upon what I read. If the bible says to praise God, I should do it, even if I have issues that cause heartache. If the bible says that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, then I should not give up, no matter what. God will bring the right people on your path to strengthen you but a good place to start would be to join a fellowship of bible-believing Christians who would be more than happy to walk this road with you........but always remember, even while people can fail you, Christ never will......he is right there with you now and will be with you every step of the way until you go home one day.

Thank you for your confession, Celestial! Feel free to reach out to me whenever you need a prayer partner or just somebody to share some thoughts. I am praying for your success and happiness. You are not alone. There is love all around you.

I encourage you to find a local church. This should be a place where you feel you can grow and be challenged. And once you find that place get connected by attending bible study or connect groups. You would be surprised the number of Christians surrounding you. Sometimes we just have to pivot to the right or left.

Also, if you can, try to get plugged into volunteering in your community. Take inventory of your skillset and see how you can apply it to a need. I work with children with autism. I did it in high school for the Special Olympics and one day had a thirst to get back into that arena. You too have talents that can inspire somebody out there.

And as Habbakuk said, stay in the word. The bible can seem daunting and even like a riddle -- I would recommend Biblehub.com as a user friendly source to help break down scriptures and their deeper and richer meanings. And don't forget to pray and just have a conversation with God. Find a prayer closet and let loose :) And please don't forget the love and blessings surrounding you!
