Here's my full question
How can I fully have faith and trust that God will do what he says he'll do w/o doubting that he'll carry it out?
I've had to talk to a few people yesterday and today about a situation I'm in.
I realize I'm struggling w/ having complete faith in God and letting things go and letting him take full control.
How can I work on that and have faith and trust in God that he will handle this situation for me?
Growing in trusting God I think can mean different things to different people. What I think would be good and always is good, is to soak in the promises of God, his love, his altogether character, what the bible says in general. Then you want to act on it. I could easily say that I trust God and know he is with me and cares about me, but if I don't step out of my comfort zone and face fears and anxieties, I am living as though it is not true and it is not practicing trust. Trust grows as you learn promises of God and his character AND face fears and getting out of comfort zone. And as I do that, I can see the truth that God can be trusted and he is telling the truth when he says I will be with you and will help you. If it is not facing fears, it can also it be letting go of perceived control or the need to control and let God be God. This is not easy but it can help learning that God is good and he is Sovereign. Then practicing letting go of the need for control. These things take time and everyone can grow in trusting in the Lord.
I do have some song recommendations as I believe songs can really speak to the heart and it is one of the ways God uses to speak to people. I can especially be moved by songs and that may be why I have shared songs the way I have before.
The song Oceans. One of the lyrics in it is " Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters, wherever you would call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander and my faith will be made stronger in the presence of my Savior"
The song Lord I Trust You by Selah. It is a powerful song.
And though not a Christian song but powerful message, the song Invincible by Kelly Clarkson. I especially recommend this song if you have ever dealt with panic attacks. Some people feel like they have to prove to God that they are not fearful as they thought they were before or prove that they are a new person. I have been there and if you feel that way let me tell you that you don't need to prove anything. God is the one who changes us. We are new in Christ Jesus and not in ourselves. If you are feeling like you are weak or powerless, this song is great. In Christ and through Christ we are invincible. We are warriors. Do know that in the places where we are weak, that is where God's strength can shine the brightest.
Also doubt and faith often go hand in hand. Doubt can lead to stronger faith or weaker faith. Say if you have doubts of God loving you. That doubt may lead you to pray and ask God to show you his love and lead you to really listen to what the bible says and songs say about God's love and believe in God's love for you more. As you believe more about his love that can lead to trusting God more. And as you trust God, you may believe even more in his love for you and faithfulness. Or you could decide to do nothing about the doubts of God's love for you and you may thing of all the bad you have done. You might think of how you felt unloved by someone and think of God in a negative way. So by doing nothing about the doubt and entertaining it, faith can weaken.
