Easy... they need to love God more than they love me.. A complete sell-out for Christ = wife material
 
Something not spoken of much here, and spoken of A Lot by Paul in the new testament is false believers and their destruction. We are told to not even eat with false believers and that it is a lot better to befriend a non-believer, than someone who pretends to be one. Unevenly yoked Christians are simply a true Christian with a false christian. The lord will reveal to you these people if you seek him and are willing to see what they are like in their lives. When you are around a false Christian you will feel burdened with judgement, and will feel unworthy of the Grace of God. True believers will uplift you and remind you of the Grace of God. We live by faith, not by works.

Jesus
didn't have a denomination, he didn't need to read the bible daily because he was the Word (though he read scriptures in the temple a ton before he had to go away from it), he was the ministry, he prayed daily, he had a fasting lifestyle...and he was with the church daily.. (his disciples)..
so he pretty much was christian enough :)
 
Let me share with you guys this short story about me. Some couple of years ago, i met this lady at church, we became friends, but as time goes on because and i am single and she told me she is too, our friendship became intimate, we go to church and pray together, i like her because we met in church and i thought shes a gonna be a good Christian that we perfect together, eventually i got to know she was married with 3kids, she left her husband with the kids and ran to another state were i met her, we were friends for 5 months and she didnt tell me, when i asked her for a date she accepted, thank God i didnt fall prey...

The funny thing about this world we live in is that people tend to pretend alot, to determine the level of christianity of the partner or friend u keep, you have to be careful and tell God about u, bible says God will guide every step we take" for this reason we should not make choice on our own.... Thank u

Every single time I have met a man who turned out not to be the believer I thought they were, I always knew pretty quickly.. ... I always knew.. I had red flags.. did I ignore them? yes sometimes, other times no...but GOD...gives us wisdom...the Holy Spirit whispers it into our hearts and we know..we just often don't want to see..

Wow, this is quite an ordeal! Sorry you had to go through that...I'm amazed.
Leaving a husband isn't quite so unheard of, esp. if abuse or cheating are involved, but leaving her children?
This is a confused, cold person (at least temporarily), she needs to fix her issues and it will be hard work. Glad you didn't get in too deep with her. Maybe her situation will bring her to the Lord, but may also be a very long journey. Good thing you found out when you did.
 
I am about to go and explore the dating scene...The Lord showed me that I am ready to do this ( I'm a single mom, got saved 5 years ago during my pregnancy) anyway, before that I had bad relationship after another....This past year the Lord had brought a brother in my life to sharpen me in the area of dating, he brought me a good man to show me how to put boundaries and what to look for in a Christian man ( the Lord told me this is not my husband ) God brought me this man to give me a new " barometer" on how to....I don't want to use the word rate, but to show me what a good man is...Anyway, to your question/ statement....I believe someone who is a strong Christian is someone who is an encouragement to the way you worship and the kinds of convictions that the Holy Spirit has brought up in yourself, someone who is supportive of your convictions and shows qualities of love and forgiveness...A big one too, I feel, is when people express their strongholds, struggles and stumbles... Just be grounded in what the Lord has been revealing to you....There are "different" kinds of Christians that have different issues and strengths- I can not drink alcohol at all....But my brother can handle a drink and drink responsibly- my family celebrates Christmas with giving gifts....A girl at my church, her and her husband do not decorate or exchange gifts- I have a TV, but a couple in my congregation don't own a TV- be patient, pray, listen to the Lord- my pastor also stated in a class for dating that two things need to happen for marriage- time and preparation... Sorry for long post, but this is what I'm/ have been and is learning about dating... Praying for you and anyone else out there, and please pray for me because I'm ready to date ✝
