I feel empty sometimes, alone or just want someone to love me. How do you let God fill your emotional need? Do you spend time with God each day? What scriptures do you focus on? What do you meditate on? Any thing else? Thank you.

I read and meditate on scripture. Also staying in prayer and praise really helps me feel the presence of God. And yes I would recommend being with the Father daily.

Hi EverydayisaGift, I love your name and that's a good answer to your question - to remember that each day is a gift! \o/ That's me praising God. :)

I feel empty sometimes too. The best thing I find is to be real with God. Cry, weep let God have and hear your sorrow in whatever way you can.

There are times I read God's word out loud so I can hear it. It's comforting.

There are times when I'm in so much pain that I cry before the Lord for comfort. It's a day when I just want to go back and crawl into my warm sheets and cover my head.

But instead, I'll take my bible and open its pages flipping through until my eyes catch a scripture that lights up my heart. And as I'm reading it to God, I thank Him for His love and kindness even though I suffer with pain each and every day. Some days are worse than others. And I thank Him for His strength for the day or I begin to sing the song, This Is The Day The Lord Has Made, I Will Rejoice And Be Glad In It.

It's amazing how God brings me comfort. Most people I know just don't understand what others are go through with chronic issues - but it's so comforting because God understands. It may sound strange, I hope not, but I feel hugs from Him.

There are days when I'm sitting in my recliner and I just don't have energy, I'm in pain and I just can't do a thing. But many times after I spent my time with God, He energizes me and lessens my pain. I'm able to climb out of my chair, take a shower and go run some errands.

I would also suggest that you get in a good bible study. Also, I heard on the radio one time that to have a good friend you need to be a good friend. Do you have any close friends?

I can't go to a local bible study because of my limitations, but there are precept bible studies online and others as well. The precept studies will have new ones coming up after the first of the year. If you're interested I can let you know more info when I find out.

What's so great about these studies is that they use audio conferencing so when you sign up, you'll find out how to use the online conferencing software. If you've used skype, it will be something similar only just audio. But the teacher can show slides as a visual and we can all hear one another as we do the study either through our computer, laptop, tablet or phone.

I'm talking too much so I'll close for now. I'll pray for you now and consider yourself hugged!

I love your post.

Tears are also prayers and God hears them well then comforts you that after crying you feel a lot better. When we cry, He must be crying too.

I believe that contentment, having a grateful heart, counting our blessings and helping others can help in dealing with feelings of emptiness.

How do you let God fill your emotional need?

I commit it to him and take time with him.. Fasting, Praying, Ministering,...

Do you spend time with God each day?
Oh yes especially when I go to college I leave early to be alone talking with God on the train Station in the morning before anybody comes... People sometimes walk in on me talking out loud.. lol you may think me crazy now..

What scriptures do you focus on?
Okay.. there ya go. My Morning routine (and the Lords prayer but I think we all know that one)
Psalm 91
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
And some parts from Psalm 118

12 They compassed me about like bees: they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.
16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
18 The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.

22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
23 This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.
29 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Joshua 1:9 (occasionally)

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
And I take up my full armour every morning according to Ephesians 6...
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
What do you meditate on?
:P what do I not meditate on... I meditate on a lot.. Mostly things just start crossing my mind like themes from the news where I start randomly talking about it with God..

Any thing else?

Well.. like said God is everywhere you go at all times. Dont be afraid to go to him. Time with him is important. and He thinks about you all the time. He thinks without you without ceasing. God bless you

Thank you for sharing such a personal story Desertrose and for your prayers. <3
Demi777 thank you for the scriptures; your testimony is amazing.
Tinkerbell725, I have not been counting my blessings, I will do that. Thank you for the reminder.
LanceA, I will try to spend more time with God. I have not praised God recently.

Hopefully, God will use this site to alleviate your loneliness and to feel loved. I will say a prayer for your situation. Glad to have you as a member of our family. Welcome to CC.

I try to look outward to give or serve. This often turns my thoughts to Him.

I cry out helplessly to Him! and then recall some verses that speaks peace and comfort to the soul. then tune myself out and focus on others' needs.

That is a good question. I know for me reading the Bible and praying are a good start. I have a journal and a file on my computer that I use to write letters to God. Or while I am driving, I might tell Him about the day and the joys and challenges. I have found that spending time in worship helps too.
