Japan has a very unique culture, there is a lot of governmental/societal pressure to conform.

Knife crime is in every culture, it’s not at all good but it’s overall it’s not as bad as
having hundreds of round for a semi automatic per person. Ie one knife won’t do as
much damage as one gun,

There is is every culture. But just as in every culture there is also the criminal
element and gangster types.

in the U.S. people scream for gun control because of mass shooting not realizing there’s mass killings rather a gun or knife or what ever is used. prime example in Japan 19 killed from one man with two knives.

people have been killing people in the streets for years and years gang wars over turf but that doesn’t make the head lines all that much. I think the Media plays into it for the ratings.

Yes true, however, overall Japan is one of the safest countries.

Japan is an honour/shame society, I have been there, very firmly entrenched in their ways, and they crack down very quickly on criminals, the smallest offense is dealt with.

You know you won't be eating an apple in public there.:)

it may be all peaches and cream right now in Japan though a nation with people who can’t fight back to change can be ruled very easily it wasn’t long ago that same country was on the wrong track and that can happen with any country. Over night things can chance for the worse. one reason why the people left Europe to America was because of the one king system.

Pretty much they weigh the same, someone who has no remorse about killing will find away to do it. the Boston marathon bombing, the Oklahoma bombing. I’m not so sure gun control is the answer to the fixing deranged minds. that’s pretty much what seems to be the issue when people go on rampages not so much the weapon of choice. should there be longer waiting period extended or other things maybe

Drugs and other things seems to stream across the borders still without fully being stopped, guns would become a hot item on the black market, capping legal purchases would probably expand the black market sales.

I find this fascinating.
 
Japan has an old, homogenous population brought up in an honor culture that historically prefers stabby-cutty weapons over boom-boom sticks. It's also an archipelago. In the words of Donald Trump, "big water." They don't even have a Calais.

In other words, they have a starting advantage most countries really do not have. If eliminating gun crime was a 100 meter dash, they would be Usain Bolt and most other nations would be Kevin Hart.
