Wait, if this is part of a cycle then it's all okay! There will be hard times, then there will be good times again, then there will be hard times again, etc.

About those help wanted signs, they have been abundant since I was born. Where have you been? Any place you stop for gas is likely to have a help wanted sign.
The McDonald's that I work in has a permanent Apply - Now Hiring on their outside sign under the golden arches.

It's not fear mongering...
We are at the initial stages of societal collapse now.

This has been seen many times throughout history....it's following a prescribed path....

We, as a nation, have a low fertility rate for women. 100 women need to birth 210 babies for our population to remain constant. Currently those 100 women are only having 158 babies....and the trend indicators just took a nosedive off the cliff....looking at maybe 50 babies .

What this means is that there are no longer enough young people to fill roles and jobs they regularly do. The tax base crumbles due to a falling GDP....Which erodes purchasing power of our currency. (Hyperinflation) your retirement plan is destroyed as well. Makes our nation "easy pickins" for pariah nations.

Other European nations are also struggling as well as Far Eastern/Pacific Rim nations. Taiwan Currently has the lowest fertility rate below 1.

When the signs for help wanted evaporate from the grocery stores and fast food stands....we will be fine. But currently they are the warning sign we are in trouble.

Low fertility rates are exponential in effect. Our low fertility is recoverable for a very short window of time. China's issue is not. They will never recover from the results of their "One Child" policy.
Never.
They will cease to be a nation soon enough. They will splinter and fracture. No stopping it. And with all those nuclear weapons floating about....yeah that's gonna be more fun than when USSR did the same thing.

But let's not lose hope....Russian Federation is doing the collapse thing again...because they learned nothing from last time. They too have a proliferation of uclear weapons everywhere....except it's unclear how many will really work due to Tritium having a shorter half life. Fusion and fission are two different types of bombs.

So....there's the issue. Go ahead and Google. AI....whatever you want. The low fertility is going to cause a major problem in the world....there will be others going before the US. But if we wait until they collapse first it will be too late for the US.
Most definitely fearmongering. What's collapsing is not the society, it's the population ponzi scheme, an UNsustainable economic model relies on perpetual population growth. It relies on new entrants to produce returns for earlier investors, with the burdens falling most heavily on women, who bear the brunt of childbearing and child-rearing. If you have a little knowledge of natural growth of anything, you should've known that the natural growth curve is an S curve, it stagnates at first, then a slow growth, a rapid growth, a slow growth again, then plateau, back to stagnation, and that's where we're at. The sooner this ponzi scheme collapses, the better.

It is an essential human experience for those that have a desire to not live the rest of their lives alone, without physical intimacy and affection, and that special someone who can share and take part in their life's journey.
The question is....

How much abuse, retraining, and etc is required to make your average mammal stop reproducing by choice....

And then how much more so for humans to stop their biological imperative and self actualization?

Even if it is, consider the absence of it the cost of following the Lord. That "special someone" is purely fictional, physical intimacy and affection are sinful temptations that lure you away from the love of Christ.

I do not want to cycle into societal collapse like the Babylonian empire did....or the Persian Empire....or the Greek Empire....or any of the other's.

Especially when the solution is to simply stop being so narcissistic.
It's not a ponzi scheme....it's slow, steady growth of a singe percent or two each year. All that we need....it's not a ponzi scheme whatsoever...
Nor do we need rapid outrageous growth.

Of course sticking your head in the sand while advocating for collapse?
Well..

There are worse things than dying too young....much much worse

I can assure you that my loving and faithful wife is certainly not purely fictional.

If you are married, you should show physical intimacy and affection. These are not sinful temptations. I would consider the lack of these things in a marriage to be a form of abuse.

There is no loss of the cost of following the Lord as God has trusted me to take care of her. Being a good husband, or a wife, is very much a good work of the Lord.

I had counted the costs, with much prayer and reflection, of being a good husband before I even got married. Having been married to my current wife going on 12 years I can honestly conclude that it was worth the costs of admission.

Sometimes I just want to have a good time and don't sweat the small stuff. In my marriage though, there has been a certain amount of retraining. I guess that's par for the course.

Paul's advice is to maintain the status quo, if you're married, stay married; unmarried, stay unmarried. But either married or unmarried, be eschatalogically minded, do not be troubled with worldly pursuits, do not be distracted by worldly pleasures.

It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband ... but I say this as a concession, not as a commandment. For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. (1 Cor. 7:1-7)

Now concerning virgins: I have no commandment from the Lord; yet I give judgment as one whom the Lord in His mercy has made trustworthy. I suppose therefore that this is good because of the present distress—that it is good for a man to remain as he is: Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife. But even if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Nevertheless such will have trouble in the flesh, but I would spare you. But this I say, brethren, the time is short, so that from now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none ... For the form of this world is passing away. (1 Cor. 7:25-31)

When you come to your senses and realize you can't clone yourself, and it's immortal to use another person as a breeder to satisfy your own desire and ease your own anxiety. "Be fruitful and multiply" is for all mankind, not just Christians, not even Jews. The Lord's calling for Christians is to make disciples, not babies.

For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

hummmmmm.....

maybe we have had too many unholy children living unholy lifestyles and unholy lives...

Now we have people advocating "not to marry, not to taste, not to touch....as if these things are evil. When the near future says the EXACT OPPOSITE.

How if we continue on this current path people will be hurt horribly....but they do not care. Their ego might get hurt. That's all that really matters anyway...to them.

Senses?
I have zero desire for breeding or any of those things you FALSE ACCUSER OF THE BRETHREN.

People are going to be horribly hurt if we continue...worse than dying young could ever do to them. It's slow torture and abuse.

It's actually more joyful and more fulfilling life to have a family...

Nobody on their deathbed ever wished they made a work boss happier or that they worked more overtime....or worked for free or pursued more career paths.

Nope....not one of their former coworkers even keeps touch after retirement.

Children do....of course their life's shortcomings are all your fault somehow as they copy down your Amazon Prime password and Apple TV password...
And make sure you mentioned them in your will. But that's family....a much richer and more rewarding experience than careers ever dreamed of. In fact the careers were there to support the family. Not be the family.

And if it is...
You are doing it wrong.

If you truly wish for more children be conceived and born, the least to be done is a rebranding of childbirth, from a pathologized, dangerous medical condition to a woman's rite of passage into the next phase of her life. And that also requires ditching the pill and bringing back natural (menstrual) cycle synching, stop pathologizing that too. I even know these as a straight man. As long as pregnancy, menstruation and other female psychological conditions are misconstrued as diseases, don't be surprised at the dwindling fertility rate.

In 5 years we are going to need to begin closing high schools...seriously....not an over statement or fear mongering....we just don't have the children.

In times past we have covered up the baby shortfall with liberal.amounts of immigration.
Well that got trashed when the borders became unrestricted.
That's no longer happening....
As well as the H1-b visa program getting abused....that's gone too.

So either we have the children or we suffer the horrible consequences.

We have a narrow window to stop the consequences. 4 kids per woman is a start. 6 is better. More than that and we are toast anyway.

Lord Jesus's marriage is in HEAVEN, not on earth; not in this life, but in the afterlife; and all in all, not in the sense of carnal union, as in earthly marriage at all, but a spiritual union with God, like angels in heaven. That's how he really portrayed marriage. He himself as God, the creator of the universe, did he created an Eve for any Adam? Did he introduce any woman to any one of his disciples? God's ultimate plan was for him and his people to unite and become one, preaching earthly marriage as God's "divine plan" is at best distraction and at worst false advertising.

For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven. (Matt. 22:30)
Marriage is definitely God’s divine plan for men and women to become one flesh and reproduce children.

You and I do not really understand what a spiritual union with God like the angels in heaven is like, unless we consider it as always doing God’s will and enjoying His companionship, like in a marriage relation.

God uses marriage as a metaphor for the union of Christ and the church because a virtuous marriage is such a wonderful blessing that is easily understood.

Even if it is, consider the absence of it the cost of following the Lord. That "special someone" is purely fictional, physical intimacy and affection are sinful temptations that lure you away from the love of Christ.
The special someone refers to God selecting a companion for you that is the ideal mate.

My first wife was my own selection and it was a disaster. My second wife was the result of God mysteriously bringing a woman into my life, a woman who was perfect for me. I know the stark contrast of selecting a woman vs. God selecting one for me.

Physical intimacy and affection are not sinful in marriage, they are required. Rather than luring you away from the love of Christ, it brings you closer to Christ by serving as a metaphor for Christ and the church.

Song of Solomon is an entire book of the Bible promoting the physical, romantic joys of marriage.

I Corinthians 7

3The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.

4The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife.

5Do not deprive each other, except by mutual consent and for a time, so you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again, so that Satan will not tempt you through your lack of self-control.

Hebrews 13:4

Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

It is fascinating to watch you at work. You have a true gift for arguing against everybody on all sides of an issue.

I am certain that if I mentioned cats are cool, you would bring up some incident of a cat going wild and attacking a human. If I said cats were of the devil you would mention the health benefits of petting a cat.

You occasionally say things I agree with, but I think that is a random coincidence. Your primary objective seems to be proving everybody on the forum wrong about everything.

Huh

I can't imagine being married to someone who's imaginary.
Being single is my reality and I like it.

But if you were married when you came to Christ, I think God wants you to stay married, or at least be married to someone you can love and cherish.
I don't think anyone should be married just for the sake of it. Lots of people just live together and they don't marry.

Love ... or God's unconditional love isn't restricted to your spouse. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love.

Living together without being married is living in ungodly fornication.

Getting married should be a total, unwavering commitment to one person for the rest of your life.

Christian marriage can be a taste of heaven on earth. Nothing else even remotely compares to it. To have a virtuous, deeply spiritual spouse as a trusted and delightful companion is the best thing, aside from salvation, that ever happened to me.

Being married is kind of similar to being joined to the hip. if you are too far away from each other you get all antsy. You can't survive without the other, and if one leaves its like your other half of you has been amputated. You need to kind of agree on everything, or it does't work. You need to go where the other one goes or you just end up splitting up. And you find you can't be alone, and you rely on the other person to help you - at all times.
Like I don't know, symbiosis.

I think spiritual symbiosis, having Christ IN you, is somewhat like a marriage, and the fruit, instead of children of the flesh, is your character, and others who are Christ like from following your example in Christ. If the scripture in Him we live and breathe and have our being, if we are members of His church, then we all kind of depend on Him while doing what we are created or ordained to do.

So similar but quite different. Fleshly marriage has a lot of problems that a spiritual marriage does not have. And a spiritual marriage is not imaginary. It's real, it's just you can't always SEE it and it can't die.

Anyway just my thoughts. If you are single, it's best to be singleminded. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways after all.
