It says in 2 Peter 2 that proud and arrogant people have the audacity to scoff and accuse supernatural beings (demons) without so much as trembling. But the angels, who are far greater in power and strength, do not even dare to bring from the Lord a charge of blasphemy against those supernatural beings.

And in Jude 1:9 it tells us not to rile up supernatural rulers by making accusations against them. Even Michael the Archangel didn't converse with the devil or bring up any accusations against him but instead said, "The Lord rebuke you."

In other words, it's not up for discussion. If the angels of God don't dialogue with the devil or make accusations against him, we shouldn't either.

We're to keep our eyes only on Jesus and follow Him.

So how are you going to cast them out if you dont talk to them?

When asked how many demons there were, satan replied "we (meaning his demons) are LEGION." Legion means very many. There are legions upon legions of demons loose on this earth right now.

Something I've been wondering. So many claim demon activities over just about everything. I have no idea how big heaven will be, nor how many angels there are, but there were 1/3rd more than there are. Lucifer took them with him, (or God kicked them out on their butts.)

So there are 7.2 billion people on earth now. Think there's enough for everyone?

Demons aren't omni. Unknown if they die now that they're in a fallen state. They obviously weren't the brightest bulbs in the box, or they wouldn't have rebelled. But how dumb are they?

Dumb enough to tempt Jesus. Do you think they're smart enough to know they already lost? Do you think they're after those that already won? Or would they be more likely to go after the ones who have Godly potential? Why bother God's kids? Got to know they can't win. Maybe tares? Maybe the ones on rocky soil?

Do they have a game plan?

I know. The Bible doesn't talk too much about them, but sometimes I like to blame them because I can't be this dumb. Surely I can read ten verses without my mind wandering off. How hard can that be? But, no, my mind wanders. Can't be me, right?

But then I notice I do the same thing when reading a Reader's Digest joke, so maybe it is me.

So, how many demons are they? Do you think they're like guardian angels? One per person?

I just see them being blamed for everything evil, but I know God knows Man's heart is on evil continually anyway do why bother? (If you're wondering, that's the only one I can prove Biblically. Gen. 6:5.)

So what's it with blaming those losers over every little thing?

(Excuse me. This isn't what kept me up tonight, but it's 5:30 AM and I'm still up, so my mind is buzzing... and rambling. No. I don't drink caffeine. Why do you ask? lol)

Anybody know anything more about them than I do? I'm so lost I'm not even sure Morningstar is Lucifer. I'm not much for spending time thinking focusing on them, quite as much as I'm interested in why others do. What's to gain?

How many angels will fit on the head of a pin?

I can't remember the last time I thought about the devil and demons. This place seems to be the only place that tends to obsess about this topic, but only a few, not the majority.

I think the Bible is clear who we are to be watching:

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, [SUP]2[/SUP]looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2

I liked reading Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis and books by Frank Peretti.

Which conveys, in a probable fictional manner, the fight between the demons and angels in the lives of people.

There's always a fight going on. Spiritually. Sometimes you can feel it. Sometimes you miss it.

Where has all this foolish arrogance come from when talking about demons? It seems to be the new trendy in thing to do, but boy is that playing with fire or what. Demons are not silly creatures that can not do anything to you, they are powerful and dangerous. It is wrong to provoke them by insulting and calling them names and goading them.

So how are you going to cast them out if you dont talk to them?

Just like the angels do, "The Lord rebuke you." Jesus gave us authority to cast them out, not sit around and dialogue with them or make accusations against them or write books about them. "Get away in Jesus' name" is sufficient enough.

Talk to God; He will cast them out.

I disagree here... Jesus gave a very plain answer when the disciples queried him about having trouble casting out certain demons. Their problem was unbelief... and he wasn't addressing the demons unbelief. As far as I am concerned... nothing new under the sun... same problem... different age.

Demons know they are in a fallen state- that's why they asked Jesus if He came to punish them before their time, right before they went into a bunch of pigs.

Demons are not very powerful. It takes only one soul made in God's image to control their own body, but it takes legions of demons to control that one body during demon possession. Mostly their power is to make you fear, and to introduce evil ideas to human minds. When the bible talks about things taught by demons, it means a man entertained and accepted an idea that came from a tempting demon, then put it into action by teaching others the lie introduced to his thoughts.

No matter who tempts you to do wrong, it is your free will decision to do it, and if you do, you have only yourself to blame. Simply run away from temptation, and the tempter will quit trying for awhile because he is not patient.

There is only One person you need to fear. Satan can only do what God allows him to, but God is in control of all things. We need to fear to disobey Him, because the fate of all is in His hands.

I am a daughter of the King of Kings. If he can't protect me, who can? Besides, if you check out my last paragraph, I already said this is more about how others see the then actually about them.

So, where's the foolish or arrogance?

Talk to God; He will cast them out.

So why is'nt God casting them out? Paul cast them out Peter cast them out and so did all the others, Judas included. We either have authority to do this or not. Surely you reliase we cast them out as we are commanded to do so?

Jesus has all power and authority. So thjat means there is none outside of Jesus none. So they have none. They only have what we give them over our lives. satans a clown and you will be shame faced and crying when you see how pathertic he really is. Thats the tears that will be wipped away. Tears of regret.

I do not sit in fear of demons. I Just abide but what the Bible says on the matter and follow Christs example, show me in the bible where Jesus and the disciples taunt and insults demons. Actully it is the opposite, they are just commanded to leave a persons body in the name of Christ, they are not called names.

Consider this verse again Jude 1:9

Yet, Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

Here we see Gods top angel directly engaged with Satan fighting over the body of Moses, but Michael the Archangel did not even dare to speak one reviling word, but simply states "The Lord rebuke you".

Reviling means to bad mouth, insult, humiliate, verbally abuse and calling bad names to name a few.

So the top angel did not dare to revile, so what gives you the right or extra privileges to insult and call demons names?

God did not even taunt or call Satan names when he presented himself, read Job 1 6-12. Also read the temptation of Christ, did Christ insult Satan? NO.

If you revile a demon while casting it out of someone, then God will remove your protection and you will end up with some serious issues, under no circumstances do you insult demons, let alone Satan. You are playing a dangerous game, so stop with the insults and bad mouthing of demons, if God and Jesus do not insult Satan, then what gives you the right to do so.

I'm not sure it is quite as simple as that. The disciples did have faith, otherwise they would not have been puzzled as to why they had been unable to cast out that particular demon. After all by faith they had previously cast out many demons. Jesus said their problem was that their faith was too small, but that was as compared with His, not with ours. They had far more faith than we have, as witness their many miracles on a level we know nothing of today. And He then added that that particular kind of demon could only be cast out through prayer (Mark 9.29).

It is clear that there are different hierarchies of demons, and different levels of faith, and that depth of prayer clearly affects that level of faith..

I think you are very foolish. If Michael the Archangel feared Satan you would be wise to do so as well, not by living in terror of him, but by recognising that you are dealing with someone of tremendous power.

Why have you managed to get away with it? BECAUSE SATAN IS BOUND (Matt 12.28-29). It is not his power that is lacking, it is constraint by God. Both Satan and his minions want you to see them as weak. Then you will lower your guard. That will then give them the opportunity to deceive you. One important adage in war is 'respect your enemy'. Through ignoring that many have been defeated who should have won.

Whilst Satan is bound you may get away with quite a bit. But one day during this age he will be released (Rev 11.1-9; 20.1-3). Then all of us will certainly need to ensure that our armour is sound.
