what in the? ................is goin on here?
In this case "original post", though it can also mean "original poster" (as in the thread creator).
I married the opposite of my dad. My father was a professional athlete, outgoing, a student of higher learning (PhD), as well as a University professor, musical, couldn't fix a thing, a blow-heart, never gave away a cent in his life, and a real alpha male. My husband and I shared the gospel with him 5 months before he died, and he was transformed, by the grace of God.
My husband, on the other hand, can fix or do anything with his hands. He does drywall, plumbing, electrical wiring, electronics, carpentry, hates sports - even though he is athletic, he took a two year course in electronics and worked in that field his whole life, very quiet and shy, humble, not musical, but also kind and gentle and caring, especially towards the poor and downtrodden. God saved him in his teens but he never went to church until he met me, preached the gospel, and God saved me, and I took him to church with me.
I had a hard relationship with my father, till he was saved. I was very strong willed, and we were always at each other, and he being bigger and stronger, usually won the arguments, until i left home for good. While it looks like my father and Dad are polar opposites, mostly I just wanted someone who was loving, handy, and a Christian. (Although I didn't know that till I was saved.)
But our marriage also has a lot in common. My husband and I like to travel. And mostly that means riding in a car/truck/motorhome, but seeing a lot. We are quite traditional in our house roles, because that is how we were both raised, We both love nature, and up till a few years ago, when I got much sicker, we did a lot of biking, swimming, skiing, hiking and camping. (We still camp, but in our motorhome.) Of course we both love our 4 grown children and 6 young grandchildren. But most important, we both love God. Any marriage must have a foundation of God in order to flourish. Without Christ, no matter how good the relationship is in the natural, the important shared spiritual relationship is missing the most essential part - loving the triune God.
I hate to say this but it looked like How many kids if you married your mom or dad..![]()
