  • Support his decisions in front of your kids.
  • Share concerns or things you don't agree on in private.
  • Speak highly of him to your kids.
  • Treat your husband like a man not a child & do not refer to him as "my other child" (I hate when woman say that).
  • Acknowledge that your husband have valuable wisdom & insights.
  • Honor your husbands rules even when he is not around.
  • Call your child out on disrespect or disobedience to their dad.

Well, I am not married or dating anyone. However, I am respecting whomever God has planned to be my husband by keeping myself pure, strengthening my relationship with God and learning more about him, and of course praying that God is preparing him to one day be a husband and father.

So "idealistic". We mostly need a forgiving, kind, and merciful heart. But we also need to know when to not honor rules that are controlling and demeaning to us and our children.

What about when your husband does not have valuable wisdom and insights? My father did not at all. He was very prejudice and there was no way my mother could have supported most of his decisions. She just kept quiet - which was probably the best thing to do. There was not much she could speak highly about him to us. Yet, when he left her eventually, she didn't speak negatively about it and she could have.

You are only 19? It is the older women who are to teach the younger women to love their husbands according to the scriptures. Probably because we have lived through many struggles - and know that marriage just isn't a set of rules. It is a difficult relationship that calls for much prayer and understanding.

Just because I am 19 does not mean I havent had my struggles and clearly there are always outliners. I never said it was a set of rules but I can form a guide goals or an idea of how I will and want to be and strive to be that.

Do you have a wife?

ROFL
:)

This thread isn't about wives.

I think that if you start a thread about something with which you have no experience,
that's fine, genuinely, but you should remain open to biblical discussion, and to advice from people with experience.

If you came up with this on you own young lady, then you truly have wisdom beyond your years.
Women can change their husbands by the way they treat him.
I watch one woman cut her husband down, out loud and in public. The man didn't say anything, he just kept doing his thing, which was getting his breakfast at a motel.
I personally found this woman to be repulsive because of how she spoke about her husband, who happens to be her head.
Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
If both the husband and wife do as they are commanded, the marriages would be enjoyable and work for the benefit of the whole family.
In my opinion, very wise words from someone so young.
You will have a good marriage, because God blesses the obedient children.

Where did you learn that one from?
The bible says she is to learn from her husband and from the anointing, which is truth and teaches you all things.

Well, with all due respect dear, wait until your third baby is projectile vomiting across the livingroom, your toddler is taking a total tantrum spinning on the kitchen floor and screaming his lungs out for a cookie while you're trying not to burn the gravy on the stove, as your 4 year old dismantles the front doorknob with a screwdriver he found on the coffee table and your husband's banging angrily on the door because he can't get into the house after an extremely stressful day at work. And your in-laws are coming over for dinner that evening. :p

You think I'm exaggerating? I just described a day I had back when I was a young mommy. :D heehee And I got a bunch more where that came from!!! LOLOL!!!

If I can give you any advice at all, LEARN TO LAUGH AS A COUPLE! I can tell you that almost every disastrous day we had as young parents, we had to just shake our heads and laugh at ourselves and the kids. Boy, I do not know how people make it through life who don't have a sense of humor. :rolleyes:

"The joy of the Lord is your strength." That is the honest truth!

Soooometiiiiiimees!

The more I insisted saying one thing, it was another.

Nothing more amusing than a teenager coming on here and preaching about something she has no experience with - raising children, career choices for women, how to relate to her husband, etc. etc.

This OP is just cultural Christianity. Do you want to know what the Word of God really says about women and marriage?

"An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]She seeks wool and flax,
and works with willing hands.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]She is like the ships of the merchant;
she brings her food from afar.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]She rises while it is yet night
and provides food for her household
and portions for her maidens.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]She dresses herself with strength
and makes her arms strong.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
Her lamp does not go out at night.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]She puts her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]She opens her hand to the poor
and reaches out her hands to the needy.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]She makes bed coverings for herself;
her clothing is fine linen and purple.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]Her husband is known in the gates
when he sits among the elders of the land.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]She makes linen garments and sells them;
she delivers sashes to the merchant.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
[SUP]28 [/SUP]Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
[SUP]29 [/SUP]“Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass them all.”
[SUP]30 [/SUP]Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
[SUP]31 [/SUP]Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates." Prov. 31:10-31

This model woman has several businesses on the side, cares for the poor, and is praised by her husband. And not one thing from the OP is in this.

Oy vey... this sounds so rigid. Jesus said, "I no longer call you servants, I call you friends." If I can be a friend to Jesus my Lord, I can certainly be my husband's friend. It's not a master/servant relationship. Totally the husband is the head, But I like the way a wise godly gentleman posted it just recently, "But the wife is the neck that turns the head."

I also see it as the husband being the strength of the home, and the wife the heart of it. :)

Jesus said treat each other the way you want to be treated. That's it in a nutshell. (And that is obedient as well!) There is a big difference between performing a deed out of obligation and loving someone from your heart in the liberty of Christ Jesus.

But whatever floats your boat. The joy of the Lord floats mine.

Thank You. I have desired this for myself when God says that I am ready for that part of my life all meanwhile God is preparing me by teaching me to put all my trust and faith in him. Again, I appreciate you for posting this scripture and may God Bless you for doing so.

Yes, but you have the opportunity to give those kids back to the parents. Whereas if you are a parent you don't have that. I do not mean that as passing judgment, but there is much more to kids than what you may realize.

Most of the kids get drop of at 8 pick up at 6 mon-fri it is not the same thing as holding a baby and the baby starts crying and you give the baby back to its parents. When a kid is sick you take care of them when they cry you comfort them when they are hungry you feed them when the do good you praise them when they do bad you discipline them you teach them you inspire them you see them grow. I dont just give them back to their parents I hate when people say that its not true.

Ok, but you get to go home and recuperate, don't you? That's a whole different ballgame. LOL

I was told this joke a long time ago:

A young woman at the hospital was in labor with her first child. The delivery was extremely difficult and as she grabbed the nurse's hand for support she asked her in tears, "Is the worst part over?"

The nurse replied with a chuckle, "Honey, this is the easy part. The next 18 years will be the most difficult!"

Funny, but true. Situations will arise that you never even imagined would happen. You cannot prepare for some of the events that occur during marriage and motherhood.

But my hat's off to you dear, for wanting to be a good wife. That's wonderful, praise God! Just remember that the Lord is the one who is our resource and not a list of rules. Trust Him and all will be well... even when circumstances are not. :)

But my point is. Is that you are not there in the middle of night when that child has a nightmare and needs to be comforted or gets sick in the middle of night or even when they wet the bed. I admire your patience for working in a daycare, but real life is nothing compared to that.
