For everyone else who will actually hear -- obvious question? What's the difference between this response and legalism? Aren't both bought at the price of self-righteousness? Isn't the OP presenting a case of "Ha ha! I'm better than you are. My righteousness doesn't stink"?

There are four responses to the law:
1. We must do it all to be saved. (Legalism.)
2. We are totally free from it. It is no longer relevant, so we can do whatever we want now. (Anarchism.)
3. Somewhere in between. (Most people.)

Those are equally as wrong responses. The only thing that makes people feel good about themselves with any of those responses is the never ending nanny nanny nu nu, (which I recently discovered most people think is "nanny nanny boo boo"), little piles of groups fighting the others because any particular pile thinks they're right and, on here, you can always find others to join your pile, just as long as the others agree with you 100% of the time, and let's keep fighting our fight over any of this stuff.

But then there is the only right answer:
4. God! Jesus! He who created the law and kept the law. He who is the law. He who fulfilled the law specifically for those whom the Father has chosen and the the Holy Spirit enables. He who has not given up on who he is, simply because humans can't make the grade, but he who gave some the way to do that, and see that, and be that, strengthening them in that.

NOT "I'm right, you're wrong, and since you're wrong, you're a slithering snake, nanny nanny nun nu" mentality.

Nor a verb tense problem. Nor a keep yammering and maybe you can bully someone into believing just like you do. Nor an "I'm always right, so I'll never be bullied by you" response.

One game changer -- God.

So while the bullies keep on bullying at different angles, more and more people leave this site, because the bullies have taken over... instead of God!

There is the other choice. God! How about not letting the anarchist vs. legalists vs. all viewpoints in betweens keep gaining their satisfaction in the size of their pile of group? How about not playing along with them?

Do you know notuptome that liberty in Christ is called a law also ??? (James 1:25)

There are still standards under the new covenant that believers are told and said will uphold, and Jesus teachings and commands are part of liberty that Apostle Paul is speaking on. He does not use the term liberty in the way that we can choose to live however we want, as in we can obey or not obey.

Because Apostle Paul follows it up with a clear warning to not use liberty for the opportunity of the flesh, or in other words how he said the same about now being under grace should we continue to sin, GOD FORBID !!!

He expressed that last part in Romans 6:15 because if one keeps reading you will see warnings he gave to believers for continuing to sin.

It is painfully evident that you do not comprehend the liberty in Christ.

Before one is saved they cannot do anything except obey sin. After they are saved by grace they are able to obey through grace and for the glory of God.

All the admonitions to Christians are for the sake of sanctification not for salvation. Our admonition is that our works after we are saved will be tried by our Savior. We are branches that bear the fruit He produces. We can put forth nothing of ourselves except leaves.

I had not known sin until the Holy Spirit illuminated it and opened my eyes to see. Now my sight is fixed upon Christ so that I no longer must look upon sin but upon Him. One day sin will be removed and I will not need to contend with it ever again. Glory to God.

Is us grace poeple will defend obedience also. It is just you legalists trying to do it by mans own power. and not by Gods power prevent us from doing so. because we have to keep protecting people by proving to the world the legalistic was is not a way which will empower us, but will destroys us. I will ask again as I did earlier can you be saved before receiving the Holy Spirit ?

If you say yes then you have people who are not born again already saved, but Jesus said those who are not born again and who have not repented of their sins will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

The scripture from Acts 5:32 clearly shows obedience comes before the Holy Spirit is given, as that obedience comes from after faith has been established from hearing the word and trusting in what it says to repent and get baptized in His name.
Then you will receive the Holy Spirit.....(Acts 2:38, 3:19, 19:2-6)


Lord Jesus teaching and commands are the perfect law of liberty that Paul and James are both speaking on !!!

You still are focusing on the physical ordinance of the law which is taking your focus off the Spiritual meaning of what is being said there by Jesus. The actually meaning here by the Lord was the importance of removing sin from your life and the obstacles that would cause us to stumble, NOT about actually cutting hands off or plucking out eyes.

If Jesus ways are tougher then Moses then how come the Word of God says the opposite, that they are easy and not burdensome ??? Because we have the Holy Spirit in us to help keep us in those teachings !!!

Just like a couple others you do the same as them and speak like the disciples/Apostles before they were born again in Matthew 19:25. The Apostles thought the same way as you when they heard this straight form the mouth of Jesus Himself personally, but they soon realized at Pentecost that those things are not impossible !!!

Faith in Jesus Christ is righteousness, and righteousness is considered works, for faith leads to good works, however it is taught nowhere tht faith allows for disobedience at any level and sin is disobedience..
