I’m an Apostolic Christian. I love Jesus. I’m active in Church, playing the Piano, sing solos, and lead services in our local Church.
Doctrines in my Church make me still wonder if I’m saved.... I realize that some are man made... but the leaders of our Church makes it clear.... If you never spoke in tongues, you most likely never received the Holy Ghost, and therefore are not saved....
I have many times been at the altar, crying out to God... feeling the love... and here is the bigges problem... people in our Church believe I have the Holy Ghost... and I never soeak about it to anybody.... just praying that God will help me...

I was part of the charismatic movement and while we weren't specifically taught tongues were evidence of salvation it's a natural question you raise to yourself.
Being in that sort of environment caused a lot of guilt, chasing the "holy spirit", questioning salvation, etc... I left it behind and left much of the misery with it.

I just don’t want to leave, and go back... If I leave, I want to move closer to God as a result .....

I never went back. It was too much of a relief. Unless you're institutionalized, like lifers in prison afraid of surviving in the real world then why go back to prison?

Apostolic basically means that it is a Church like the one the apostles started. Biblical standards is a big thing. Ladies and gentlemen are tought how to dress and act. Holy and separate from the worlds fashion.
The bible is very specific on life style and acts. And I believe God never change, though time does. Baptism is another big deal. We baptise in the name. Not titles.

Sounds like you are looking for substance, a solid foundation for your basic belief in Christ. I suggest you look for a church where the emphasis is on sound, in-depth Bible teaching. You won't get this in an emotion based church. I don't think you will ever regret leaving emotionalism for sound doctrine. Ask God to lead you somewhere that you can learn and grow.

I’m kind of stuck.... I left another country, to help my father in law. He pastor a small country Church. He is burned out, and his spiritual fire is on low low... my wife will not leave his Church. She respect him to much...
I hunger for revival, shout worship and life. Our Church has only a few old people left..... If I leave, I might cause heartache in The family....

Hello geaux4it, welcome to CC, glad to have you here. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here. Apostolic is very staunchly oneness, where they say Jesus is the Father. How do you feel about that? Does the Holy Spirit talk to you? What do you and don't you believe about what your church teaches? Questions you must ask yourself.

The Holy Spirit gives certain gifts to certain people and having one gift but not the other is not indicative on whether or not one has salvation. Your church is doing a disservice by saying that if you don't speak in tongues than they don't have the Holy Spirit or salvation. This is not a biblical position at all as it is made clear that some have the gifts of tongues and some have other types of gifts. You might want to consider changing where you attend worship service. Church doctrine and biblical doctrine are two different things. Glad to have you as part of our community. Welcome to CC.

I think that might be your first step in growing closer to GOD. listen to his voice, the true voice of the holy spirit. Not what man or church leaders might say. You should take everything you read or hear and examine it with your own heart. Even what is said in this forum. Good people here and great encouragement but, But they aint GOD. May GOD bless you and help you with your decisions

This is tough! Maybe there is a Bible Study at another church that you could be involved with, but still worship with family on Sundays?

Hi geauz4it, welcome to CC brother :)

God's the One that you need to follow, of course, but I'd say your assessment is a correct one. You moved where you did with the promise of helping your father-in-law out, and your wife doesn't want to leave, so staying seems the only thing to do (unless and until the Lord clearly leads you both elsewhere .. Proverbs 3:5-6; Romans 12:2).

That said, one of my friends is a worship minister who left our mega-church for a few Sundays to help out a little church nearby (that actually sounds a lot like yours). He told me that the church was so dead that it was infectious, even for him, until he had them sing a song that was based on the 150th Psalm, that is, which begins, is filled, and ends with the phrases, "Praise Him" and "Praise the Lord". (so it was an easy thing for the Lord to get through to him that Sunday by impressing this thought on his heart, "YOU, Praise the Lord".

He told me that after that, EVERYTHING changed, for him and for everyone else in the congregation (just because he got his eyes off of the dead congregation he was trying to lead in worship & got them back onto the One he and they were supposed to be worshiping :)).

God bless you!

~Deut
p.s. - if you have the gift of tongues, wonderful, and if you don't, also wonderful, according to St. Paul anyway .. cf 1 Corinthians 12:30

.........John 5
.........24 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come
.........into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
